Chapter 57 Patience/Jett
Chapter Fifty-Seven
PATIENCE/JETT
PATIENCE - THE NIGHT BEFORE THE CEREMONY
A noise jostled me from my semi-sleeping state.
I’d been having trouble relaxing enough to fully fall into a deep slumber. It was hard to be in bed without my husband once I’d gotten used to having him by my side each night.
The ladies and their silly rules.
We were already married yet they’d insisted he couldn’t see me the night before the wedding. They’d done this before, and it hadn’t always worked.
Another sound, this time I could pin it down to outside the window, had me turning in the bed and staring that way. Luckily, I’d left the bathroom light on and the door cracked so I wasn’t in complete darkness if I’d gotten up to pee—because let’s face it, I did that a lot now.
Soft tapping against the glass startled me, but then I heard his whispered voice.
“Sweetheart, let me in.”
My heart jolted with joy, and I stuck my tongue out at the ladies, even if they couldn’t see me since everyone was home in their own beds.
Looks like your little plan didn’t work.
It’s a good thing Alley was at her own house, or she’d probably be guarding me with one of her legendary bats. I got out of bed, lifted the blinds, and my husband’s mesmerizing eyes stared back at me, glistening even in the dark night.
He popped the screen off as I pushed up the window, and my pulse raced with excitement as Jett tumbled into the room with a thump. I giggled, feeling like a teenager—something I never really felt I’d truly experienced. There was the boy I was in love with, sneaking in to see me.
Jett jumped to his feet, a triumphant smirk on his face.
Filled with the need to tease him, I began, “You’re really proud of yourself, huh?” Then I went to the window and looked down. Turning back to him, I shook my head. “A ladder? You cheated.”
Moving into my personal space, he grabbed me around the waist and dragged me against him. “Hey, I’m not Spiderman. There’s no scaling walls for me.”
“Well, if you're not Spiderman, you have to go,” I told him with mock seriousness. I fought to keep a straight face as I squirmed to get free, but he held tight.
Running his free hand down my face, his piercing blue eyes bore into mine. “I couldn’t go to sleep without kissing you, Roo.”
Between his words and the earth-shattering kiss that followed, I was like one giant gooey marshmallow threatening to melt at his feet. He kissed me like a man possessed.
When he pulled back, wearing a satisfied look on his face that I was sure mirrored mine, he let out a heavy sigh. “Just maybe that will tide me over until tomorrow so I can get some sleep.” He stroked his thumb over my bottom lip. “You need some rest too, sweetheart.”
He dropped his hands, and my mouth fell open. My husband was insane if he thought he was leaving. I grabbed his fitted T-shirt with both fists and clung to him, our faces just a hairsbreadth apart.
“You are not leaving me needy like this, because that would be a surefire way to keep me up all night.” I gave him a quick, smacking kiss. “Stay,” I whispered against his lips before I unclenched his shirt and dropped my hands.
My husband stared at me with a devilish smile on his handsome face, his cheeks sporting those panty-dropping dimples.
I squeezed my legs together, trying to curb the tingling sensation between my thighs.
His gaze dropped between our bodies—taking notice.
In seconds, those panties of mine were drenched.
“Arms up, baby.”
A thrill rocketed through me at Jett’s deep, husky command.
Yes. Yes. Yes.
I thrust my arms up enthusiastically, making my guy chuckle.
“In a hurry?” he teased as he pulled my silky, purple cami off.
Nodding energetically once the material cleared my head only made him laugh more. I was just thankful it wasn’t slowing him down. He hooked his fingers in the sides of my matching sleep shorts and my very wet panties and pushed them down my thighs.
When they were around my ankles, I stepped out of them with one foot and with the other, sent the duo flying across the room.
The desire to touch him had my hands trembling, and I shoved them under his shirt, sliding them up his rock-hard abs, my nails scoring his skin as I went.
“You want me naked, baby?”
His hot, intense gaze was like molten lava, burning me up inside. But his voice was the complete opposite—all velvety smooth, like butter sliding across my skin, sending goosebumps over every bare inch until my whole body was covered.
“Yes, please,” fell from my lips in a soft, needy plea.
A desperation to be one with my husband raced through my veins.
Throwing one arm over his shoulder, he snagged his shirt and ripped it over his head. “So polite. How can I say no?” Then he didn’t waste time—for which I was thankful—dropping his sweats and boxers in one swoop.
My teeth sank into my bottom lip.
Be bold.
Deciding I was going to take what I wanted, I placed my palms on Jett’s chest and pushed him toward the bed until the back of his knees hit the mattress.
When he was flat on his back, eyes blazing with desire, I walked his way and threw a leg over him so I was straddling his very impressive erection. Perched on my knees, I wrapped my hand around his thick dick, lined him up with my core, and sank down onto him until he was fully seated inside me.
A deep groan rumbled from his chest. It was good Griffin and Autumn were downstairs in their fort, though someone else may have heard. I was too immersed in the feel of his throbbing cock to care about the adults.
In a swift move, Jett rolled me onto my back, our connection never breaking. Braced on his strong arms, the muscles building as he hovered over me, he stared into my eyes.
“I’ve loved you since the moment I met you.” He brought a hand up and softly stroked my cheek. “And I’m going to love you well beyond the day I leave this earth.”
My walls clenched around his shaft as my heart beat double time.
“Do that again.”
At first, I was puzzled, then I realized from the way he panted out the request that he was affected by the grip I had on his manhood. I squeezed again, choking his cock and pulling another groan from him.
Jett made me feel delicate and powerful at the same time, and I reveled in it. I tightened around him again, and he began to move.
“You’re mine, Roo.”
“Show me.”
His thrusts got faster, and my breathing began to speed out of control.
“Oh, I intend to.” He moved with purpose, and in seconds, I could feel the orgasm building.
“After I make love to you, I’m going to hold you in my arms just until the sun starts to come up, sneak back out, and wait for you to walk toward me to say, ‘I do’ once again.”
And that is exactly how it all went down.
JETT - WEDDING DAY
I was speechless.
Not being able to talk sure made it hard to sing.
Knelt down on one knee next to Griffin, he bonked me on the head, causing all our guests to laugh.
“Dad, do you have stage fright?” he yelled, prompting another roar of laughter from everyone.
I looked at my lady standing at the end of the burlap walkway laid out for her to descend, her arm slipped through Gramps’s and felt the first sting of tears.
Fuck, she was a vision. My gaze took her in from head to toe. Patience was stunning in her white, off-the-shoulder, elegant satin, wedding dress—the sunshine as her spotlight. But it was the small pooch in her belly that had my breath hitching.
I wish you guys were here.
Giving in to that pang in my chest that still came when I thought of the friends I’d lost, I allowed myself to slip back to the past for a brief second and swallowed the emotional lump in my throat.
Knowing they would never get to be this happy was its own kind of torture, but I was working through it.
When I was held captive, I wasn’t sure I’d ever see the light of day again, and if I did, I wasn’t sure I’d ever make it to where I was now. Griffin was mine, we were having a baby, and the woman staring at me, patiently waiting to walk my way, was my everything.
“Dad,” Griffin hissed. “It’s time. If you forget the words, follow me.”
My eyes never left Patience’s as she tilted her head trying to figure out what was happening. She was far enough away that she hadn’t heard her son, but I was sure she was curious why she wasn’t walking down the makeshift aisle.
I looked at my son. “Thanks, Champ. Let’s do this.”
“About time,” Kace muttered from behind us. “You almost gave her time to come to her senses.”
“Pipe down,” Gyth told his friend, who just chuckled in response.
He and Gyth were both helping us renew our vows in front of all our friends; it didn’t feel right without them both.
Plus, you couldn’t let one officiate without the other, or they’d bicker about it forever—not that it seemed to stop them from doing it anyway.
Lyric and Ruby were once again standing up for us as everyone else sat in the white folding chairs with purple bows draped down the back looking on.
Suddenly, our guitars appeared. Gyth handed Griffin his, while Kace gave me mine. They’d kept them hidden until we were ready so that my girl wouldn’t see them and ruin the surprise. As we got them in place, I heard a lot of oohs and aahs, but it was the gasp that grabbed my attention.
Looking back at Patience, I saw tears sparkling in her eyes.
That’s when Griffin and I began to play and sing to the best woman we knew.
The lyrics from “I Live My Life for You” by Firehouse floated freely from our lips, stunning everyone. Gyth and Kace knew what was to happen, so they were prepared to hand over instruments, but everyone else had been in the dark—including Patience.
Everyone stood as Gramps and Patience began to move. With every step she took closer to me, my heart strummed faster, matching my fingers on the strings of my guitar. Our son didn't miss a beat, singing from his soul and playing like he’d been doing it for twenty years—he was a natural.
