Stalker
Now that I had my best friend’s attention, I was nervous.
We were so alike in many ways. It was uncanny.
God, what if he thought about what I proposed and changed his mind?
I told him the truth. I could only do this with him.
However, regardless of his decision, I was going for what I wanted and needed—a woman who made me want to be with her every day for the remainder of my existence.
All that was to be determined was if Predator would help me make it happen for both of us.
He flopped down on his bed. He leaned against the headboard and stretched out his legs. Predator made sure not to put his boots on the cover. I sat at the foot of the bed, facing him. His gaze bored into me.
“Alright, we’re where we can talk without interruptions.
Swear to me this isn’t some spur-of-the-moment thing, and you’ve thought it through, and you’re committed to finding someone you can claim.
And that the ultimate win is if she’s someone we can share.
However, if we can’t find someone like Regan, you’re still planning to find a woman,” Predator stated.
“You got it. I’ve fucking thought about it so much, I have a headache. Yes, claiming one woman would be ideal, but I’m not gonna discount anyone if they say no.”
“Since you’ve thought so much about it, how do we go about trying to find a woman?” Predator asked. He leaned slightly toward me.
“That’s where we have to talk. Clearly, we’ll never find what we want out there. The women who keep coming here are a hell no. This leaves us going out into the civilian population. And the biggest place to meet them is at a bar. But…” I let myself trail off.
“The chances we’ll attract exactly the kind we’re passing up here are huge. Christ, where else can we meet someone?” Predator growled.
“I don’t know. I think we have to go to the experts. Tomorrow, let’s see if Tiger, Thorn, Steel, or Hammer is available for a talk. Surely they have some ideas,” I suggested.
We sat there talking in circles for another twenty minutes before I put a halt to it.
After that, we got drinks from our small stashes in our bedrooms and kicked back.
Most of us had a mini-fridge in our rooms. Walking to the common room bar or into the kitchen wasn’t always convenient.
I knew as we talked about ordinary things, both of us were fighting not to get lost in contemplating the old lady issue.
I wondered how long it would take us to find one or two ideal old ladies for us.
