Chapter 5 Harmoni #4

“Get the fuck on, Carmen! I don’t think she wants y’all to hear what I gotta say since she got y’all thinking that we done and shit,” Jakari said, pulling a hoe move. He was really trying to air out my business. I knew that fucking this nigga while I was drunk was a big ass mistake.

“We are done, Jakari, and I don’t think you want them to hear what I have to say!” I said as I walked up to him, invading his space.

“I fucked you ’cause I wanted some dick! Nothing more or less. I was just horny! And the way you spread my cheeks and ate my ass let me know you wanted it even more,” I whispered in his ear where only we could hear. I had to let his bitch ass know that he’d never get one up on me.

I looked into his face. He looked pissed and embarrassed, but I had plenty more where that came from. Instead of being nice, I was gonna start serving his ass.

“Come on!” I said as I broke our gaze and led him to my office. As much as I didn’t want to talk to him, I was going to anyway so he could leave me alone.

I motioned for him to take a seat, then I went around my desk and sat down in my chair. I was now tired of seeing this nigga’s face. We had gone from no contact at all to seeing each other two days in a row, and that was too much for me.

“You look nice. When did you have time to do that, and who are you trying to look good for?”

Carmen did my hair when I came in today, and you no longer have the right to question me. What do you want, though?”

“I don’t like how you snuck out on me after we had our moment.

I missed the fuck out of you, and I know you missed me too from the way that pussy was gripping.

I can tell you ain’t gave my shit away. You also know what all I’m dealing with, so for you to turn your back on me at a time like this is crazy,” he said, trying to guilt trip me.

“Listen! You not finna come here and act like you don’t know why we not together or why I can’t be your shoulder right now.

The situation with Keith is messed up, and I’m praying for him, but that has nothing to do with our relationship.

It’s over because of the decisions you made, not because of me.

I did my part as your woman, and you let someone come between that.

You have to live with your choices just like I have to,” I said, trying not to get upset.

I was tired of having this same damn conversation, and I vowed to let this be the last time. He would be talking to himself from now on because I was tired of reliving his mistake. I was really on some fuck him type shit.

“Look me in my eyes and tell me that we don’t have a chance of ever working shit out, and I’ll leave you alone. I need to hear it out of your mouth,” Jakari said as he stood up in front of my desk.

I walked around the desk to face him so he could hear and feel my sincerity. I needed to jump off this roller coaster that I had been on with him.

“Jakari, I will always love you, and you’ll always be the first man who ever loved me.

I have no doubt in my mind that you care for me and never intended to hurt me, but you did, and I can’t forgive you.

Please let me go, so I can find that person who is only for me and who’s not gonna bring me any pain.

It’s someone out there like that, and I know my worth, so I can’t settle for being hurt by you,” I told him while tearing up.

“Bet. Just make sure you can stand on that and live with yo’ decision,” he said in a cold tone.

Jakari rushed and threw my office door open, then stormed out of my shop like he had fire under his ass. I shook my head and went back to my booth.

“He big mad, ain’t he?” Carmen said, causing the shop to fall out laughing.

He looked like a damn fool storming out like that. I just prayed he got the picture and left me alone because I was emotionally done.

The rest of the day flew by, and before I knew it, I was at home getting ready for my date.

I decided to wear a sexy black scrunch-up dress that had sheer puffy sleeves and some silver heels that laced up the leg.

The dress had all my curves on display, and I knew Rowdy would love it.

He didn’t tell me where we were going, but he advised me to wear my little black dress, and I did just that.

Rowdy sent a car service to pick me up at eight o’clock sharp, and there was wine waiting for me in the car. I sipped the wine as I was taken to my destination. When I got out of the car, Rowdy was waiting for me outside the restaurant.

“Baby, you look beautiful!” he said and kissed my forehead before pulling me into a long hug. Although we’d only been dating for weeks, it felt like I already knew him for real. His vibe felt familiar and immediately after being in his presence, he lit up my day.

“You look so damn good yourself,” I said, drooling over this man once again.

He wore white and black plaid slacks, a Gucci polo style shirt with the same plaid material on the collar, and some black loafers. This nigga was clean as hell and smelled good too.

“You ever been here before? We’re about to go up to the hundredth floor and have dinner inside that spinning ball.” He pointed to the restaurant in the sky.

The restaurant was one of downtown’s main attractions.

Everyone wanted to go there, but getting a reservation was damn near impossible.

The fact that I canceled our date yesterday, and he was still able to pull strings for us to come today, said a lot.

He grabbed my hand and led me into the building.

Once we were on the elevator, he noticed how nervous I was to be going up so high.

He stood behind me and placed his arms around me.

I leaned my head over into his arms and felt as if I was in the safest place on earth.

The host greeted us, found our name on the reservation sheet, then led us to our table that had a perfect view of Dallas.

Being at a window table also allowed us to get views from all angles as the ball rotated, and I was really feeling the vibes.

If someone asked me what the most luxurious date I had ever been on was, it would definitely be this.

I allowed Rowdy to order for me, and he decided on lamb chops, asparagus, and redskin garlic mashed potatoes.

I’d never had lamb chops, but I was allowing him to take the lead on our first official date.

We’d had brunch dates, but it was nothing compared to this.

When the food arrived, it looked and smelled delicious.

I didn’t regret his choice at all; I ended up loving lamb chops.

We shared laughs and learned even more about each other over dinner.

I was falling so hard and so fast that I was getting scared.

I never in life had someone show so much interest in every aspect of my world.

It was a different but wonderful feeling.

I knew I deserved it, so I wanted to welcome it with open arms. I had just been scorned so badly that now I thought everyone had agendas and secrets.

Before the date was over, Rowdy had the server take pictures of us at the table and near the window with the view of the city showing.

The pictures came out so bomb that it looked like we were made specifically for each other.

Everything about our connection felt so right.

If I found out this man had hoes, I would probably beat their ass like they stole something.

Ain’t no way I was about to come up off him.

When the date was over, he got into the car with me and advised the driver to take us to part two of our date.

I was surprised because I thought we were done for the night.

Twenty minutes later, we arrived at our second destination.

We were at a winery that looked like it was closed.

Before I could tell Rowdy that we should come back another day, he dragged me inside.

The place was empty other than the owner, who stood near the door as if she was awaiting our arrival.

“Hello, Mr. Thomas and the Mrs. I closed the place down as you requested, and it is all yours. I will see that you two have a wonderful evening,” the owner said as she led us to a wonderfully set table near a wine cellar.

She gave us a list of wines and their years, then told us to choose our first rounds to taste.

When the wine came, Rowdy showed me how to properly sip and taste the wine.

This man was so full of surprises, and I was there for it.

An hour later, I had narrowed it down to my top ten favorite wines.

Rowdy told me to pick one wine that would be my favorite.

After I told him, he left and was gone for a while.

I assumed he went to pay the owner. When he came back, he had a large box in his hands.

Rowdy set the box on the table and pulled out a beautiful wooden wine display with my name carved into the side and all ten of my favorite wines in it.

He pulled the wine out that I told him was my favorite, and it had Rowdy & Harmoni, est. 2025 labeled on the bottle.

He also had one made for himself. I jumped up from my seat and ran over to hug him. He smiled so hard at my excitement.

“Who sent you?” I asked with a raised brow as I pulled out of our embrace.

“What you mean?” he replied with a look of confusion.

“You too good to be true, man. Somebody gotta be out to get me and playing a trick on me. So, who sent you?”

“Girl, hush and let me love on you. We just gon’ say God sent me. You know he don’t make no mistakes!” he said, causing us both to laugh.

We ended our night with me on cloud nine.

He rode in the car with the driver to take me home, and we hugged and kissed outside the car once we made it to my house.

Rowdy was the perfect gentleman. He was never on no funny business.

I received a hundred forehead kisses before we parted ways, then I went into the house and took a long, hot bath as I awaited my man’s call.

Once he was home and out of the shower, we fell asleep talking on the phone. It didn’t have to be said, and he didn’t even have to ask—it was now understood on both ends that this was my man.
