Chapter 13 #3
"When Jolt decided to launch Jolt Noir," I began, stepping to the side of the screen and capturing the attention of every executive in the room, "you stated that you wanted to capture the raw, unpredictable collision between the body and the elements.
You wanted friction. You wanted chaos. If you put an elite athlete under a controlled, artificial strobe light in a sterile white studio, you aren't capturing friction. You're capturing a catalog photo."
I tapped the keyboard, and the first image flashed onto the wall.
It was the candid picture I had stolen of Aaron at Bayou Park.
The photo was raw, unedited, and stunningly high-contrast. His muscular back was turned halfway from the lens, his broad shoulders catching the unfiltered golden rays of the morning Texas sun filtering through the oak trees.
He was lifting a water bottle to his mouth, sweat glistening like liquid diamonds down the deep valley of his spine and the curve of his obliques.
On his lower half were the unreleased teal Jolt Noir men's shorts, the fabric stretching taut against his powerful, running-toned thighs.
The room went dead silent.
The board members leaned forward, their eyes glued to the screen.
"This is what Jolt Noir looks like in the wild," I pitched fiercely, my heart racing with pure artistic adrenaline.
"It's a high-fashion silhouette meeting the grit of reality.
It's a man pushing his limits on a raw concrete trail, the organic cotton absorbing the elements, moving with his muscles instead of restricting them. "
I tapped the arrow key, bringing up the second image—the close-up shot I'd taken at Leo's on 3rd.
It was a moody, beautifully composed frame of the metal spiral staircase, the sharp, industrial shadows slicing across the warm leather bindings of the bookcase, with the dark indigo twilight bleeding through the window.
"And this is the lifestyle aspect," I continued smoothly.
"Jolt Noir isn't just for the track. It transitions seamlessly into the exclusive, creative spaces of the city.
A coffee shop, a late-night lounge, a dimly lit street.
It's funky, it's natural, it's raw. That is the premium, avant-garde direction that will make this launch iconic. "
Elena's eyes were beaming with excitement. She looked from the smart-wall over to the other side of the table, a sudden smirk playing on her lips.
"Aaron..." Elena chimed in, leaning forward with an amused smile. "Is that... you in the unreleased men's shorts?"
Aaron cleared his throat, his face flushing a subtle shade of crimson, but the moment the question was directed at his craft, his professional director persona took over flawlessly.
He stood up, stepping to the front of the room alongside me, his commanding presence immediately filling the boardroom.
"Yes, Elena, it is," Aaron stated, his deep voice thick, smooth, and confident as he took the handoff perfectly.
"Ms. Swanson and I took the samples out to the field ourselves because we refuse to direct a product we haven't personally tested.
And I can tell you right now, from a cinematic standpoint, this material changes the entire game. "
Aaron leaned against the edge of the conference table, locking eyes with the silver-haired board member.
"Championship runners and elite football players don't move in predictable lines.
When a guy is running a route, his muscles are flexing at maximum capacity.
I wore those shorts through a four-mile high-intensity sprint, and the ninety-eight percent cotton blend turns the luxury aspect up a notch without sacrificing an ounce of performance.
Creatively on film, I don't want a wide shot of a track.
I can picture it right now—a tight, gritty macro lens focus on the fabric itself as the athlete runs, showing the close-up texture of the breathable durability as it stretches against the muscle.
We build a narrative around the sweat, the strain, and the movement. "
The silver-haired executive stared at Aaron for a long, grueling beat before a slow, approving nod broke across his face.
He looked over at Elena.
"It's bold. It's entirely different from our previous campaigns."
"It's brilliant," Elena corrected, a massive, victorious smile plastered across her face as she looked at the two of us. "The natural scenery route is officially approved. Lock in the Houston locations."
I let out a long, silent breath behind my designer sunglasses, my chest expanding with a wild surge of triumph.
We had nailed it.
I shot a sideways glance at Aaron, and he was already looking down at me, a rare, breathtakingly proud smile breaking across his handsome face.
We had conquered the boardroom together on pure instinct and raw chemistry, totally unaware that the shared corporate folder I had just loaded those personal photos into was about to trigger an absolute corporate execution.
I let out a long, silent breath, my chest expanding with a wild surge of triumph.
We had completely nailed it. I shot a sideways glance at Aaron, and he was already looking down at me, a rare, breathtakingly proud smile breaking across his handsome face.
We had conquered the boardroom together on pure instinct and raw chemistry.
