9. Doll

CHAPTER NINE

DOLL

THE FOLLOWING MORNING

“ Y ou think they gon’ cancel the wedding since they can’t find Kaylan?” I asked Stoney as we exited the suite. That morning, we all received the memo that Kaylan was missing and they reported her disappearance to the authorities.

“I don’t know. Hopefully, they find her.”

We traveled to the elevator and took it down to the lobby. Stoney and I had planned on having a self-care day at the spa. We don’t know what the other activities were for the day and seeing how they didn’t know where the fuck the bride was, it didn’t really matter. I came on this trip to have a good time and that’s what I was gon’ do. Kaylan’s ass missing was the least of my fucking worries.

“Doll.” Stoney stopped in her tracks and tightly gripped my arm. I halted and looked up, seeing Kaylan skipping down the hallway in nothing but a white robe with her arms spread out wide. The bitch twirled in the middle of the hallway, and I knew she had to be on some shit. The ho was higher than a giraffe’s pussy.

“Good morning, my lovely cousin,” Kaylan sang when she stopped in front of us. She pulled me into an embrace and I shoved her away from me.

“Bitch, ain’t you supposed to be missing?” My brow arched as I examined her. She had flowers resting in her messy ass hair, looking like she fell asleep in a flower bed. This bitch was tripping.

“Who said I was missing?”

“Yo’ fucking man, that’s who. He reported yo’ stupid ass to the police and everything.” Kaylan snickered as if I said something humorous.

“He’s so silly. Bloop.” The tip of her index finger tapped me on the tip of my nose, and I whacked her hand away.

“Ho, what the fuck are you on?”

“Kaylan!” a masculine voice barked from the opposite side of the hallway. My eyes shifted to Schizo, who stood there, eyes low and red. He’d probably been smoking like a fucking train.

She spun ’round and spread her arms wide for him to enter ’em. “Where the fuck have you been? I’ve been worried sick ’bout you.”

“I was with Doll and Stoney.”

My lips parted for me to correct that fucking lie that seeped from her lips ’til Stoney nudged me. That was the only reason I was gon’ let her live. His eyes darted over the top of her head in our direction, and I nodded.

“You can’t be just disappearing like that. You have to let people know where the fuck you at. At least take yo’ phone with you. Got me calling the cops and shit, knowing damn well I don’t fuck with ’em like that.”

“Aww, I’m sorry, babe. I won’t do it again.” Getting on her tippy toes, she pecked him on the lips. “You forgive me?”

“I’m just glad that you’re safe.”

“I’m gonna hang out with the girls for a bit.”

“The hell you—” Stoney nudged me again and I was ’bout ready to lay her ass the fuck out at this point. Listen, I already lied for the bitch ’bout her being with us, I wasn’t ’bout to spend my me time with the ho too.

“I’ll see you back in the room.” She pecked him on the corner of the mouth and he sauntered off.

“Ho, don’t have me out here doing yo’ dirty work,” I immediately went in on her ass once he was no longer in earshot.

“Just chill.” She reached into her robe pocket and pulled out a Ziploc bag. “Y’all wanna take some shrooms with me?”

“Bitch, have you lost yo’ fucking mind?” Stoney questioned her. We were finally on the same page.

“I’m telling you this the best fucking high I’ve ever been on.”

“I’m not taking that shit. If you thought that was what we was ’bout to do, this ain’t that.” Stoney gripped me by the hand and pulled me away from Kaylan. “I really don’t see how she got him.” She frowned, letting me know that there was definitely feelings there for Schizo.

“Why don’t you just tell him how you really feel?”

“Don’t start, D.”

“I’m serious. I know you like him and I can tell that he probably likes you too how he be looking at you whenever y’all be ’round each other. You need to tell him how you really feel before he wind up marrying that crazy bitch. You’ll probably never get another chance to say anything.”

“I am not ’bout to be the reason they call the wedding off. Uh uh.” Stoney shook her head.

We finally made it to the spa and went into the locker room to change into our robes. Stoney and I posed for a couple pictures in the mirror. Ever since I got out of prison and I realized just how much I missed out on, I was catching every memory I possibly could.

We wrapped our heads up with a towel and exited the locker room. A couple women were standing there waiting for us. They escorted us into a room where there were two tables and a table filled with different sorts of wine. The room was gorgeous and dimly lit with candles. Just from the aura alone, I could sense I wasn’t gon’ want to leave here. From where I stood, I saw a balcony out back that overlooked the ocean.

We both lay down on the tables on our backs and the women began doing our facials. Once we were done with those, we sat outside on the balcony with a glass of wine.

“Bitch, ain’t that Kaylan?” I asked Stoney as I peeked over the rail and saw what looked to be her crawling on the beach. The ho wanted us to take that shit with her so that we’d be out there acting a whole ass right along with her. No ma’am.

“Yes!” Stoney burst out laughing and so did I.

After we downed a whole bottle of wine, we moved to the sauna and sat in there for ’bout thirty minutes. We then took a dip in the pool and called it quits. I felt rejuvenated by the time we were done.

Stoney decided to run and grab something to eat while I went back to the suite to take a nap. On my way there, I saw Jerrell hop on the elevator. That should have been my cue to wait for the next one, but I was exhausted and wanted to climb in bed. I slipped onto the elevator and stood as far away from him as possible.

“You’ve been keeping yo’ distance from me. Why?” He turned and faced me. I continued to stare straight ahead in hopes he’d get the memo and leave me the fuck alone, or else he was gon’ happily be flying through that glass back down to the lobby. “So you don’t hear me talking to you?”

“Jerrell, you’re no longer worth my fucking energy.”

He stepped in front of me and asked, “So you just gon’ pretend like what we had was nothing?”

“Nigga.” My eyes expanded, ’cause what a broke ass nigga was gon’ have was the fucking audacity. “Ain’t you here with my sister? You’re the one that acts like what we had was nothing and that’s fine with me, ’cause I been over yo’ dusty ass. It’s just the fact that you chose to fuck my sister that got me looking at you sideways. That shit was trifling as fuck. All y’all knew it, that’s why they stayed away from me while I was locked up. It’s cool though, ’cause all y’all gon’ fucking reap what you sow. Get the fuck out my way.”

I pressed the elevator to make it stop so I could get off. I could no longer be in this tiny ass space with him or else I might end up doing something I’d regret. Rell had already taken four years of my life. I wasn’t ’bout to allow him to take another second away from me.
