Chapter Nineteen
Push
Anchor was leaning against the bar with a coffee mug in his hand even though the sun had already dipped low enough outside that coffee probably wasn’t the right life choice anymore.
Pearl slid right into his side the second we came in, like she had some internal GPS locked onto her biker at all times.
Piney wandered in behind us still eating popcorn.
I didn’t know where the hell he kept getting it from.
I shut the clubhouse door behind us and glanced at Anchor. “We found out Erin worked on the island.”
That got everybody’s attention.
Anchor straightened slowly. “What?”
McKayla stepped farther into the room, her eyes sharp and focused again in a way they hadn’t been at the motel. “A girl working in the ghost town recognized me and thought I was Erin. Said Erin worked there for about a week.”
“Ron hired her,” Piney added around a mouthful of popcorn.
Anchor’s expression darkened thoughtfully. “Shit.”
Shay blinked. “So Erin was actually on the island.”
“Looks that way,” McKayla said quietly.
I watched the shift happen in her again. Hope mixed with fear. Before today, Erin had just been a missing person connected loosely to Skull Island. Now there was proof she’d been there. Proof meant answers existed somewhere.
Anchor set his mug down on the bar and grabbed the walkie clipped to his cut. “Cross.”
Static crackled for a second before Cross answered. “Go ahead.”
“You still over at the haunted house?”
“Yeah. Just had some jackass puke in the cemetery room. It’s been real magical over here.”
Pearl snorted.
Anchor ignored her. “Get Ron and bring him to the clubhouse.”
There was a pause.
Then Cross answered, “Ron took off like twenty minutes ago. Said he had paperwork shit to do at home.”
Anchor rubbed a hand over his jaw. “Anything wrong over there?”
“Nope,” Cross answered immediately. “Everything’s smooth tonight.”
Anchor looked toward me and McKayla before keying the radio again. “All right. We’ll talk to him tomorrow.”
“Copy that.” The radio clicked off.
McKayla leaned against the back of the couch and crossed her arms. “So tomorrow we talk to Ron.”
Anchor nodded once. “Tomorrow we talk to Ron.”
Pearl bumped her shoulder lightly against Anchor’s. “See? This is what happens when you let us out of the clubhouse.” She grinned. “We find information.”
Anchor scoffed loudly. “That was a fucking fluke, baby.”
Pearl gasped dramatically. “Excuse you. That was investigative brilliance.”
“You accidentally stumbled into a girl who knew Erin.”
“Investigative brilliance,” Pearl repeated firmly.
McKayla pointed at Pearl. “I’m with her.”
“Of course you are,” Anchor muttered.
Pearl beamed smugly. “The women are carrying this investigation.”
Piney shoved more popcorn into his mouth. “To be fair, we mostly just stand around looking mean.”
“Some of you don’t even do that well,” Pearl shot back.
Piney looked offended. “I look terrifying.”
“You look like a biker who would emotionally support someone through a panic attack.” The room burst into laughter.
Piney clutched his chest. “That was hurtful.”
“You literally brought Shay hot chocolate during a thunderstorm because she said lightning made her anxious,” Prime called from the hallway.
Piney pointed at him. “That was private information.”
McKayla laughed beside me, and I found myself watching her instead of the conversation.
The past few weeks had been chaos. Bodies. Blood. Threats. But somehow this woman still laughed.
I slid an arm around her waist and tugged her back against my chest. She tilted her head up toward me automatically.
Mine.
That thought came way too damn easy.
I brushed her hair back from her face and kissed her before I could overthink it.
Piney groaned loudly. “Well there goes my shot with the PI.”
The entire room erupted.
“Oh my God,” Pearl laughed.
Prime looked disgusted. “You never had a shot.”
Piney pointed at himself. “Women love mystery.”
“You eat concession stand nachos six nights a week,” Wannabe called from over by the bar. “There’s no mystery.”
McKayla laughed against my mouth, and I kissed her again just because I could.
Piney kept going. “I could’ve treated her right.”
“You absolutely could not have,” I said.
“Oh yeah?” McKayla grinned up at me.
I brushed my thumb along her jaw slowly. “Yeah, baby.” I kissed her once more. “I knew I wanted you the second I tossed you over my shoulder and hauled you off the island.”
Her eyes narrowed instantly. “The only thing I knew then,” she informed me loudly, “was that I wanted to kick you right in the dick.”
Anchor barked out a laugh.
Pearl almost folded in half laughing.
I grinned and scooped McKayla straight up into my arms.
She squealed immediately. “Push!”
I headed for the hallway.
“Put me down!”
“Nope.”
“I’m serious!” She scolded.
“That’s nice.”
Pearl called after us, “I thought we were having drinks!”
I glanced back once. “Raincheck.”
“She could have been mine!” Piney yelled.
McKayla buried her face against my shoulder, laughing while I carried her down the hallway toward my room.
“You people are ridiculous,” she muttered.
“You like us.”
“I tolerate some of you.”
I kicked my bedroom door shut behind us and immediately tossed her onto the bed. She bounced once against the mattress with another startled laugh. I locked the door and took in her sprawled across my bed with flushed cheeks, messy dark hair, and eyes locked on mine.
Jesus Christ.
“You’ve got thirty seconds to get naked,” I told her.
Her eyebrows lifted, and then she moved.
“Well damn,” I muttered.
She yanked her shirt over her head while I stripped mine off and tossed it somewhere behind me. Her jeans hit the floor just as I shoved mine down my legs.
Neither one of us wasted time.
Twenty seconds later, we were both completely naked and staring at each other like we’d lost our damn minds.
McKayla looked incredible sprawled across my bed. All soft skin, curves, dark hair, and those sharp eyes that somehow still looked a little dangerous even when she was turned on.
My cock was already hard as hell by the time I climbed onto the bed with her.
She grabbed me immediately and then her hands were everywhere.
My shoulders. My chest. My arms.
Her mouth crashed against mine hard enough to make me groan into the kiss.
God, this woman kissed like she meant it. No hesitation. No sweetness.
Just heat. Need.
I gripped her hips and dragged her against me until her thighs spread around mine. She moaned softly into my mouth when my cock slid against her wet pussy.
“Push,” she breathed.
“Yeah, baby.”
Her fingers dug into my shoulders while I kissed down her neck slowly, sucking hard enough to make her gasp.
She rolled her hips against me, and I liked that too damn much.
Her hands dropped between us, wrapping around my cock with a soft curse leaving her lips.
“Fuck,” I groaned.
She stroked me slowly once, twice, then looked up at me through dark lashes while she rubbed herself against me again.
“You gonna help me out here?” she whispered.
I slid my hands up her thighs and gripped her ass hard enough to make her squeak. Then she climbed onto me fully, straddling my waist.
My hands settled on her hips while she lined me up with her slick heat. “Jesus Christ,” I muttered.
She lowered herself slowly, and the second I slid inside her, both of us groaned.
Perfect.
McKayla’s head fell back slightly as she sank fully onto my cock. “Push…”
“Move, baby.” That was all it took.
She started riding me slowly at first, grinding her hips against mine while my hands tightened on her body hard enough to leave marks.
The room filled with soft skin slapping together, broken moans, and the sound of both of us losing our damn minds.
She looked incredible above me.
Her hair falling around her shoulders, her lush breasts bouncing every time she moved and her mouth falling open every time I thrust up into her harder. I gripped her hips tighter and drove into her deep enough to make her gasp loudly.
“Oh my God.”
“More?” I growled.
She nodded quickly, riding me faster now. “Don’t stop.”
Wasn’t a fucking chance.
I sat up enough to drag her mouth back to mine while she kept moving against me. Exactly what we both needed after the insanity of the last few weeks.
Her nails scraped down my chest while she rocked harder against me. “Push,” she moaned again.
The way she said my name was going to be the death of me.
I slid one hand between us and rubbed tight circles against her clit.
That did it. Her whole body jerked. “Oh fuck.”
“That’s it, baby.”
She came hard on top of me, trembling and gasping while her forehead dropped against mine.
The feeling of her clenching around me nearly took me out right there. I grabbed her ass hard and drove up into her a few more times before my own orgasm hit hard enough to make my vision blur. “Jesus Christ.”
McKayla collapsed against my chest afterward, both of us breathing hard. For a minute neither of us moved. Then she lifted her head slightly and smirked. “Well.”
I laughed softly. “Well what?”
“I seem to be really enjoying these test drives.”
I barked out a laugh and dropped back against the mattress with her sprawled on top of me. “You rode me like you were trying to win a trophy.”
She grinned sleepily. “Did I win?”
“Baby, you broke records.”
She laughed quietly against my chest.
I stayed there holding her for another minute before finally sitting up enough to switch off the light. Darkness settled around the room. I pulled the blanket over us once I got back into bed, and McKayla immediately curled against my side like she belonged there.
She traced lazy circles against my chest while the room finally went quiet around us. After a minute, she spoke softly. “This feels like a breakthrough.”
I looked down at her. “Yeah.”
“Erin being on the island…” She exhaled slowly. “That connects her to all of this.”
“It does.”
“She worked here.” Her voice got quieter. “Even if it was only a few days.”
I brushed my fingers through her hair slowly.
“We’ll talk to Ron tomorrow,” I told her. “Get more answers.”
She nodded against me, already sounding sleepy again.
I kissed the top of her head once. “Sleep, baby.”
