Predator Chapter 1
Predator:
My ability to think rationally had flown out the window, and it was all the beauty in front of me’s fault.
I felt like I was under a spell as I soaked in what she looked like.
No one could look at her and not admire how gorgeous she was.
However, it was her body language and verbal remarks that I found the most intriguing.
I kept trying to ignore the fact that she lived with Jessup. She said when he left home.
Knowing she was either his girlfriend or his wife made me feel hollow inside. I wanted to howl with denial. She had snared my attention in a way no other woman ever had. Her mix of fiery resolve was a major turn-on. I wondered where else she might catch fire.
“How the fuck did you find out he’s getting out?” Jessup asked, disgruntled.
“Easy. You know I have contacts all over, Jess. The only reason I didn’t know before the letter arrived was that my contact at the prison was on vacation and just learned of it today.
We have a week before he’s set free. We need to plan this meticulously,” she told him.
Neither of them was shouting any longer.
“There won’t be any planning for you. This is for the law to do,” he replied.
Her head went back, and a loud, belly laugh left her. Heads throughout the bar turned to stare at her. It was low, throaty, and sexy as fuck.
“Don’t try to fool me. I know you two better than that. What are these other two doing here?”
Her swift change of topic put the spotlight on us. She scanned the parts of us she could see.
“These guys are two of my club brothers. This is Predator and the other is Stalker,” Stryder explained.
“Damn, those names you guys carry are as bad as military call signs. Hello, Predator, Stalker. I’m Stryder’s cousin and Jessup’s other sister, Dayanara.”
Her hand came out to me first. I took it before Stalker could.
Her grip was firm, and the shake was far from a wimpy one.
She made sure, as she shook hands, to give us a preliminary example of how unyielding she can be.
I was surprised at how strong it was. I was reluctant to let go, but I knew she needed her hand back at some point.
Stalker broke the spell as he situated himself closer to us.
What kept running through my mind was that she was Jessup’s sister, not his girlfriend or wife. Relief hit me.
“No one is trying to do anything to you. We’re merely here with our brother, Stryder,” Stalker told her as they shook hands.
“You might get away with telling lies to the other fools you meet, but I’m not one. I’m not sure why Stryder brought you with him, but this is a family affair. We’ll handle this,” she told him firmly.
“Daya, my club brothers are here to help. Our club can handle the Marshall issue. Just let us go home and talk to them about it,” Stryder said softly.
“Talk all you want, but while you’re doing that, I’ll be putting a plan in motion.
That cocksucker isn’t getting a chance to approach Brighton or harm anyone else.
You know that bastard isn’t cured or whatever the fuck they call it.
He’ll do it again. Only this time, to make sure he doesn’t get caught, he’ll probably kidnap, hold for a while, then kill his victims. He deserves to be put down like a rabid animal.
Only in his case, he’ll suffer first.” Fury and hatred were evident on her face.
“Listen, this isn’t the place to discuss this,” Jessup said.
“You chose it. Let’s go somewhere private,” Dayanara stated.
“We can’t go to the house. Brighton is there,” Jessup protested.
“No, she’s not. After you left, I convinced her to stay with Evie. She won’t be back until tomorrow,” his sister countered.
“Why would you do that?” Stryder asked.
“Because I knew Jess and I needed to talk. I figured he was meeting you when he left the house. You’re not as sneaky as you think, brother.” Dayanara smirked at her brother, who rolled his eyes.
“You’re not going to let this go,” Jessup stated. It wasn’t a question.
“Nope. So, if you want to help out with this hunt, I’ll see you back at the house. Don’t keep me waiting.”
Without another word, she turned around and walked toward the door.
When she did, tucked discreetly in the small of her back, I saw the grip of a handgun.
As she proceeded, she was definitely the focus of a lot of attention, but no one approached her.
In fact, they moved away, as if making a path for her.
I saw a few nod or give her a chin lift.
She returned them, but there was zero conversation.
As the door closed behind her, I had the urge to run after her and make sure she got home safely.
“Goddamn, let’s go. She means what she says. If we give her too much of a lead, she’ll be gone, and we’ll have a hard time finding her,” Jessup muttered, standing.
The rest of us did the same. Walking out to the bikes and Jessup’s vehicle, I had so many questions racing through my head, but they’d have to wait. Right now, the priority was to go after Dayanara so we could discover what she had in mind.
