Chapter 4

FOUR

HEAT

“Hello.”

The sound of her sweet voice has my cock twitching, even with it being through the phone. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a woman’s voice like hers.

I don’t know what the hell it is about her, but I haven’t been able to get her out of my head since turning around on 460 when I saw the car she’d been driving and her standing outside of it.

It’d been fucking cute the way she kicked the flat on her car.

Then she’d gone and refused to give me her cell so I could put my number in and text myself. Didn’t matter, I was able to get her number anyway.

“You gonna bring your car in to the garage or what?” I ask, trying to keep my cock in check. I couldn’t even fuck one of the horas last night cause all I could see was McKenna’s beautiful eyes.

I knew the moment I saw her she was gonna be trouble, and I wasn’t wrong.

“Um, who is this?” she asks, and the way she does makes me wonder if I just woke her up.

“Trouble, you just waking up?”

“Heat?” she whispers.

Damn, her calling my name goes straight to my dick.

“Yeah, Trouble, now when are you bringing your car into the garage. My guys have a full schedule around here.” It was the truth. Kings Garage was always swamped with work. We weren’t the only garage in Windsor, but we were known for doing damn good work and not gouging customers.

“Um.”

The way McKenna says that one little word has the grin that was tugging at my lips turning into a full one. “You gonna bring your car in so we can change the tire?”

“Ugh, if you’r busy, I can wait until tomorrow. Or go to another garage.”

“Babe, I said my guys have a full schedule. I’m here now. I can do it.” I wasn’t one to offer my time, and I don’t know what the fuck I’m thinking offering it now. My guys could easily slot her in and get it done in no time, but I was planning on doing it myself.

“It can wait,” she says softly.

“Can’t be ridin’ around on a spare.”

“I’m not planning on going anywhere. I’ll just make an appointment and get it taken care of when the garage has time.”

“I’m here now,” I tell her, annoyance creeping in in a way that I like, which I don’t get. “Get your car here.”

“I don’t have to take orders from you.”

There’s that fire in her that I saw yesterday on the side of the road.

“Woman,” I growl, clenching the phone in my hand tighter. “Got shit to do today. Ain’t got a lot of time. Get your damn car here so we can change the spare out and be done with this shit. You don’t, I come have your car towed in.”

I should have just done that in the first place. It would have saved me the headache of dealing with this bullshit.

“Fine,” McKenna snaps and disconnects the call.

Pulling the phone from my ear, I sigh, frustration filling me. Not in the way it typically does. In this situation, I want nothing more than to take McKenna over my knee and watch as her ass turns a bright red from my hand.

My cock jerks at the thought, reminding me yet again of the woman that I seem to have a hard-on for.

“How long is this going to take?” McKenna demands, definitely looking like she just crawled out of bed.

The sight of her shorts that hardly cover her ass and a tank top that barely comes to her naval does nothing to help tame the hard-on I’ve got for her. To make matters worse, there’s no missing she’s not wearing a bra.

“Won’t take long,” I tell her while maneuvering the jack underneath the front to get the tire up enough to take it off.

I hadn’t lied to her about my guys being busy.

They were, and there wasn’t a bay open to bring the car into.

I wanted this done ASAP so I can get on with what else I need to do today.

Like following after the lead we have on Kinley. We knew what Pyro’s mother had in the journals his dad gave us. We also knew what we’d been hearing around town, the brothel, and bar.

I try to ignore McKenna’s presence while taking care of the tire, but with her as close as she is, there’s no ignoring her.

“So, what do you do?” I find myself asking between taking each lug nut off.

“I’m a stripper,” she answers, not having a care in the world that she’d just said it. Like she was proud of it.

There’s nothing wrong with being a stripper. I’ve enjoyed watching more than one show where girls dance on the pole. Hell, I’ve seen some phenomenal dances. It takes guts for some women to get on stage and strip down to nothing.

“Which club do you dance for?”

“Leon’s Essence.”

I heard of the club. I also knew who Leon was.

What I don’t get is what one of his girls would be doing all the way out here.

Leon Risberg wasn’t a man you screwed with.

He was the son of Hel, and no one messed with him or they’d find themselves up shit’s creek.

No one messed with Hel’s son because she was as protective as any mother.

They also didn’t mess with Leon, knowing if you were on his bad side, he’d rain hell on you himself.

“If you work there, what are you doing so far away? Taking a vacation?”

“Something like that,” she mumbles.

The way she says it, I’m betting there’s more to the story. Mostly she’s not going to share.

“Right.” I get the tire off and stand with it in my hands. “Stay out here. I’ll be back in a few.”

I don’t need her coming into the shop and getting in the way. With the way she’s dressed, there’s no telling what will happen. My guys don’t need the distraction.

From where I’m working, getting the old tire off the rim, I can see her standing there looking lost. Watching her, there’s no missing that she’s upset about something.

Whether it’s the fact I made her bring her ass up here after waking her up or something else entirely.

Didn’t matter, the look was there on her face.

I didn’t like it.

Which is a new feeling for me.

I don’t worry about those who are not family or club. This woman is definitely not either and won’t be.

Turning away from McKenna’s direction, I get the new tire blown on the rim and finish up. It’s time to get this woman out of here and away from me. I’ve more important shit to be doing anyhow.

“Nothing,” Brimstone snarls and slams his fist on the side of the door frame.

To say my brother was pissed would be an understatement. He’s livid and has every right to be.

“We’re not going to find them,” Trigger growls through gritted teeth.

“Oh, we’ll find them,” I state firmly. I wasn’t giving up until we had Kinley back where she belongs. “When we do, we’ll show them just what happens when you fuck with the Kings.”

I’m tired of the bullshit games. This bastard is going to get what’s coming his way.

“Damn right, we are.” Brimstone sneers, fury radiating off him. “She better be breathing and not one of them when we find her.”

“You read the journals, just like I did,” I tell him. “You know they haven’t turned her. She’s been nothing more than a feeding source for them.”

I didn’t have to say the rest of it out loud.

It fucks with my head that I had to read it as it were.

Pyro’s bitch of a mother wrote everything down.

I mean everything in great detail. Including watching what those fuckers did in front of her to my sister’s best friend.

The fuck of it is, the woman had even cast a spell on Kinley to make her beg for them to keep going.

“We’ll keep looking and find her,” Fire growls as he pulls out his ringing phone and answers. “You okay?”

The way Fire’s voice softens tells who he’s on the phone with.

It’s sickening to think about how my little sister can do that to the man.

But I know my brother, and the fact that he loves my sister.

He’d do anything for her. Hell, when I first found out about them, Fire took twenty-two lashes to his back for being with her without coming to me first. It’s something you don’t do without showing disrespect to not just me, but the club as well.

Still, he took the lashes I’d given him without complaint, claiming my sister as his.

I make my way back to my bike with the others as Fire follows, ignoring the call because I don’t need to listen to what the two of them are talking about. As long as she’s safe at the clubhouse, where I know for a fact we left her ass, then there’s nothing to worry about.

“We’ll head over there and take a look.” Fire grunts and tells my sister he loves her and all that lovey-dovey shit they do.

I swear with him, Inferno, and now Pyro having women things have changed. I can’t say it’s not for the better, but damn if I hate change. I’m not one for shit changing on me and never have been. I don’t like surprises. I didn’t need that in my life.

“Where do we have to head?” I ask, glancing in my brother’s direction.

“Evelin said McKenna called her about some strange noises at the house. Like whimpering cries or some shit like that. She went looking for it but couldn’t find anything,” Fire says, shoving his phone back in his pocket.

Fuck.

Now I was gonna have to see McKenna for a second time today. I was trying not to have to do that. It’s bad enough my dick twitches at the mention of her. Then there’s the fact I want to see her again in those damn short ass shorts.

What I wouldn’t give to bend her over the hood of her car and take her from behind.

I shake my head to erase that thought ‘cause it wasn’t gonna happen. Never was I going to be getting her into my bed. I’m good with the horas at the clubhouse or going to the bar and finding someone else. I have my share pick of any woman I want.

So, what the hell does it matter about this one? Better yet, why the hell do I even care?
