There are times when choices must be made. We do not endorse violence as a necessity, though it can serve as a useful end when every other option falls away.
Some see cruelty in this logic. We prefer to understand it as the natural Order of Things and to avoid sentimentality. It is simply the way of the world, and we remain subject to its organizing force.
There are always individuals positioned near the point of disruption who fail to recognize their role.
They notice details because that is their task.
They pass along small fragments because they believe shared information becomes managed information.
They fail to see the larger field. They fail to understand that fragments accumulate.
Such individuals remain useful so long as they stay contained. When they begin to deviate, when a detail is withheld or personal desire is given priority, they cease to stabilize the system.
At that stage, their options narrow.
We favor simplicity over spectacle. Spectacle invites scrutiny, and discretion remains our defining principle.
Better that an event appears unrelated to our power.
Though we may possess cause, we seek neither bragging rights nor credit for our work.
Immodesty is indelicate. Instead, the event is best allowed to proceed through personal misfortune or a turn of circumstance requiring little elaborate explanation.
The city supplies opportunity. It always has.
When a structure has endured as long as ours, it does so because it is willing to remove pieces that fail to fit. That willingness is far from cruelty. Sentiment weakens systems, and you will find little of it here.
