19 Kimber #2
He doesn’t seem bothered, humming as I drag him up the steps to the roof.
It’s cooler up here, with a small fire pit in the center providing warmth for patrons while remaining safely within fire regulations.
There’s another couple sitting near the pit, the rest of the rooftop decorated with small string lights to give it a soft, comforting glow.
Tilting my head back I frown, looking at a night sky that doesn’t shine as brightly in the city.
Rich follows my gaze. “It’s different from Euphoria.”
I never gave it much thought but S&S really is something all its own.
I’m relieved to be here again, and I doubt David would show Vinny something for court if he didn’t believe it would be enough to get everything dropped.
There’s no reason to think I won’t be able to come and go as I please from Sins again.
Turning, I smile up at him. The lights are soft, but it’s enough I can make out the expressions on his face. “They’re different types of clubs.”
Rich chuckles and nods, guiding me towards two chairs where there isn’t a crowd. I don’t mind if there are people nearby, or even watching, but only when it’s about sex. I’m not shy about my sexuality, but I am shy about the thoughts in my head. It hurts more when people judge those.
He tugs me down onto his lap and I wrap myself around him. The dress moves easily, letting me twist until I’m basically clinging to him, the fabric hanging off the chair around me. I tuck my head against his chest and let him stroke his fingers down my back. It’s calming, and my eyes fall closed.
“I told you,” he says, keeping his voice soft and gentle. It’s a sharp contrast to the way he talks to me during sex, and I didn’t really expect such gentleness when I realized we were coming to Sins. “Everything will be okay.”
“I’m not used to things working out,” I tell him honestly, turning so I can rest my chin on his shoulder.
It lets me look out at the lights of the city, the safety bar around the roof, the only thing blocking an otherwise beautiful view.
I’m a city girl through and through, and I’m used to not seeing that much of the night sky thanks to the city lights.
I’m surprised to find that I miss the stars a little bit, like all the ones I was able to see out at the cabin.
“It doesn’t usually work that way for me. ”
“Luck favors the brave,” he tells me, shifting his hand. There’s a bite to the air out here tonight, and when he trails his fingers down my bare flesh it leaves a tingling sensation behind. “You’re being brave now and standing up for yourself.”
I shrug, the movement awkward while I’m twisted around him. “I guess. I’m just trying to move on with my life. I didn’t think dating Jonah would nearly ruin it.”
He stiffens beneath me before pulling back, grasping both of my cheeks so I can’t look away from him. “He was a mistake. And he’s gone, because you were brave. He didn’t ruin your life, Kimber. He forced you to pivot and change parts of yourself.”
His grip loosens, stroking my cheek instead of holding me in place.
His violet eyes shine in the string lights, and I lean in to skim my lips across his.
He only lets me do it for a moment before the grip is back, and he holds me away just far enough that we can’t kiss but I can feel his breath on my lips.
“You’re very strong,” he continues, his other arm coming to circle my waist. “And you’re not alone.”
I squirm on his lap, narrowing my eyes. I wanted to come up here and breathe a little, maybe shut my brain off. But he’s looking at me like he has to spit this out or he’s going to lose it, so I bite my tongue and just nod.
“You have to cut back on the drinking,” he says, and although it’s kind of a mood killer all I can do is groan. He’s commented on this a lot, and it’s not that I’ve started drinking less per say, I’m just creative with it. “It’s bad for your health, and I need you whole.”
Frowning, I try to figure out what that’s supposed to mean, but he leans in closer and kisses my neck.
His grip on my face loosens so I can tip my head back and give him better access, sighing at the feel.
This feels a little like manipulation, but tonight has too many ups and downs and I really need something to pick me up again.
He bites down between my neck and shoulder and I hiss, digging my nails into his skin. It causes me to arch deeper into his body, and the dress may as well already be on the ground with how high it’s risen on my thighs.
Rich nibbles on my skin until I whimper, and there’s definitely going to be a mark there, I’m sure of it.
Instead of being annoyed, because I haven’t had a lot of guys give me hickeys since high school, I grind down on his lap and moan.
Rich is the one and only person I’ll accept leaving marks on me like this.
“Promise you’ll work on it with me,” he says, finally letting me go as I moan. “However long it takes. You deserve to be the best you.”
