26. Scar

CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

SCAR

I stood there and watched the doors shut on Doll. When my eyes landed on her, my heart dropped to my fucking ass. I hadn’t seen her since I talked with Ma and really found out that I had been falling for her ass the entire time. I had never been in love with anyone before, so I didn’t fully understand what the fuck was happening to me. Her seeing Tonya stretched out in my bed like that was embarrassing. Had I known she was working for me, I would have been tiptoeing ’round this mufucka to spare her feelings. The way she reacted when she found out ’bout Chante threw our entire vibe off.

Chante was still angry as fuck with me. When I made it back to the hotel room that night, she was long gone. All her belongings were gone as well. I tried reaching out to her but hadn’t yet heard anything back.

As if that wasn’t enough, imagine my surprise when I went by there to talk to Doll and her ass was gone too. She and Stoney had long checked out on my ass. When I went to Schizo ’bout the situation, he told me how he smashed Stoney and left her ass on the beach. It was fucked up. He should have let shawty know his intentions were to still be a groom the following morning and maybe she wouldn’t have been hurt.

Schizo was nothing like me. Whenever he fucked someone, he caught feelings. He had himself in a lil dilemma, torn between two women. I tried to tell that nigga he had to take his feelings out of shit. Nigga was too fucking emotional for me.

I marched upstairs and snatched the covers back off Tonya. “Get the fuck up,” I told her, and she stirred in her sleep.

“What’s wrong with you?” she asked, mumbling, wiping the sleep from her eyes with her fist.

“It’s time for yo’ ass to go. You’ve been here long enough.”

Sighing, she sat straight up in my bed. I grabbed her clothes off the floor and tossed ’em in her face. Here I was taking my frustrations out on her as if it was her fault Doll saw her ass in here. I was in here acting like a bruised nigga who just got caught cheating on his girl.

“Looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed.” She slipped her shirt down over her head and slung her legs over the edge of the bed.

“No need for the dramatics. Just getcha ass up and go.”

Shimmying into her jeans, she asked, “When I’m gon’ see you again?”

“Never.”

Her brows furrowed. “What the hell you mean never?”

“Exactly what the fuck I said. Never.”

“You been acting real brand fucking new ever since you got back from that trip of yours.”

“Nobody asked you shit. Get the fuck out.”

I tossed her purse at her, and she frowned. “I don’t know what yo’ problem is. Call me whenever you come off yo’ period,” she said and stomped past me.

My vibrating phone grasped my attention. I picked it up and saw that it was Lil D hitting my line.

Lil D: It was Pun who stole everything out the warehouse. I finally got all the video footage and caught him. I can send it over to you now if you want me to.

I figured it was that bitch ass nigga ’cause he disappeared right before we made it to Montgomery to meet up with Tucker. When I get my hands on that nigga, he was gon’ wish his mama swallowed his sorry ass.

Me: Yeah. Send it over.

I placed my phone down on the counter and went into the bathroom to handle my hygiene. I picked my toothbrush up off the counter and dropped it when I heard my name. “Scar!” It was one of those gut-wrenching screams, so I knew something was wrong.

Slipping my piece off the nightstand, I slid on my briefs and ran to the staircase. Tonya stood there at the elevator directly in front of Stoney, who was covered in blood. The shit dripped from her fucking fingertips down to the floor.

I ran full speed down the stairs to her and pushed Tonya out the way. “What the fuck happened?” I examined her to make certain she wasn’t the one bleeding.

“I-I—they…” Gripping her by the shoulders, I gazed deep into her eyes.

“Breathe,” I instructed her.

Stoney closed her eyes and took a couple deep breaths. When her eyes opened, she continued, “I was making rounds and saw that one of the doors was cracked. I tried to save him. I really did.”

“Save who?”

“I don’t know. Some guy. He’s lying on the floor dead.”

“What room?”

“Suite five sixty-six.”

“Go home, get yourself cleaned up, and I’ll take care of it.”

“I already called the police.”

“Why you did that!” I asked a lil louder than I intended to.

“Isn’t that what I was supposed to do?”

“You didn’t do anything wrong. Wait right here.” I jogged back upstairs and grabbed her a pair of briefs and a t-shirt she could put on. The last thing I wanted was for the customers to see her and freak the fuck out. “Put this on,” I told her when I got back to her.

“Can you turn ’round so I can change.” I did as I was told. She got dressed and handed me her bloody clothes. I tossed ’em in the trashcan.

“Gone home. I got everything from here.”

I yanked Tonya on the elevator and took ’em both down to the basement. The entire ride down there, Stoney stood there in shock. Whoever she found dead was probably her first dead body. She damn sure didn’t have the reaction I had when I saw mine when I was eight years old.

“Text me and let me know when you made it to the house.”

“What ’bout me?” Tonya questioned, and I shoved her ass off the elevator.

I went up to the fifth floor and made my way to room five sixty-six. The door was still cracked open. From Stoney’s reaction, I know she screamed her ass off when she saw that body, so I was surprised that no one was already in there. When I stepped into the room, I found Pun resting on the floor alongside the bed with a bullet hole in the center of his head.

I hit up the clean-up crew to let ’em know that they needed to find their way to the hotel then shot Schizo a text.

I hate to cut yo’ honeymoon short, but you need to get yo’ ass home.

When the police arrived, I was just gon’ take care of ’em. No way I was ’bout to let ’em up in here and start no damn investigation and end up incriminating our asses.
