Epilogue
MCKENNA
Two Months Later . . .
The day has been great. I don’t think it could get any better than it already is, but I have a feeling my man is about to make that happen.
Today has been about celebrating the birth of Evelin and Fire’s twin boys. It was a month ago that they were born. Two healthy little boys that they named, River and Rain.
I questioned Evelin about her choice of names for them, only for her to tell me she picked them out of delirium and wasn’t changing them.
Said they were named the opposite of their father’s ability to draw flames in the palm of his hand.
I personally thought they were awesome. Hippie-ish but totally rocked.
Evelin and Fire loved their boys. We all had given them a month away from most everyone so they could get used to having the little boys to take care of.
This didn’t mean Heat and I didn’t spend time with them. We did, nearly every day. There were a few we didn’t go to their house, only because we were wrapped up in each other’s arms and didn’t leave his room.
So, today was about them, but it was also a special day for me too.
It was my birthday. Though no one here knew it except for Heat.
I told him I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it.
To me, it’s mostly been just another day.
This didn’t mean he didn’t make it great for me.
He absolutely did. In a lot of ways that had me crying out for more.
“Guess what, Mick?” Leon asks, announcing his presence as he plops down on the table next to me. “Deal’s done, I’m opening a new club over in Smithfield. Gonna call it King’s Essence.”
I groan at the name of the club. “What is with you and the word essence?”
“It catches attention.” He chuckles. “Your man’s club is going into business with me on it. Heat already okay it that you run the joint for me.”
“Is that so?” I demand, cocking a brow.
“Yep, no more stripping for you. Not when you’re marrying the President of a motorcycle club.” Leon grins. “Thank the Gods for small miracles. I no longer have to see you naked.”
“Kiss my ass,” I grumble and hop up, ready to face off with my man. I want to know why I hadn’t heard about this from him. I find him standing with Brimstone, Trigger, and Inferno, laughing.
Heat’s eyes lock with mine as I approach. He takes in my expression and sobers quickly. “What’s wrong, baby?”
“What’s wrong?” I snap, hands going to my hips as I stop in front of him. “I don’t know. You want to tell me? King’s Essence?”
“Leon tell you?” Heat asks.
“Gee, you think?” I knew he didn’t miss Leon talking to me.
“Lose the attitude, Trouble.”
“Nope. No way, I’m not losing the attitude. Not when I have to hear it from Leon that it’s a done deal and that I’ll be the one running the place. Let alone him telling me that I didn’t need to strip anymore since I was marrying you. Which, by the way, is a lie because I know—”
“A lie?” Heat interrupts me as he grabs my wrist and tugs me the short distance to him. Hee pulls me flush against him and asks, “How is it a lie that you’re marrying me?”
“Well, you haven’t asked me,” I point out, rolling my eyes.
“McKenna, you are marrying me. Told you, I ain’t letting you go. I meant just that.”
“That’s not a given that I’m marrying you, Rankin.” Yep, I used his name right there in front of his brothers.
Heat’s eyes flash with hunger. “You’re marrying me, McKenna.
There’s no question about it. I want you as my wife.
I want you at my side. In my bed. Everywhere I am, that’s where I want you.
So, yeah, it’s a fuckin’ given, baby,” he says and crashes his lips down on mine, tongue diving in to plunder my mouth. Within seconds, I’m putty in his hands.
By the time he lifts his head, I’ve forgotten what I was mad about. That’s something his kisses do to me. It’s amazing and annoying all in one.
“You gonna marry me?” Heat asks, his lips brushing along mine with each word.
“Yes,” I breathe.
“Love you, Trouble.”
“Love you too, Rankin.”
This man is everything to me. He is everything I’ve ever wanted. All I ever needed, and I get to spend forever with him.
