Chapter 35

Rei Kurosaki

Life had started to fall back into place.

My mom did start calling me again. At first it was every few days, messages asking where I was, if I was okay, if I was coming home. Then the messages turned into voicemails, then longer calls. I ignored every single one.

After everything that had happened with Daniel, after realizing she had chosen him over me, I cut her off completely. I blocked her number. I did not want her voice in my life anymore. It hurt too much to keep hoping for a mother who had never really been there.

School was good. Strange, but good.

People still stared, but no one dared say anything to my face. Not with Dimitri always at my side.

Speaking of Dimitri, he indulged me in everything.

If I wanted to stay in bed longer, he let me.

If I wanted to skip a class because my legs ached, he carried me to the garden instead.

If I wanted something specific after therapy, he cooked it without complaint.

I was getting used to it. No one had ever treated me like this besides my dad. But even he was not so extreme.

Today was a party.

Normally I never attended these. Marco and I had never fit in. But now I was kind of part of the Void Kings circle. Or at least tolerated because of Dimitri. So here I was.

Ilya was on top of a table.

“Listen up, you boring fucks!” he shouted over the music. “We have a new one joining the inner circle tonight! Give it up for our favorite fairy, Rai Kurosaki! Try not to get murdered if you look at him wrong. Dimitri gets jealous easily!”

The crowd cheered and laughed.

Dimitri stood beside me, one arm wrapped possessively around my waist, glaring daggers at Ilya like he wanted to drag him off the table and stab him with his own knife. He really hated when Ilya called me fairy.

Ilya hopped down gracefully and skipped over to us, holding out a red plastic cup with a dramatic flourish.

“Here you go, Rai! Special cocktail. Extra sweet, just like you.”

Dimitri’s grip on my waist tightened immediately.

“He doesn’t drink,” he said flatly.

Ilya pouted. “But it’s a party! And he’s one of us now. Let the boy live a little.”

I looked at the cup, then at Dimitri’s tense jaw, then back at the cup. Something defiant sparked in my chest, that little rebellious part of me that Dimitri both loved and hated. I reached out and took the drink from Ilya’s hand before Dimitri could stop me.

“Now who said I don’t?” I said, raising an eyebrow at Dimitri. “I survived a knife attack. I think I can handle one drink.”

Dimitri glared at me.

“Rei,” he warned.

Ilya clapped his hands together in delight. “Ohhh, look at him go! I love it. Drink up, Rai!”

I lifted the cup to my lips, staring Dimitri dead in the eyes the whole time.

Dimitri’s jaw flexed. He stepped closer, towering over me, and grabbed the cup from my hand.

“Very well,” he said.

He brought the cup to his own lips and drank the rest of it in one go. Then he tossed it aside and grabbed my jaw to hold me in place.

He leaned down and crushed his mouth against mine.

He forced my lips open with his tongue and spilled the sweet liquid straight into my mouth. I gasped, choking a little as the drink flooded my tongue and throat. Some of it spilled from the corners of my lips, dripping down my chin as he kissed me deeper, tongue pushing the liquid further.

When he finally pulled back, I was gasping for air.

Ilya cheered loudly, clapping his hands.

Dimitri did not even look at him. His thumb wiped the spilled drink from my chin, then he brought it to his own mouth and licked it clean.

“You’re going to regret that little act of defiance later, little fairy,” he murmured.

I shivered, face burning.

“Promise?”

***

I never felt so alive.

The music was loud, the lights flashing in patterns across the crowded room. And Dimitri was holding me like I was the only thing he saw in this universe.

We had been dancing, his body pressed against mine, one arm wrapped tightly around my waist. Every time the beat dropped, he pulled me closer, hips rolling against me so I could feel how hard he was through his pants, and it made me go fucking insane.

Ilya was a complete menace somewhere behind us, jumping on tables, spinning his knife, and shouting unhinged comments that made half the room laugh and the other half look terrified.

Alexei was not here. He rarely came to these kinds of parties.

And I had invited Marco, but he had not shown up. I tried not to let that sting.

But right now, none of that mattered.

“I’ve missed touching you like this,” he said.

His hand slid down to my ass, squeezing hard, fingers digging into the flesh through my pants.

He had been holding back a lot because he was scared I was too frail from the wounds, but my legs were healed now.

Even though I think he could have touched me before too.

My legs were hurt, not my dick or ass for that matter.

His fingers kneaded my ass possessively, pulling me tighter against him.

His hand slipped lower, fingers pressing between my cheeks through my pants, rubbing circles right over my hole.

“Dimitri…” I breathed.

My body was on fire. We still had not had sex, not fully. Tonight, though, the way he was touching me felt different. Like his control was finally starting to fray.

“I want you so fucking bad,” he growled. “Want to take you home and fuck you until you can’t walk straight. Want to fill you up and watch my cum drip out of you. Want to ruin you.”

I moaned softly, pressing my face into his chest to muffle the sound.

Then, suddenly, he pulled back.

“Let’s get out of here, little fairy,” he said.

I did not even hesitate.

“Okay.”

Dimitri grabbed my hand and pulled me through the crowd. People moved out of our way, and Ilya spotted us leaving and wolf-whistled because he knew what we were going to do. I think everyone knew by the way Dimitri was moving.

“Have fun, you two! Don’t break the bed!”

He practically shoved me into the passenger seat of his car, then climbed in after me, driving like the devil.

He stopped the car, but it was not next to the mansion. It was close, pulled off on the winding road right before the thick forest that led up to it.

“Why did you stop?” I asked.

“Get out.”

My heart stuttered, but I obeyed. The second my feet hit the dirt, he was out too, circling the car.

“Reminds you of something, little fairy?” Dimitri stepped in close, crowding me against the side of the car. One hand came up, fingers tracing my jaw before he suddenly pulled a gun from his waistband.

I stepped back instinctively. Daniel flashed in my mind, but then I looked into Dimitri’s eyes and everything else vanished. He owned me in that stare.

“Let’s do a redo, little fairy,” he said, stepping forward.

The gun was still in his hand but pointed down.

The real weapon right now was the massive bulge straining obscenely against his pants.

“You run. I hunt. But this time, if I catch you, I fuck you. Hard. I’m going to chase you down like a fucking animal, slam you into the dirt on your hands and knees, rip those pants off your tight ass, and bury my cock balls-deep in that pretty little hole. ”

Holy fuck.

My mouth was watering.

“I’m giving you a head start, love.”

Then I ran.

My legs still felt shaky, but I was mostly healed so I could run properly. Besides, something told me I was going to get caught soon.
