Chapter 25

FUCK THE DINNER

I don’t bring up leaving again and Lachlan doesn’t either. We settle into a routine of having breakfast together where we still sit apart, me by Rory and him at the head of the table. We exchange heated looks though, that makes the regular sex we’re having even hotter.

Every day after breakfast, Lachlan tugs me into the billiard room and eats me out on the pool table before he works in his study. I either research for my bookstore in the tower library and read a bit, or I ride in the afternoon, depending on how sore I am and what the weather’s like.

When Lachlan found out I’ve been riding on my own, with only a satellite phone, he insisted I take Boyd.

But during sex that night—always in his bed where we fall asleep with me in his arms—I talked him into letting me continue to go alone.

He agreed, but a drone followed me and Kelpie the next day.

We fought over his controlling behavior that night, which ended in the hottest sex of my life.

“Remember when I told you there is no place you can hide that I won’t find you?”

He texted it to me when I fled after our wedding.

I scowled. “I’m not anywhere in the world. I’m on your protected land!”

“It doesn’t matter. I need to know you’re safe at all times. I need to see it with my own eyes. Boyd was wrong to let you go. He will never make that mistake again.”

Boyd had a black eye when I saw him.

“You punched him?”

Lachlan arched a brow as if to say how dare I question his methods?

“You can be such an ass.” I turned to stalk out of his bedroom, but he grabbed my arms and hauled me back against him. I resisted, growing wet as he kissed a trail down my neck. Still, I tried to get away, even though my breath was racing.

He took off his belt like he was undressing, but instead, he used it to tie my hands behind my back.

“What are you doing?” I asked nervous but also burning with desire.

“I’m reminding you of who’s in charge around here.” He cut my clothes from my body then bent me over the arm of a chair, face down, and forced my legs apart. “Don’t move or I’ll hogtie you,” he warned.

I did not want to be bound like a hog, so I stayed put while he stripped. Despite being embarrassed at this exposed, vulnerable position, I grew even more aroused. What was he doing to me?

Lachlan kissed a path from my neck to my lower back and fingered me while fisting my long braid until I was sopping to the point that you could hear it.

I moaned and squirmed as my sensitive nipples rubbed against the fabric of the chair. As soon as I’d get close to coming, Lachlan would stop.

“Do you want me to fuck your hot pussy and ease your ache, my princess?

I told him no twice, but when he brought me to the brink of climax a third time, I was begging.

“Yes! Please, Lachlan. Fuck me, fuck me hard.” I never thought I’d reach that point, but he has a way of pushing me to my limits.

“That’s my good girl,” he purred, still fisting my braid.

He slammed into me so hard I screamed in pleasure.

Any other time, the punishing way he pounded into me would have been too much.

But with all the anger and desire coursing through me, and the many times he’d brought me close to coming, this was exactly what I needed.

The whole time he’d ask questions and demand I answer so that I’d speak and breathe.

“Do you like taking my fat cock from behind?”

“Do you know how good your pussy feels gripping my dick?”

“Can you feel how wet you are and how much you love this, my wild cat?”

My orgasm shot through me like a lightning strike, hot, blinding, and consuming. I screamed and collapsed over the chair when he let go of my braid and came inside me.

I couldn’t walk after. I literally collapsed when he pulled me upright after untying my wrists. He had to carry me to his bed and leave me there for a while so I could catch my breath.

“You didn’t faint,” he murmured as he brushed my hair from my face and snuggled me from behind.

How can he go from brutal to sweet?

I had only fainted one other time since we started having sex. I remembered holding my breath right before I climaxed. Not on purpose, it just happened.

Lachlan didn’t freak out either, now that he knows it’s a subconscious reaction. He did treat me like glass for the rest of the night though. His fire and ice personality bleeds to every area of his life, including sex.

He never raises his voice, but he grits his teeth and scowls. He prefers dominance to get his way. With everything he lost, I’ve learned control is his coping mechanism.

Was it four weeks ago that I said I wanted to leave and go back to America?

Time seems to be slipping by without me caring.

As much as I’m enjoying this new way of life, I miss home.

I miss my friends, my social life, my goals.

Here, I’m trapped, no matter how much land or activities are available to me.

Dinner includes just Lachlan and me tonight. I sit beside him at the head of the table. “Where’s Rory?” I sip my wine.

“At the village pub. He’s been hooking up with one of the waitresses.”

“I wouldn’t have expected that.”

“Why not?” He swirls the scotch in his tumbler as we wait for the next course.

“Status seems like it’s important in your family—well, to one side at least.”

“He’s having fun. He knows his place though, and that he’ll be expected to marry someone with Scottish nobility.”

“Why? I didn’t think that was required.” Their title is gone.

“To appease Angus.” He sips the sweeter scotch he switched to for me.

“That man has a lot of power.” I shiver reflexively.

Lachlan puts his arm around me and takes my chin, holding my gaze. “He’ll never touch you again. No one will. Or my face is the last thing they’ll ever see.” He rubs his thumb over my bottom lip and kisses me fiercely, not even breaking it when the sound of servers becomes evident in the room.

This is new.

After some deep tonguing, Lachlan frees me and wipes his mouth.

I’m breathless and lightheaded like always. The servers must have left because they’re nowhere in sight.

I gulp my wine to help me calm down and adjust my dress. The material is twisted like I tried to climb his lap. Did I?

The servers reenter as if they’d been waiting just outside. They serve us lamb with roasted vegetables and herb potatoes.

I wait until they leave to ask, “Have you closed your business with that side of the family?” Shouldn’t it be over by now? On the jet, after my kidnapping, he said it would be over soon.

“There have been some new developments.”

“That doesn’t sound good.” I fork a potato.

His finger tightens on his knife to the point that his hand shakes a little. “If Angus isn’t careful, he’ll end up like his father.”

Something darker emerges in his eyes, a coldness I’ve never seen. I decide to drop the subject, sorry that I’d brought it up.

“What’s the pub like?” I change the topic. “Is there a fiddler, and are people doing the Riverdance?”

His gaze settles on me, his brows drawn as if my question confused him. A few blinks later, and his lips pinch as he fights a smile. “That’s Irish.”

“Oh.” Whoops. No biggie. My plan worked. He’s no longer gripping the knife as though he’s imagining plunging it into Angus’s chest. “Maybe someday you can take me to one.” I bite another small potato, the savory flavor dissolving on my tongue.

His brow arches. “You want to go to a Scottish pub?”

“Yeah. I could try some ale.”

“You could try ale here.”

“It’s not the same.” I taste the lamb. It melts in my mouth. Delicious. “This is my first time to Scotland, and all I know is this castle and the grounds.”

He frowns.

“What’s the village like?” I ask with excitement. “I suppose I could Google it.”

He sets down his fork and knife and stares at me in wonder. “You really want to go see it?”

I smile sheepishly. “Yeah.”

“Fuck it. We’re going to the pub.” He stands.

Wait—what? “Right now?”

“Yes. Right now. Go change into something more casual. I need to make some arrangements, and then I’ll get you.”

I sit there in shock. “But dinner…?”

“Fuck the dinner,” he says, and I can’t deny this behavior is turning me on. His gaze narrows on me, and his head tilts to the side. “Don’t do that.”

“Do what?” I ask innocently and stand.

“Look at me with those fuck-me eyes or else you’ll miss experiencing your first Scottish pub.”

I lower my gaze and take his outstretched hand as he escorts me from the table.

To the server outside the room, he says, “Change of plans. Clean up the dinner and thank Chef Henri.”

The man nods.

Lachlan walks me to the formal staircase and kisses me. “You’re making me reckless, but I’m finding it hard to deny you what you want.”

I rub my lips together to keep from smiling too widely. “Thank you.”

He grips my chin. “You can thank me later in our bed.”

He walks away, headed toward his study, but all I can think about is what he said. Our bed. Not his bed. Ours.
