CHAPTER FOUR
Liana
Dr. Bassi gave me this journal. He said writing might help me process what happened. That it might help me remember.
I don't know if I want to remember.
They tell me I was attacked. Beaten. Raped.
I know it's true because my body tells me it's true. Every breath hurts. Every movement is agony. And there's this... emptiness inside me. Like something was taken that I can't get back.
The man who found me is named Luca. He's... intense. Dangerous-looking. But he's been kind to me. He sits with me. Talks to me. Makes sure I eat and take my medicine.
His sister Ginny is nice. She doesn't look at me with pity, which I appreciate. She just... talks to me like I'm a person. Not a victim.
I don't remember what happened. Not really. Just pieces.
Hands holding me down.Pain.Screaming—mine or someone else's, I don't know. The smell of garbage and blood.
I don't want to remember more.
But Bassi says I need to. He says my mind is protecting me, but that eventually, I'll need to face it.
I'm not ready.
I don't know if I'll ever be ready.
