Chapter 12

The knocking on my door makes my heart flutter as I rush over to answer it.

Eli texted me he was getting off work and was on his way home to change before heading over about an hour ago. Just long enough for me to take a shower, put some makeup on, and dress in some comfortable, yet flattering clothes.

“You have a key.” I smirk at him. “You could have just let yourself in.”

“Wasn’t sure about all that. Isn’t that usually a step in itself?”

Shrugging, “I dunno, never really had a sharing a key-type relationship. Although I feel like you don’t give someone your key until you trust them, and I already know I can trust you.

” Pausing, I look at him and shake my head.

Noticing his button-down shirt and dress pants. “Why do I feel underdressed right now?”

Leaning in, his lips press against mine, and I can feel them as they spread into a grin.

“I wanna take you out.” He whispers.

“What?” I stand back, shocked, looking back at him. “Like a date?”

“Yeah.”

“When?”

“Right now.”

“Right now?” I can’t help but repeat it back to him.

“Yeah,” nibbling his lip. “I made a reservation this morning.”

“That seems a little… presumptuous.”

Leaning further into me, his voice drops as he speaks. “Only if I’m wrong.”

“God,” I laugh out loud, rolling my eyes and turning around, walking further into my apartment.

“What?” I can hear his soft footsteps behind me.

“That comment.”

“It’s good, right? What are you doing?” he asks me as I walk into my closet.

“Finding something to wear since you made a reservation.” Shaking my head as I scan the closet for something presentable. Sliding the lounge pants off before I tug at my shirt. “And that comment isn’t good. What it does is remind me how you and Z were besties because that’s some shit he would say.”

“That’s fair.” He lets out a huff as he steps in behind me. “I’ll have to be more conscious of what I say.” He mumbles as his hands come to rest on my hips.

I hesitate as I turn, looking at him. “What should I wear?”

“Whatever you want.” He leans into me, about to kiss me again, when I push against his chest.

Pulling down a few dresses, I hang them so they’re facing outward. “You can’t tell me you’re taking me out, that you made a reservation, and not give me time to get ready.”

Straightening back out, he nods. “Valid point.”

“How long do I have?”

He grimaces as he looks at me. “20 minutes.”

Cutting my eyes, I shake my head as I walk past him and out of the closet. “Pick a dress.”

“What?”

“There’s 3 hanging here next to each other. You put me on a time crunch, so you have to help.”

I hear his snickers from where I’m standing in the bathroom, looking into the mirror, all the bruising on my body finally gone.

Reaching over, I grab my eyeliner.

Finishing up, I put on just enough to make a difference between what I would normally wear and going out somewhere.

Stepping into the bathroom, he looks at me and grins.

“What?”

“You’re gorgeous.”

“Yeah, yeah.” I laugh as I shake my head. “Keep trying to make up for it.”

His laugh tells me he understands I’m just trying to give him a hard time.

“You pick out something?”

“I did.” He laughs to himself, and I can hear his footsteps following behind me.

I look at the plain, short, satin, black dress confused, as it lay on my bed.

“This wasn’t one of the ones...”

“I know.” He leans into me from behind.

“It’s so basic.” I scrunch my nose up as I look at it again.

“And still, every head will turn when you step into the room.”

I can feel the blush spreading across my cheeks as he says it.

“I can’t wear a bra with it.”

“Even better.”

“The material makes my nipples hard the entire time.”

“God…” he wheezes, his breath trailing across my ear before his teeth find their way down to my neck as he nibbles on it.

“You’re not gonna get all crazy if someone is watching me cause of it?”

“Fuck no, I love it when everyone in a room wants what I have.”

“It doesn’t make you jealous?” I question, turning and looking up at him.

“Of what?” he furrows his brows. “Are you going to go fuck them tonight?”

Shaking my head, I smirk again.

“Then why the hell would I be jealous?”

* * *

“Eli, this was really nice.” I whisper after our plates have been cleared from the table.

Reaching across the table, he smiles, grasping my hand. “You deserve it.”

Rolling my eyes, I shake my head.

“What?”

“You’re cheesy.” I laugh, trying to fight the blush that’s filling my cheeks.

“Shit,” Eli mutters as he looks over, shaking his head as he’s signing the check.

“What?”

“Matthews is here.”

“Who?”

Nodding in the direction behind me, he shakes his head. “Remember the guy you pissed off at McGuire’s? He and his wife are about 4 tables behind you. We’re gonna have to walk right past them.”

“Wait, he’s married?” I can’t help but laugh out, trying to maintain the volume.

“Yeah,” he nods his head. “You’d be surprised how often the married guys on the force cheat on their wives.”

“I don’t think I would be.” Although what surprises me is the revulsion that lines Eli’s face as he says it.

“Okay, so here’s the plan. You go to the bathroom. I’ll go outside.”

He gives me a questioning look.

“Trust me. You wait a few minutes and sneak out don’t let his wife see you.”

“Why don’t you just have the valet pull the truck around?”

“Because if he follows me out, he’ll recognize it as yours.”

He just nods.

“This way, if he follows me, I can lead him away and make him leave. You get the truck. If he doesn’t follow me out, cause he would honestly be an idiot to… then sneak by and it’s not an issue.” I laugh.

“Okay.” He pauses. “Which way?”

“What?”

“When you walk away from the restaurant, which way are you going?”

“Right.”

“Okay.”

Glancing over in their direction, he stands and hastily makes his way to the bathroom.

Standing up, I grab my purse off the table before heading towards the door.

Sure enough, I can feel the second his eyes land on me; the feeling makes me want to step outside my skin.

Leaning against the wall, I hear the door open, and footsteps stop right next to mine.

“You clean up nicely.” Matthews says.

“Great…” I mutter as if I wasn’t aware he was actually here.

Pushing myself off the wall, I turn right, heading in the direction I told Eli I’d walk in.

I’m not sure if I stunned him by walking off, if he’s trying to call my bluff, or if he’s trying to weigh how pissed off his wife will be, because he waits for a few minutes.

“Oh, why are you walking away?” he asks me.

“I was waiting for my car, but I’d rather walk than wait there being accosted by you.”

“Accosted?” He keeps up with my pace. “Sweetheart, don’t you know I am the law?”

“Ya know, I’m not sure I’ve ever heard a man use the term sweetheart not condescendingly.”

“Come on.” He laughs, grabbing my arm and stopping me.

Somehow I know Eli’s someone fuming watching him putting his hands on me.

“Get your fucking hand off me.”

“Why? You think I fear your brother?” he laughs loudly.

“No, because if you don’t. I’ll walk in there and tell your wife what you offered?”

He slowly removes his hand from gripping me.

“She wouldn’t believe you.” His voice gives away how scared that scenario makes him.

“Something tells me that’s not true. You shouldn’t be afraid of my brother; you should be afraid of me. Because I won’t fight fair. And I’ll break your fucking arm.”

His eyes widen as he looks at me; seeing I’m not playing around, he backs up, turning before he’s heading back towards the restaurant.

As soon as he’s back inside the building, Eli slides the truck next to where I’m still standing.

“I’m freezing now.” I laugh as I rub my arms with my hands.

“Here.” He laughs as he reaches into the back and hands me the hoodie from the backseat. “I’m gonna have to keep from beating the shit out of him from now on.” He whispers.

It makes me laugh as he says it. “Why?”

“For putting his hands on you. I waited for a second to make sure you handled it before I got into the truck.”

“I had it.” I tell him as he pulls the truck back out onto the road.

“I thought you would. Doesn’t mean I still don’t want to beat the hell out of him for it.”

“Awe.” I giggle again as I pull the hoodie up over my head, letting the hood cover my head as the rest of his oversized hoodie covers me, keeping the hood up. “Look at you caring and shit.” I tease him as I lean towards him.

“Watching you stand up to him was hot, though.”

“Was it?” I coo at him as my eyes trail down his body, the dress pants not doing a damn thing to hide his erection.

He says nothing, just glances over at me with a smirk.

Bracing myself on the center console as I lean over. “That must have been so hard for you to watch.”

The truck slows at a stoplight, and he leans into me, his face mere inches from mine.

His tongue coming out and licking his bottom lip before tugging it back with his teeth.

“You can go ahead and find out how hard it was…” he smirks, leaning in closer to me.

“Since we both know your mouth is salivating from staring at my cock.”

“I wasn’t.” I play innocent as I sit back up, glancing out the windshield as the light turns green.

“Sure you weren’t.” He laughs out as the truck moves again.

Looking out of the corner of my eyes, I gasp slightly before I’m turning and look forward, wide-eyed.

“You accidentally do it again?” he laughs.

Looking back at him, I force my eyes from staring at his erect cock and how it’s protruding from between the two halves of the zipper.

Lying on top of the console, my hands grip him before I’m wrapping my lips around the head.

“Fuck…” he gasps out as I take him all the way into my mouth, and an involuntary gag happens as I push him down the back of my throat.

My hand works the base of him as I move along his shaft.

His grunts fuel me. Lowering my mouth and taking him all the way in, and once again pushing him down the back of my throat.

The truck slows to a stop once more.

I groan out as his hand comes up, pushing against my head, wanting me to stay just as I am with his cock choking me.
