Chapter 11 Rowdy

As I watched Harmoni walk down the aisle, I couldn’t stop the tears from falling.

She was the most beautiful bride I had ever seen.

Cadence walked her down the aisle but was instantly sidetracked and started doing other things.

My baby had no clue what was really going on, man.

Our guests laughed at how cute he was. He was all over the place, leaving his mom to walk by herself.

When we locked eyes, it was like time stopped and nobody else was in the room other than us.

I loved this girl so damn much man, she was my heart.

My family was complete. This ceremony would just seal the deal. Trell stood beside me as my best man, and he passed me a handkerchief to wipe my face as I waited for my bride to make it to me.

We exchanged our vows, and I was still in disbelief that I was marrying the woman of my dreams. I looked past Harmoni at Dimeo, and she was crying too. My pops was even tearing up. This shit was so beautiful; I couldn’t even front. I was really doing what meant something to me.

When the pastor asked if anybody objected, I smirked because I knew nobody was crazy enough to try me today.

Just as that thought left my head, I looked up and I thought my eyes were deceiving me.

Jakari walked into my muthafuckin wedding and tried to object.

That nigga was thrown out so fast that it made my head spin.

I didn’t want to ruin this day for my woman, so I had to force myself to be still and not rush after that hoe ass nigga.

After he left, Carmen got out of the bridal line and ran off.

I knew she was probably going to ask that nigga about Drew and why he did what he did.

I wasn’t sweating it because I knew I was going to get at that nigga too. Sooner than soon.

Today wasn’t about that nigga. It was all about my wife.

Ignoring his ass, the wedding continued like nothing happened.

After the pastor finished speaking, I was finally able to kiss my bride.

Just as we sealed our union with a kiss, a gunshot rang out.

I thanked everyone for coming and told them that we would see them shortly in the reception hall.

I grabbed Trell and two of the security, then we went outside to see what was going on. As we walked down the sidewalk, Carmen was standing there with her gun pointed at Jakari as he lay on the ground in a puddle of his own blood. I rushed and got the gun out of her hand, then I passed it to Trell.

“Carmen, go back in there and act like this shit never happened! Hurry up!” I said as I grabbed her shoulders. She nodded and ran off.

I gave the security a look to let them know what time it was.

We were already prepared for something like this to happen.

I thought the nigga had more sense than to show up there, but he was slower than he looked.

Security handled him while Trell and I ran back inside.

I went to the reception area and waited for Moni and her girls to come out.

I didn’t want anything to ruin her big day, so I had to keep a cool head.

I acted as if nothing at all had happened. Cause in my mind, it didn’t.

While we had our first dance, I assured her that everything was alright, and that Jakari wouldn’t be coming back to bother her.

She laid her head on my chest, and I could feel the weight that was just lifted from her.

I didn’t have to explain anything, she just already understood.

We continued to dance as she melted in my arms.

We mingled with our friends and family until it was time for someone to catch the bouquet.

I tapped Trell, letting him know that it was time to get into position.

Moni walked to the middle of the floor and smiled in our direction.

Trell moved to where he could have a good view of the action.

Moni counted down from three, and everyone moved out the way, allowing Ciara to catch the bouquet.

She jumped up and down in a circle when she caught it.

Her ass didn’t even know that her wish was coming true sooner than she thought.

. Once she turned around, she saw that Trell was on one knee right in front of her.

“Ciara, you complete me. You make a nigga think about shit that I never would have if it wasn’t for you.

You made me a father, and you stay on my ass for me to want better.

I live for you and my kids. This road with you has not been easy, but it’s damn sure worth it, and I want to do it for the rest of my life if you will let me.

Ci, will you marry me?” Trell asked as he extended the ring.

“You think I ain’t?” Ciara responded, causing the whole room to laugh.

Trell placed the ring on her finger, and they shared a long, passionate kiss.

I cheered my boy on as I watched him slowly transition into a man.

These were the things I prayed about. My pops congratulated Trell and me again.

He told us how proud we made him. I asked him to make sure the girls got home safely with my son, and to watch them closely.

Trell and I left to tend to some business.

We arrived at my abandoned trap spot where we had previously held Taylor.

When we got there, Jakari was on the verge of death.

He had a wound that went through his back, and the bullet had traveled to his chest. After seeing him in that state, I paid the security and told them to leave and never to speak of this.

I looked at Jakari and shook my head at what he had gotten himself into. His breathing was shallow, and I could tell this was it for him. I pulled a chair in front of him and now we sat face to face.

“You had plenty of chances to leave my wife alone, and you chose to ignore my warnings. After you killed my shop manager, I had every intention of killing you, but I thought about JJ. I already killed his momma and his auntie. I didn’t want him to lose his pops too.

JJ is a cool ass lil’ dude. Instead of you focusing on being a father, you couldn’t stop trying to get at my woman.

I’ll tell your son you love him,” I said.

I took the engraved pocketknife my pops had bought me for my weeding out of my pocket.

In one swift motion I slid it across his neck and watched as the life left his body.

Trell made that phone call while I went and waited in the car for him to come out.

Everyone who threatened my relationship was now with their maker.

I wouldn’t have to look over my shoulder and wonder what was coming our way next.

I had officially put all that shit to rest. I went home to my wife that night and packed our bags for the honeymoon.

The next morning, I woke up and had my driver take me to the bank.

I withdrew five hundred thousand and had my banker type a note stating that the money was strictly for Jakari Jones Jr, in the absence of his mother and father.

I took the money to Diamond’s mom’s house, left it on her doorstep, knocked, and then walked away.

As I sat in the car, I watched Diamond’s mom open the door and get the bag.

She clutched her chest and cried at the sight.

As long as I did my part, all I could do was hope that she did right by JJ with his money.

An hour later, we had dropped Cadence off to my pops, and we were going through customs at the airport and headed to the Virgin Islands for our honeymoon. I promised her a do over, and I was about to go all out this time. As we waited to be scanned in, I kissed my wife’s lips.

“You might end up pregnant after this trip,” I joked.

“Jokes on you, Hubby. I already am!” She smiled as she handed me a First Response test showing that she was indeed pregnant again.

I grabbed her face and kissed her lips. She didn’t even know how happy she had made me.

I was going to spend the rest of my life making her and my kids happy.

A year ago, I would have never imagined my life being this way.

Everything I had to go through to get here, was all worth it in the end.

My only regrets were the things that happened to Moni, she didn’t deserve none of that shit.

Finding out she was pregnant was the highlight of my day.

I planned to knock my wife up every single year.

I also vowed to protect her with my life.

One thing I didn’t do was play about those that I loved.
