Chapter 14
Chapter Fourteen
Stormy
The plane touches down in Fairbanks, and I’m nervous.
We called my father and brother yesterday after we woke up again after Cronus burst into our bedroom.
I know where Maisy is, and she’ll be here soon to stay with me.
I wanted her on the plane with me, but she was worried Hermes would tell Cronus.
Atlas said he wouldn’t tell him, but that keeping her hidden was going to be hard.
It will be even harder once he finds out the full truth, but I’m going to do everything I can to help my girl.
The door opens and the stairs drop to the ground. I can’t stand up. I’m scared. We didn’t tell my family about getting married. It was my idea, and I know Atlas is pissed about it.
I want my family to get used to me being back before I explain that Atlas and I are together.
“Come on, baby.” Atlas holds out his hand, and I take it.
As soon as we reach the door, I let go and stare out into the cold February air. There they all are. I’m already overwhelmed.
Looking out, I see my brother break away and start moving toward the stairs, but I can’t do this. I’m not the same girl who was kidnapped from here.
“I don’t know if I can do this.” I lean back against Atlas. “I’m scared.”
He wraps his hand around my hip and holds me close. I watch my brother’s face as he notices, but I ignore him.
“You got this, baby. You’re stronger than you think.”
“I’m not the same girl I was,” I tell him.
“I know.”
He drops his head to my shoulder, and I feel his hot breath against my skin. It calms me. I don’t know how long I’ll be able to hold out without him.
Gurgi, who has already descended the steps, climbs back up and presses into my body too.
“It’s not just physically,” I say.
“Believe me, I know. It’s why I love you so much. You can do this. I told you I wouldn’t rush you. This is me not rushing you.”
He steps back, and I feel the instant chill behind me.
I pull my shoulders back and slowly descend the stairs. My brother wraps me in his arms and practically lifts me off the ground. He drags me away when I glance back for Atlas. He followed me down the stairs and hovers like a sentry, waiting for me to say something, but he doesn’t interfere.
My father hugs me and holds me tight as he thanks God. I hug them all, but by the time they’re done, my nerves are fried. I’m pulled toward a vehicle, and before I can say anything to Atlas, I’m in the back seat, and we’re driving away.
Titan
I’m painfully aware of the fact my wife is not with me.
The Handmaidens are celebrating the return of their sister, and I haven’t held or kissed my wife in over twenty-four hours.
Thad and her father took her to their home.
She texted me last night, saying she misses me and wishes I were there.
It took everything in me not to rush to her side, but I told her I would honor her wishes.
I told her I wouldn’t rush her, and she wanted to hide our relationship.
Sitting in the DHMC Alaska clubhouse because Drago was invited, I lean back in the chair, my long legs stretched out. Riddler and Thad are here, but my wife isn’t. Riddler said that Terry, Stormy’s father, wanted a night with her by himself. He and his girlfriend, Vixen, took her to dinner.
My phone buzzes, and I pull it out of my pocket.
My Wife
What are you doing?
Me
Sitting at a party.
My Wife
Where?
Me
The Handmaiden’s clubhouse.
My Wife
Remember, you’re married now.
Me
I remember and miss my wife so much.
My Wife
I miss you too, especially last night.
Me
You didn’t come find me.
My Wife
I wish I could. They wouldn’t leave me alone. Maisy will be here in a couple of days.
Me
I know. I tracked her today. Cronus is going to find her if we aren’t careful.
My Wife
That’s between them. I only said I’d keep her safe and hidden until he did find her. She’s hurt and upset.
Me
I understand.
A bottle of beer lands on the table in front of me. “Want a drink?” A girl who followed one of my prospects sits down next to me.
“Not interested,” I tell her, returning to my phone, but my wife hasn’t said anything else.
The bottle sits in front of me, getting warm, but I won’t take a drink from another woman.
My brother must take pity on me because he comes over with a fresh beer and hands it to me.
I take a deep swallow as I glance around the party.
People are starting to hook up, and that’s my cue to get out of here.
“Your wife should be here,” Reaper says, leaning forward, his voice low.
“She wanted time for her family to get used to her being home before she told them we’re married.”
“I know. But as you know from River and me, that doesn’t always work out. Secrets have a way of surfacing.”
I hear giggling and then the chick from earlier falls into my lap. I’m about to jump up when she’s grabbed by someone I can’t make out in my rush to get the woman off me.
“Get the fuck off my husband, bitch.”
I hear my wife and can’t hide the smile. She came to me. I jump up, and the woman falls to the floor as Stormy stands over her.
“He’s not your husband. I’m going home with him tonight,” the crazy girl says.
“The fuck you say.” Stormy holds out a hand to help up the girl.
“Oh, thank you so much.”
I watch the switch flip, and I know it’s going to be bad, but I’m not going to stop it.
Stormy keeps a hold of her hand and twists her arm up her back in a move I know she learned from Riddler. My wife pushes the girl toward the entrance of the club, and I follow along behind her.
“Baby, I didn’t lead her on. She isn’t going home with me.” I try to diffuse the situation.
Stormy stops just before the door. “Don’t you baby me. I know she was talking to you earlier. Why do you think I’m here? River sent me the picture.”
I glance over at River, who shakes her head, and that’s when my brother busts out laughing.
“Karma’s a bitch, big brother.” Reaper laughs, and I remember getting him in trouble with River before their marriage came out.
My wife continues pushing the girl toward the entrance, and Ginger holds the door open for her, along with Riddler.
“Don’t come back. He’s my husband, bitch.” Stormy shoves her out the door.
I’m about to pull my girl into my arms when she’s yanked out of the way and a fist comes flying at my face.
The punch takes me by surprise, and I hit the floor hard, my bell ringing and my head swimming.
I hear my wife screaming and my brother yelling, but it’s my wife’s voice that gets me up and moving.
“Let me go,” she screams, and I try to figure out how to extricate her from her brother’s hold without hurting her.
That’s when I pull my gun. It cocks, and everyone freezes.
“Get your hands off my wife. I don’t care if you’re her brother. I’ll maim you.”
He lets go of her right away, and she rushes to me. I pull her into the arm that isn’t holding my gun. My men close in behind me, and the Handmaidens circle around us, but Thad stands there, staring me down.
“How can she be your wife? You just saved her. Or did you lie about that? It doesn’t matter. She doesn’t know what she wants. She’s been traumatized for so long.”
Stormy stands straight and positions her body in front of mine.
“Excuse me. Excuse the fuck out of me. I don’t know what I want?
Bullshit. Atlas is my husband. We got married a couple of days ago.
He wanted to tell you, but I was the one who thought you couldn’t handle it.
Boy, was I right. He’s been there for me.
He’s helped me. He came for me when I needed him. ” She’s defending me.
“He didn’t come for you. We sent him. He had no clue who you were before you disappeared.”
“Now wait—” I say, but Stormy holds up her hand.
“The day I was kidnapped, he took a bullet trying to stop them from taking me. He knew who I was. Atlas told me the moment he saw me, he knew I was meant to be his. That’s why he’s worked so hard to find me. When he did, I ran because I was scared. Trust is hard for me.”
“Stormy, you don’t understand.” Thad moves toward us.
I lower my gun to my side.
Riddler pulls on her husband’s arm. “Thad, baby, let’s take this to the office. I knew something was going on. I should have warned you, but you were being stubborn.” Riddler tries to hold him back.
“What do you mean you knew?” He looks down at his wife.
“I saw them at the airport. You did too. You just ignored it. Come on. He cares for her, and obviously she cares for him.”
“No. I love him,” Stormy says. “I love Atlas, and he loves me. It’s not just caring when you’ve been through what I have. You grab onto love and hold on tight. That’s what I’m doing. I doubted him at first, but I’ll never do that again.”
“On that note, I haven’t held my wife since the airport. I’m taking her out of here. We can talk about this tomorrow.”
Thad wants to fight me, but I holster my gun and throw my wife over my shoulder. I storm out of the clubhouse and across the highway to my own clubhouse.
When I finally set her down, we’re in my room.
I look her up and down, taking in her sexy, long dress, with slits up the sides to above her knees.
I’ve never seen her brown cowboy boots before, but I’m liking them on her.
I push the heavy winter jacket off her shoulders and let it fall to the floor.
“Wife, you have thirty seconds to get naked, or I’m going to rip the fuck out of the dress to get to you.”
I chuckle as she laughs and immediately unzips the front of her dress. She lets it slide down her body and steps out of her boots. She’s before me in a bra and her thong.
I pick her up, and she wraps herself around me, her hands going into my hair and holding my head as I take her lips in a deep kiss.
“Fuck me good, husband. I missed you.”
“Damn straight.”
I drop her onto the mattress and strip out of my clothes.
Once I’m naked, I crawl up the bed and rip the thong from her body.
She cries out as my lips wrap around her clit, and her hands dig into my hair again.
With my hands under her ass, I lift her up as an offering and eat her out.
I’m starved for her taste. I lick and suck her until she screams and comes on my beard and face.
Using the back of my hand, I wipe off the excess and flip her over, then tug her ass into the air.
“Don’t ever doubt me, baby. You’re mine, and no other woman will ever take your spot.”
I slide into her tightness. She throws back her head, and I grab a fistful of hair and fuck into her, long and deep. She’s still spasming from her orgasm. Between the ripples and missing her, I won’t last long.
Reaching around Stormy’s body, I play with her clit until she tightens again and screams my name. I push deep and come hard inside her.
When she starts to fall to the bed, I flip her around to face me and bury my still hard cock back inside her body.
“I’m serious, baby. I don’t regret marrying you, ever. I only ever want you.”
“I want you too. I’ll never regret getting married to you either. I just saw that girl on your lap and freaked out.”
“She fell on me.”
“I figured that out, but it was too late by then.” She giggles.
I make love to her, slowly this time. As we fall asleep wrapped around each other, I realize we only made it a day and a half before she told her family we’re married.
