Chapter 22 #2

Her hips bucked up in a desperate attempt to meet his fingers, the need for release of the unrelenting pressure enough to drive her mad. She shoved her hand into his shaggy hair, gripping the long strands. “Hmm-mm.”

He kept his focus on her face as he slipped his fingers inside her.

Her breath caught in her throat, moisture clinging to her thighs as he moved his fingers in and out, his thumb gently swiping over her most sensitive spot.

“You’re so damn beautiful, Eve,” he said, his warm breath skimming over her skin. “Come on, baby. Just let yourself go.”

She closed her eyes, listening to his voice and fisting the sheets in her hands as her body moved closer and closer to ultimate pleasure. Stars exploded and she screamed out his name, sweet release finally coming, replaced by a stronger, urgent need for more.

The feel of Reid’s mouth on hers made her purr. She opened her eyes to find him hovering over her. Sweat dotted his hairline and tenderness filled his wide brown eyes. “You’re amazing, Eve. Every single part of you.”

She grinned, not even close to being done with their fun. “You’ve seen every part of me. I think it’s time to even the score.”

His grin matched hers, and he pushed up to sit on his knees as he straddled her. He yanked his hoodie and T-shirt over his head, making his already tousled hair messier.

The white bandage on his side caught her attention, and she frowned. Gingerly, she touched the area around the bandage. “Does it hurt?”

“Changing the bandage isn’t much fun, but it doesn’t hurt much now,” he said with a small, husky laugh.

“I was terrified when I heard you were in the hospital. Even before I admitted to myself—to anyone—how much you meant to me, I knew if something happened to you, I wouldn’t survive it.”

Reid swiped the pad of his thumb across her cheek, leaving it to linger as he stared deep into her eyes. “I’m fine. Just a little bruise. I’m not going anywhere.”

The implied promise lingered between them and misted Eve’s eyes. She didn’t expect a lifelong commitment or an expression of love. But he’d given her exactly what she needed—hope that they might figure out a future together.

“Neither am I,” she said, the words catching on the emotion lodged in her throat.

He reclaimed her mouth, his body covering hers.

Her heart soared and she maneuvered her hands to slip under the soft material of his joggers, shoving them down as far as she could without breaking their kiss.

He severed their connection, his ragged breaths coming out in short puffs. “Give me a second.” Jumping out of the bed, he finished the job and kicked out of his pants and boxers.

Her eyes bulged at the magnificent sight of him.

All hard, lean muscles and the size of his erection enough to send a tiny bit of trepidation through her excitement.

She kept her gaze locked on him as he moved to his bag, rummaging through it until he pulled out a condom.

He ripped it open then rolled the rubber over his long, stiff shaft.

Her heart rate tripled. Good lord.

With everything in place, he reclaimed his spot beside her. “Are you sure you’re ready for this?”

“I’ve been ready for you my whole life.”

Her words lifted the side of his mouth, and he rolled on top of her, resting an arm above her head while his free hand positioned himself at her center. He pushed inside her and groaned. As he moved, he pressed kisses against her neck, her throat, then along her jawline until his lips found hers.

She deepened the kiss, each thrust inside her stretching her to fit him until any discomfort vanished, leaving behind only blinding pleasure. She moved her hips, meeting his demands on instinct, her body craving more and more as he went deeper and deeper.

As she teetered on the precipice of earth-shattering release, he pulled out and flipped her on her stomach. He roamed his hands along her back before linking their fingers, caging her palms with his and pinning them to the bed above her head.

Her ass reared back, the emptiness of not having him inside her too much to handle. “Reid.” She said his name like a plea, like a prayer.

He entered her from behind, the shock wave of pleasure echoing through her soul. She cried out, grinding against him until an explosion of desire burst inside her. She squeezed his hands, the lack of control taking her to a level she’d never reached.

Reid kept moving, kept thrusting. His breaths became grunts and moans until his body jerked and dropped down, his lips placing hot bursts of kisses along her spine before he rolled to her side and pulled her to rest against him.

She loved the feel of him wrapped around her, but she turned in his arms to see his face. “Why did we wait so long to do that?”

“Because I’m an idiot.” He grinned and swept her hair over her shoulder, kissing the shallow dent beside her neck. “I could kiss every inch of your body.”

She chuckled, tilting her head to the side to give him more room to explore. How was it possible for her body to react to his every touch? She should be exhausted, spent after what they’d just experienced. Instead, her nerve endings hummed, her body craving more of him. “I think you already have.”

His grin grew. “Baby, I’m just getting started.”
