CHAPTER ELEVEN
– KAREV –
The grin on my face is fueled by the supremacy running through my veins. There’s power humming under my skin, and it feels as if I’m supercharged. A result of completing the bond between me and my eternal mate.
Lea is still sleeping on the bed. My room is completely covered in coal soot.
After the shower we took together, I pulled some fresh sheets from the closet to make the bed.
Lea looked tired and I wanted her to rest. She crawled under the covers and fell asleep in two heartbeats.
I grabbed my tablet and did some research in an online library digitalized book on Roman history.
My mind is still spinning a hundred miles an hour.
The first time I claimed my mate and felt the barbs shoot from my cock to stay rooted inside her was fucking intense.
Then, taking her again was more fuel on the fire we both sparked and hotwired into supernova.
The first and only pussy I’ve felt wrapped around my cock, and the only one for the rest of eternity.
I glance at my sleeping mate once more before silently stepping out of the room. The wooden door is still wet from the water Sevrin circled the room with to contain the fire Lea and I created during our fuckfest.
“The smile on your face might help making the cringy shit I had to do somewhat worth it,” Sevrin grumbles as I step into church.
A bark of laughter rips from me. “Appreciate it, brother. Though, in the moment I couldn’t care less if the whole clubhouse burned to a crisp.”
Sevrin snorts. “Everyone is highly aware, VP.”
I take a seat at the table and ask, “Any news about the situation her father is in?”
“Nope. We’ve asked around, no one knows shit about a hellhound causing trouble for Calvania. Which means the man has kept it under wraps.”
Nodding at Prez’s words, I add, “Makes sense. Like Lea mentioned, if Drexel almost ripped his head off a few months ago? Then he’d lose face and a whole load of other supernaturals would step up to try and take his place.”
Sevrin bobs his head. “Especially if he needed so damn long to heal.”
“And why he’s looking for an alpha hellhound. Which also makes me wonder why Drexel hasn’t gone after the fucker while he was in a vulnerable position, or why he didn’t finish the job,” I mutter.
“Do you think Alora kept it to herself that Drexel is indeed her fated mate when she rejected him?” Sevrin asks.
I take a few heartbeats to think. “It sure as fuck gives some sense to him not finishing the job to rip her father’s head off.
He would still need her or the torment to claim her wouldn’t stop.
Also, if she rejected him? It would explain her rage and obsession for me since she would need a hellhound to somewhat fill the void of the gaping hole she created by rejecting a mate. ”
Sevrin raises one of his eyebrows. “Wait. So, you’re saying in theory Drexel could take one of Alora’s sisters to fuck and force a bond in some way?”
I shrug. “I did some research and one of the myths and legends books concerning Roman mythology mentioned fated mates. The bond is strong through family bloodlines. Like yours was linked to your mate and passed down through siblings when yours were killed, and hers as well, so the bond was passed down until you two completed it. I now realize Alora and Drexel being attracted to one another could be due to the fact that Lea and I are fated mates.”
“So, Drexel probably smelled enticing for Alora or something? Then she figures out he’s not good enough, so she dumps him. That makes more sense. Being pissed he’s not the one for her, but getting a taste of a fated mate possibility,” Sevrin muses.
Bobbing my head, I remember what Lea mentioned about her sister. “Alora is fueled by anger. Even if Lea keeps to herself, they are going to eventually miss her, and to prevent...”
Sevrin cuts me off by saying, “We need to invite Calvania to come here and discuss this shit.”
“I don’t know if the fucker even leaves his damn house,” I state when there’s a knock on the door.
Sevrin rumbles, “Enter.”
The scent of lemon cookies enters my nose and I expect Lea to step inside, but instead it’s Triton carrying a bag with Zara’s bakery name on it.
Triton walks to me and passes me the bag. “I brought you some cookies for your old lady. Make sure she knows I’m sorry for fucking up about the bathroom thing, okay?”
I want to lash out again at the reminder, but the fucker went to the trouble of getting up early and picking up stuff for me to give my old lady in an apology. Besides, he also dropped the spell completely when prez ordered him.
Holding up the bag I grunt, “Apology accepted.”
Triton shrugs. “I was in the neighborhood.”
I narrow my eyes, regretting giving in so damn easy if it wasn’t his intention to get something for Lea.
He drags a chair away from the table and sits his asshole-ass down. “I had a premonition, a dream I woke up from and couldn’t sleep. So, I went to see Zara because she’s always up early, and I might have put a spell on her.”
“Say what now?” Sevrin whispers and jumps up to close the door. “Don’t let Levan hear you, asshole. What kind of premonition was it? Is she gonna kill the fucker and use his meat in a batch of quiches or something?”
“I don’t know.” Triton rubs his temples. “I’ve been trying like hell to remember what, but there are only fragments of images and nothing makes sense. All I’m sure of is the fact it’s something involving Zara and Levan. I’ve already zapped the fucker with some magic without telling him.”
Shaking my head, I warn the warlock about the obvious, “The whole meaning of getting a glimpse of what’s to come is to try and change it from happening.
Putting a protection spell on both of them if they have relationship issues is a whole different thing.
Magic and personal gain is some twisted shit and will have consequences. ”
“Consequences my ass,” Triton snaps. “I didn’t use my magic to do some matchmaking shit. Danger for those two is coming, I just don’t know what exactly, but I do know it’s gonna rip those two to shreds.”
“Like literally? Losing their heads to shreds? Or emotional ripped to shreds?” Sevrin wonders.
Triton jumps up and starts to pace. “I don’t know.
Which is why I’ve been up all night and couldn’t do a protection spell for either one.
I’m not even sure if they needed protection at all, but why would I get a mental warning concerning those two?
They’re not fated mates or Levan would have said something.
Again, I don’t fucking know. I had to guess and wing it. ”
“Wing it,” I echo. “Always nice when a warlock says he’s going to wing it.”
Loud screeching draws all our attention. It’s coming from the parking lot and I damn well recognize the annoying sound.
“Alora, Lea’s angry sister,” I snap.
“Sounds like she’s more than pissed,” Triton grunts.
“Let me guess...Alora is the most furious of the three sisters with the unrelenting rage. We all know your mate is the jealous one. Fucking hell, go get her before they rip one another’s heads off,” Sevrin grumbles.
I step into the main room of the clubhouse and check the monitor, showing the camera angle of the parking lot. A black limousine comes to a stop behind Alora who is surrounded by a dark cloud of smoke, still fucking screeching her lungs out.
Movement from the hallway draws my attention and I’m barely able to catch my woman around the waist. “Wait a fucking second. You’re not going out there by yourself.”
“She’s calling me out, Karev. She knows I’m here,” Lea snarls with a puff of smoke following her words.
I wrap my hand around her throat and give a tiny squeeze to draw her attention.
“Sweetheart? You’re starting to breathe fire.
I can’t let you go out there and kill your sister, even if she needs to shut the hell up.
We’re going out there together, along with some of my brothers, and we’re going to have a normal conversation. ”
Throwing a glance over my shoulder at the screen to check, I tell her, “Look. Your father chased her ass down.”
Her eyes narrow at the screen. “He followed her, but only after she left to chase me down.”
“Doesn’t matter anymore. Your place is here with me,” I simply state.
Her eyes collide with mine and she instantly softens in my arms.
The look she gives me radiates joy, and so does her voice. “Yes.”
“Shall we let them know?” I don’t wait for her reply but simply link my fingers with hers and walk to the door.
Levan, Triton, and Sevrin fall in step behind me as we step out of the clubhouse to face her father, and her annoying sister.
