3. Incubus #2
I lean down and pick her up so our eyes are level with each other.
“Bella, we do not make fun of others, remember? You ask each of my brothers, your uncles, what they want you to call them and that’s what you will use. Now, are you hungry because your aunt Sparkle cooked all of your favorites.”
My little girl squirms her way down to run to Sparkle, grabbing her hands, jumping up and down in front of her.
“Zia Sparkle, did you make the little hot dogs in bread with the crunchy veggies and dip? Oh, and the mozzarella sticks with ranch dressing?”
I’m smiling wide as Sparkle lifts my daughter up, peppering kisses on her beautiful face.
My daughter giggles, returning the favor back at Sparkle.
When our club manager’s eyes meet mine, I’m shocked at the tears in them, along with support flowing from them.
Well, damn, that was a pleasant surprise.
Everyone leaves to go to the clubhouse and we all follow.
Once there, I watch them walk toward the kitchen and dining room, with a few brothers following behind making all kinds of weird faces that keep Isabella giggling.
I feel his presence, so I turn to see Cobalt grinning my way, so I wait for it.
As usual with this brother, I don’t have to wait too long.
“Damn, brother, never in all the time I’ve known you have I seen such a relaxed and natural smile on that mug of yours.
Even when you and Stella were together, there was always an underlying pressure or something that kept ya on edge.
That little girl is definitely a miracle worker.
We gotta keep her around because that will keep you in a good mood. ”
He starts to chuckle and it flows to the other brothers who have stayed close.
I grin because what else can I do? Sometimes I can’t believe the path my life has gone down.
I mean, first, shit, I hate to even think of my childhood in that maniac’s house, who then took the decision away from me, forcing me into medical school by threatening my siblings.
When I dropped out and joined the service my father disowned me, which was no sweat off my balls.
I hated the old man, I still do. When I met Cobalt, and after we got out of all the shit the military required of us, soldiers willing to give our lives for the freedom of others to be put through and all of our suffering, I was pissed off and lost. So, when Cobalt asked me to come back home with him, since his father was the president at the time of the Indiana chapter of the Kings of Anarchy motorcycle club.
It seemed like a good place to land. Flames, the enforcer at the time, was getting too old to perform his duties and, let’s face it, blood has never bothered me and I know how to make shit hurt.
So, it seemed like the next best step. When I first met Stella, and then she continued to pop in and out of my life, things started getting complicated because for once in my life I wanted it all, for Christ’s sake.
Fuck it, I deserved it. When Isabella arrived, that made my dark heart start up again.
It is an oxymoron for someone who kills for a living to be a dreamer in our black world.
When Gino started inquiring, then pressuring me, in what it would take to make me leave the Kings of Anarchy and join him and the fuckin’ Mob, I saw the writing on the wall.
I got in touch with Stella and demanded she have our little Bella live with her family because that way at least one of them would be protected.
I knew Stella would refuse to step down or back off.
Little did I know how right my thinking was.
So, yeah, now Bella is safe but Stella’s life is in immediate danger, and I have no clue on how to fix this shit.
I’ve reached out to anyone and everyone I know who has shit on the Mob but haven’t gotten many replies.
These dumbass bastards should realize I’m the monster they need to be scared to fuckin’ death of, not some fat-ass Italians.
I’m so deep in thought when a hand lands on my upper arm, without thinking I turn while swinging.
A huge hand grabs my fist right before I break my prez’s jaw.
Holy shit, how did I not know it was him since we are so in tune with each other most of the time?
For fuck’s sake, there are times we don’t even have to speak or exchange words, we just know what the other wants.
Looking up and up, I see Mammoth frowning at me, my hand crunched in his, though he isn’t squeezing it, just holding it tightly.
The others around are shocked and when my eyes meet Cobalt’s blue ones, all I see is concern.
“Where the fuck were ya, brother? Thanks for not knocking me out, Incubus, didn’t feel like getting my jaw wired.
So, brother, what’s the plan? Your little girl is here, so we need to figure out how to get your ol’ lady back without any more damage being done to her.
I’ve put out a call for help from all of our chapters, just waitin’ to see who is gonna step up.
Oh shit, forgot to tell ya, Big Daddy told me we have his permission to do whatever is necessary to get Stella back and make them jagoffs, his words, pay.
He’s also suspended all jobs with the Mob until she’s returned. That’s at least something.”
Looking at my brothers, we are all in shock from Big Daddy’s support.
I mean, our chapters work with the Mob ’cause the money is phenomenal.
I start to get that feeling deep within my soul.
The one that craves mayhem and blood. These fuckin’ mob assholes want a fight, well, they’re gonna get one that their families will never forget.
Anyone who’s put their filthy hands on my Stella is going to ground.
Now it’s time to get our shit together and figure out what our next move is.
And to make sure this little angel next to me is protected against all of this chaos that is my life.
