Chapter 21 #2
The room goes very still. Axel’s head tilts and Torch goes completely motionless beside me.
“Then when he was doubled over… she broke his nose,” the kid finishes quietly.
Something shifts in my chest. Not relief or pride.
She had to fight.
I told her she was safe, and she was anything but.She had to fight men over twice her size… Because I wasn’t here.
Angel’s voice cuts through the silence again. “And then?”
“She ran… they chased after her… Razor was screaming that if he found her he'd sell her off to his friends.”
Trigger shifts again and its the wrong fucking move.
Axel steps forward, but I get to him first. He will have to do until I get my hands on Razor. I grab him by the back of his head and slam his face into the table where Angel is sitting.
Cypher lifts his laptop just in time.
I hold him there.
“You put your hands on someone who didn’t want you to.” I growl.
Trigger’s jaw tightens, but he doesn’t try to get out of my grip. “She was up for grabs, Razor said we could have some fun with her.”
Angel doesn’t look at him, he is looking at his lap when he says, “And you think touching a woman without consent is fun?”
Trigger doesn’t answer.
Angel’s voice goes quiet. “Where is Razor?”
Trigger still doesn’t answer, I pull him back slightly and slam him back into the table. Torch is now standing behind me, standing guard over the others.
Angel finally leans back, bringing his eyes up. “Four is right, fuck Bex is right. I have been blind.”
He pulls a knife up from his lap, twisting it in front of Trigger’s face. The blade catching the light.
“Well, I can’t change the past,” Angel says, “But I can cut out the rot.”
He moves fast, driving the knife into Trigger's hand on the table. Trigger screams and bucks under my hold, but I just push his face harder into the table.
“Torch.” Angle commands.
Torch steps forward.
“Take them.” Angel commands.
The brothers freeze and one of them is stupid enough to ask, “Where?”
Torch smiles, he’s just fucking with them now.
“The shed.” he says with a wink.
Torch gestures once and prospects move as he comes to take Trigger from me. Angel only pulls the knife out after Torch yanks on him a few times and Trigger's screams are choked.
We watch them go. No one speaks until the door closes behind them. Angel turns his attention back to the table with the club girls. Both of them look terrified.
“Come here,” he says.
They stand on shaky legs and make their way over to Angel’s table.
“Did you see anyone with Razor today?”
They don’t answer, Tatum looks at the floor and Ivy is playing with her hands looking at Tatum.
“If you know something and don’t tell me this isn't going to end well for you.” Angel adds.
For a minute I don’t think they are going to talk, but then… “K..Kori saw him. She went to his room.” Ivy answers.
Angel’s eyes narrow slightly.
“Why?”
Tatum elbows Ivy and she goes quiet again. Axel swears quietly and Angel goes very still.
“What was she doing there?” He asks, giving them another chance.
My stomach tightens.
“Where is she?” he continues.
No one answers.
Cypher clears his throat, saying, “I can find her.”
Angel nods once. “Do it. And check all the club girls' call and message logs.”
Cypher is already moving before the sentence finishes, his brain working faster than anyone else in the room.
“She left twenty minutes ago,” he says almost immediately. “She still has her phone on, we can track it.”
That isn't a coincidence.
“That’s not all,” he adds quietly.
Angel looks at him, asking, “What?”
“Looks like Tatum got a text a few minutes before Kori and Razor left the compound.”
I realize I am grinding my teeth, so I unclench my jaw and take a deep breath.
“Who texted her.” Angel grinds out.
Cypher’s fingers move again, then he stops and looks up at… Axel. Saying, “Marisol”
Angel exhales slowly. “Fuck.”
Axel is beside Cypher in a flash, “That can’t be right, Marisol wouldn’t…”
“The timing lines up, Marisol sent a message to Tatum just after we left Four’s, and less than ten minutes later Kori and, I am assuming, Razor left the compound.”
Axel swears and starts to pace, then he stops beside Tatum, “What the fuck did she text you?”
Tattum is shaking, she doesn’t look up but she does answer, “I… I am sorry. I didn’t know that Kori would go to Razor, I just shared the message.”
“What did her message say?” Axel roars.
Tattum is crying, “She... she just wanted to let me know that shit was going to go down. That I might want to leave… Sh…she teaches my kid and knows I am one wrong move from losing him to the system… sh… she just wanted to warn me in case I wanted to get out of here before everything went down.”
Fuck.
Axel looks conflicted, strain is written all over his face. He steps back from Tattum and starts to pace again.
Angel’s voice drops. “Take the girls back to the bunk room, they don’t leave or talk to anyone until we find out what the fuck has been going on.”
One of the brothers ushers the girls out of the room.
I feel like I can’t breathe.
Angel looks at me, then Axel, Ledger and then the door.
“He ran because he knew we were coming for him.”
Silence settles across the clubhouse like a storm front rolling in. Razor isn’t inside the club anymore. He isn’t contained and he is done pretending. He’s loose and he knows we’re coming for him. Which means…
He might already be looking for her.
“He’s not going to go into hiding,” I say quietly.
Angel looks at me, “No.”
“He’s hunting.” I say on a hard breath.
No one argues, because we all know I’m right.
Angel starts giving orders to track Kori, let Four know he needs to question Marisol, with the priority to find Bex and Mara.
I don’t wait, I am out the doors and moving for my bike.
I need to find her before he does.
