24~ The Father and Son Duo
"Aviraj Chaudhary", my father said as we both sipped our coffees.
Yesterday night was hard for everyone, especially Hrishika.
She woke up panting and crying several times.
Not even dad could calm her, she just murmured to save her.
She was begging to save her. It broke me, it broke how my always smiling sister was suffering.
Hrishit was suffering as well. I never understood the twins, they fight and cry together.
He was continuously blaming himself, he said that it was his duty to take care of Hrishika but wasn't it mine?
I am the eldest, it's my duty to protect my siblings.
"Do I know him?", I asked, and he passed me the newspaper cutting. I read it and my jaw dropped.
"The heir of Chaudhary textiles, Aviraj Chaudhary getting married in a week".
The news headline said. He is so nasty! Shame on him! These types of boys are defaming the whole male clan! Their hormones are out of control! They should get themselves checked up.
"What? Are you kidding me dad? Heir of Chaudhary textiles?
This is insane!", I yelled and banged my head on the table.
I just can't believe this! I knew these richies are spoiled brats but how could he stoop so low and especially when the talk of his wedding is the most sought after talk in the city?
I can't believe how shithead he is! Ruining the lives of two women!
He is such a bastard. He should be ashamed after doing such things, playing with the life of his wife and my sister.
"That's what the security camera showed.
I got them checked in front of me", he replied and I sighed.
Police won't do anything against him, he is really rich.
Law goes where money is. Such an irony! No one would like to listen to a doctor seeking justice for his sister.
Just feed them money and they'll be in your pockets. There is no justice!
"Now what?", mom asked, taking a seat beside Dad. He sighed and said, "He's rich, no one would see our story."
"That's so unfair! What's the use of law then?", my mother roared, throwing her hands in the air.
"Nothing", my father nonchalantly said. Honestly, law in India is slow, too slow, slower than a sloth.
Even if a woman gets raped, she'll get justice after decades and politicians will only justify the rapist saying it was a mistake.
A mistake shouldn't destroy someone's whole life.
Do they know that their "mistake" gives the survivor lifelong scars, trauma and pain that they can't forget?
"I'll beat him to pulps", I suggested and my mother snorted.
"And get your licence cancelled. Both father and son are impulsive jerks", she muttered and both dad and I looked at each other and then at mom.
"What? I told the truth!", she exclaimed and both of us rolled our eyes.
"Haan theek Hai, you are always correct, now happy?", my father sarcastically said and she casted a glare at him.
"Jo bhi Hai, Hrishika is having panic attacks, I think we need to counsel her.
Till then, I'm not letting my daughter go anywhere, I'll keep her with me", mom said.
Dad nodded as it was the best suggestion for now.
He was taking advantage, the hospital being the busiest. No one would be suspicious of him bullying a doctor in private.
But the question is how did he meet Hrishika?
She's a doctor while he a businessman, how could he possibly know about Hrishika?
And like the amazing law we have, there is no provision for the safety of doctors on duty, especially in government hospitals.
My phone rang, attracting attention from both of my parents. I squinted my eyes at them and stood up. They curiously kept looking at me. Irritated by their behaviour, I went to my room. I picked up the call without looking at the caller ID.
"Hey! Good morning", I heard Akriti's voice. Warmth spread throughout my body as I heard her calming voice. I felt a spark of contentment as I realised that she called me this early.
"Hi", I said, still not believing that she really called me, after what happened yesterday. She did deny the relationship but it was her choice. At Least now, I won't live in guilt that I didn't confess.
"How's she?", Akriti asked and I sighed.
"Not okay, she couldn't sleep properly the whole night", I said sadly.
"And you?", she interrogated.
"How can I be okay when my family is not?
", I asked back. I'm not even one percent fine.
I just want to kill that bastard with my bare hands.
I want to see him suffer, I want to hear his cries, I want him to beg just like my sister is.
I want to see him bleeding, dying painfully, suffering!
I want him to cry tears of blood. He dared to touch my sister and now he deserves hell.
"Did you find the culprit?", she asked, her voice coming out as a mere whisper. Should I tell her? Wouldn't she think of us as a liar after knowing who did the crime?
"Aviraj Chaudhary", I gritted out and heard her gasp. Now she'll say that I'm lying. Power money has! It brainwashes the mind of commoners.
"I knew he and his father were pieces of shits, but this?", she roared and for a second I was surprised. Well, that was unexpected. Seems like she knows him, but how does she? I suppressed the urge to ask her questions, trying not to poke in her matters but she kept on throwing curses.
"If I get hold of him, I'll beat the shit out of him, uneducated crook!
That bastard, how dare he! Stupid! And his father said he is a gem, gem huh?
He is shit!", she yelled through the phone.
My eyes nearly bulged out of my sockets hearing her say all of this.
I never ever expected this form of Akriti.
What if? What if she curses me as well privately? Gosh! That's bad!
"I HATE THAT FUCKER!", she yelled so loudly that I had to keep my phone a lot away from my ears so that my tympanic membrane doesn't burst. Her shouting made me realise that she knows him personally, maybe, maybe she was in a relationship with him and he cheated on her.
If my guesswork is correct then it's messed up.
"How can he scoop so low?", after a while I heard her sob. Oh no! She sniffed and said, "First his father destroyed my mother's life and now he is hell bent on destroying Hrishika!"
My eyes widened. I tried to connect the dots.
Her mother's life? Was her mother in relationship with Mr. Chaudhary?
Or did he do something traumatic with her?
This is getting confusing. I can't understand what is happening.
Wait! Did he murdered Akriti's father? That's getting complicated but the only thing that I can make out is that both father and son are the same.
"Do you know them?", I asked carefully.
"Know them? I fucking carry his blood in my veins", she cried angrily making my surprise.
I was extremely shocked, that means Akriti is Chaudhary's sister but then why does she use Tiwari and most importantly why did Adrija said that her father is dead?
Additionally, why does she and her mother not live with them?
"Akriti, I am in no mood for jokes", I seriously said. She is definitely joking, that's unbelievable. Which sister would say such things about her brother and father?
"I don't joke Adhyay", she dangerously said and I gulped. How did my life get so messed up?
"That means-", I started only to be interrupted by her in between who said,
"Mr. Viraj Chaudhary married my mother and was my sperm donor. As soon as I was born, he divorced mumma and married that witch who gave birth to that shit who can't respect women".
She said all of that in one breath and after she had completed, she took a deep breath.
Wow! Just wow! Both father and son are made up of the same shits! I can't really believe how Aviraj threatened my sister and his father abandoned Akriti!
"It's in their veins", we both said simultaneously.
Hey hey hey!
How was the chapter?
