Chapter 25 #2
“I know his stats,” he laughs. “In his defense, he’s never once started a fight unless he’s defending his players. He just really pisses off his opponents because they can’t stop him from scoring and they all want a piece of him,” he chuckles, pulling into the driveway of the blue beach house.
“One more thing, I need to mention,” he says, turning off the jeep. “I didn’t tell Savi he was in town, so when she walks in tonight from work, I’m going to need your help to defuse the situation.”
“What do you mean? They don’t like each other?”
“That’s putting it mildly,” he snickers. “They’ve never gotten along, and over the years it’s just gotten worse. We try to separate them when we can, but sometimes it's inevitable, and we all just have to suffer through it.”
“Have you ever asked them why they act that way toward each other?” This doesn’t sound like the Savi I know. Sure, she’s fiery and sassy at times, but she’s one of the sweetest people I know.
“We all have, and it’s always the same vague answer that they rub each other the wrong way. It’s either he’s too overbearing or she’s too stubborn , and we ended up just leaving it alone,” he laughs, getting out of the jeep and walking over to open my door.
“Just do your best to distract Savi, and I’ll keep Knox in line, and we should be fine,” he smiles, taking my hand as we walk up the stairs.
The door swings open before we even make it fully to the porch.
“Finally! I was worried you were going to keep her all to yourself tonight.” Miles’s mom beams at me, and I immediately feel at ease with her warm energy.
She has her dark hair down around her shoulders, and her light greys mirror her sons’ as they shine at me.
She’s a stunning woman, and I can see so much of Savi in her.
“The thought did cross my mind,” Miles grins at his mom.
“I can see why it would,” she laughs. “You’re beautiful, Olivia, just like Miles described.” She pulls me into a hug, and her soft lavender scent wraps me up in a warm cocoon. “It’s so nice to finally meet you. You don’t know how long I’ve waited for this moment,” she laughs softly.
“It’s so nice to meet you, too, Mrs. Montgomery.” I smile as we break away.
“Please call me Meaghan, love. And this is Miles’s dad, Trevor,” she says, smiling at her husband, who just walked up behind her.
I can see where Miles gets his looks as I smile at his dad.
His bright blue eyes crinkle at the corners as a grin spreads across his handsome face.
His dark hair is speckled with grey, and even though he’s a couple of inches shorter than Miles, he is still over six feet.
They are a stunning couple side by side and look good together.
“You must be Olivia,” he says, bringing me in for another hug. “I don’t know if I should say thank you or good luck with this one,” he laughs, catching his son’s eye.
“Hilarious.” Miles rolls his eyes and takes my hand again when his dad releases me. I see Meaghan catch the small gesture, and she smiles cheekily at us. You can tell he’s close to his parents and they have a good relationship.
“Let’s get you two inside, and open that bottle of wine you are holding,” she grins at me.
“We have a lot to celebrate tonight with the opening of Montgomery’s and you two getting together.
Not to mention Knox being here with us.” She turns to Miles and smiles.
“He insisted on grilling steaks for us tonight and has been busy cooking since he came back from helping you at the bar today.”
“I want to introduce him to Olivia, so I’ll go see if he needs any help.”
“Dad and I are finishing up with the salad here, and we’ll join you in a second. Savi should be home soon. That will be fun,” she adds, chuckling at the thought. “I still think you should have given her a warning that he will be staying the weekend in the pool house.”
“And hear her gripe about it for the past two days? No, thank you. It’s better to just rip the band-aid off all at once.”
“If you say so,” she laughs, chopping up a cucumber for the salad.
“Do you need any help?” I ask, wanting to be useful.
“No, sweetie, you go meet Knox and enjoy yourself. Trevor and I can handle it. Pour her some wine first, Miles, and make sure to give your sister a glass as soon as she gets here. It will help soften the blow.”
“It’s really that bad?” I laugh, watching Miles uncork the bottle and pour me a glass.
“You know those illegal cockfights you hear about on the internet?”
“Yes,” I giggle.
“Well, that’s child’s play,” he says, handing me my wine.
“It’s not that bad,” his dad chuckles.
“I still think there’s some love way down deep. They are just too stubborn to see it,” Meaghan says, taking a sip of wine from the glass Miles handed to her.
“Yeah, the way a lion loves its prey,” Miles laughs, taking my hand again and walking us to the back patio. I hear his parents’ chuckle as we walk outside.
I still can’t get over how beautiful this place is. Warm, salty air blows softly through my hair as we walk across the deck toward the outdoor kitchen. Soft waves can be heard in the distance as they meet the shoreline.
I glance at the pool as we pass by. The moonlight is reflecting off the water, giving it a beautiful glow.
The water looks so inviting that I almost wish we were alone so I could feel it glide over my naked skin.
Images of Miles’s wet body pressed up against mine quickly flood my mind as I feel heat begin to dance along my flesh.
I can almost feel our slick bodies colliding as I slide against his hard…
“Don’t worry, honey. I plan on making good use of that pool in the very near future.” Miles’s breath against my ear startles me out of my little fantasy I was enjoying.
How in the world did he know what I was thinking?
Laughing at my baffled expression, he stops in front of me and runs his finger down my warm cheek.
“You’re blushing like a girl who’s having very naughty thoughts,” he murmurs with a twinkle in his eye. “Whatever you were thinking while looking at the pool, remember it for later. You’re going to give me the exact play-by-play, and then I’m doing it ten times better than you just imagined.”
“Always so sure of yourself. Maybe I was just admiring the view, and it had nothing to do with you.” My lips twitch as I fight to keep a straight face. Every part of me is already counting down the hours until we are alone in this pool, and he knows it.
“With you? Always. Maybe we should test this theory,” he says, trailing his finger down the center of my chest and going lower to the hem of my skirt. “If you are as wet as I think you are in this moment, then I’m right.”
His hand starts to move up my dress, and I blink in shock before I grab his wrist to stop him from going any further. His best friend is just a few feet away, and his parents have a clear view of us through all the windows lining the back wall .
Chuckling, he raises his eyebrow. “Afraid to lose, honey?”
I peer up at him and decide to turn the tables on him. “I’m not afraid to lose,” I smile, shaking my head. “I’m just worried about you.”
His brows bunch in confusion. “Worried about me?”
“Well, yeah,” I smile seductively and reach out to run my hand down his sculpted chest. “Once you feel how wet I am from thinking about all the delicious things you are going to do to me in that pool, you will be walking around in a hard, painful state the rest of the night in front of your family. It would be torturous for you.” I step closer until we are touching, and there’s not an inch of space between us.
I feel his dick twitch against my stomach and grin.
“Hmmm. I see the dilemma.” He pulls his lip ring and contemplates the situation. “How wet are we talking?”
“Soaking,” I whisper, and he closes his eyes on a groan before piercing me with those greys.
“I appreciate your concern and looking out for me, but there’s just one problem.
” He presses against me harder, holding me in place with his hand on my lower back.
To everyone else, we are just a couple having a cuddle, but I know it’s far more than that when I feel every inch of him rock hard against my stomach.
“It’s too late, so I might as well say fuck it . ”
His hand dives under my dress, and in seconds, his finger is moving my panties to the side and sliding in.
“Miles!” I gasp before it quickly turns to a soft moan.
“Knew I was right,” he says smugly into my hair. “So fucking soaked for me.” He goes deep one more time before slowly sliding along my soaked center and releasing me. His finger goes straight to his mouth, and a pulse takes hold between my legs as I watch him enjoy my taste.
“You’re evil,” I say, pressing my legs together to lessen the ache that I’m feeling now .
“Nah,” he chuckles. “I just really wanted a taste. I promise to make it up to you later. An evil person wouldn’t do that,” he grins.
He steps back, looking like he won the lottery, and I can’t help but chuckle at his playful demeanor.
“You owe me a lot of high notes for that one.” I smooth out my dress and try to compose myself to the best of my ability.
“You’ll hit those notes tonight. Multiple times,” he grins and takes my hand, leading us again to where his friend is cooking.
“I’m holding you to that,” I say under my breath.
“You do that,” he chuckles as we near the outdoor kitchen area.
Knox is standing at the grill, his broad shoulders filling out the navy blue t-shirt he’s wearing. His light brown hair is longer on top, with golden streaks woven in. He turns when he hears us approach. His bright blue eyes find mine before a slow smile appears, showing off perfect white teeth.
“So, this is the beautiful girl who has stolen my best friend’s heart. I can see why.” He crosses his arms across his chest and takes me in. I notice he has just as much ink as Miles on his arms, but it has a darker feel to it with all the sinister images.
“Knox, this is Olivia. Olivia, this is my soon-to-be ex-best friend if he doesn’t stop staring at you that way.”
Chuckling softly, Knox finally looks at Miles. “Well, this is a new side of you that I never thought I would see.”
“Surprised the hell out of me, too,” Miles says, smiling at me before turning back to his friend. “You should try it sometime. Might make you less of an ass.”
“No thanks,” he smirks, taking a sip of his long-neck beer. “I like things the way they are.”
“Olivia, you’re here!” Savi’s voice rings out, and she stops dead in her tracks when she sees us. Her eyes narrow to slits as she glares at the person next to us .
“Well, I did like the way things were going,” Knox mutters under his breath. I watch the two of them glare at each other, and if looks could kill, both of them would be on the ground.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Savi crosses her arms over her chest and angrily looks at him before sending daggers at Miles.
“Why didn’t you tell me your ass of a friend was coming to our house? This is one-fifth my house, so I should have a say on who is invited.”
“Well, four-fifths says he can be here, so you’re outnumbered.”
“Good to see you too, sunshine,” Knox says with a wicked gleam in his eyes.
“Don’t call me that. You know how I hate it.”
“Why do you think I do it?” He chuckles before turning the steaks on the grill.
“He came for the opening tomorrow to support me,” Miles says in a tone that is not up for discussion. “He’s my best friend, and he will be staying here for the weekend. Find a way to deal with it.”
Knox snickers, and Miles shoots him an equally no-nonsense look.
“You too, Knox. This weekend is important to me…to our family. I’m not going to have the two of you ruin it by acting like rotten two-year-olds. You’re both adults, so act like it.”
Sighing, Knox shoots Savi a look, and the fire in her eyes says, proceed with caution . “I’m calling a truce for this weekend…for Miles.”
“Fine,” she huffs. “For Miles. There’s a rule, though.”
“Why am I not surprised?” He mumbles.
“No puck bunnies are allowed here. That means no bringing them back to the pool house or having to share my space with half-naked girls throwing themselves at you. Like Miles says, it’s his weekend. Do you think you can keep that small dick of yours inside your pants for two days?”
I choke on my wine, and Miles’s hand pats me on the back.
“My dick has been called a lot of things, but trust me, sunshine, small is not one of them,” he says smugly. “I’ll play nice, though, because I promised Miles I would, so I’ll agree to your rule while I’m here.”
“Good, we all agree then,” Miles says quickly before anything else is said. “Why don’t you girls go enjoy a glass of wine by the fire pit, and I’ll help Knox with dinner?” Miles bends down close to my ear. “Divide and conquer,” he whispers.
“Good idea,” I laugh softly, walking over to Savi to try and defuse the situation with a little help from our friend, Cabernet.
