CHAPTER THREE

– SEVRIN –

Stomping into the clubhouse, I slam the door shut behind me and go straight to my office.

Once inside, I shut that door with a bang as well.

Sauntering to my desk, I round it and drop my ass in the chair.

Meeting my fated mate makes it damn hard to focus, but what she said before she left? It threw me for a loop.

She literally said her brother won’t be breathing for long if we’re both hunting him. Why the hell would she be hunting her own brother? I remember all too vividly how their whole family were united as one when they came knocking on our door when Senna disappeared.

The door swings open and Karev steps inside. “Really, Prez? Slammin’ doors? What the hell has your panties in a twist?”

“Cassia Fosca Decimus,” I grit through clenched teeth.

Karev raises one of his eyebrows and states with a condescending tone, “Your lovely future wife.”

Wife. As if I’ll ever marry the bitch whose family has the blood of my family on their hands.

Anger is still running through me when I tell him, “I failed to avoid running into her, and then she fucked up by touching me.”

“Dammit. Is the bond fully in place yet?”

I shake my head. “She only took it to the second level, which means our powers are now useless against one another.”

“So?” Karev shrugs. “I don’t see the issue here.

You should have dragged her to the clubhouse and locked her ass up.

She’s a good angle to use as bait. Her brother would come to her rescue so we can finally kill the fucker who’s been crawling the shadows for decades.

Hell, we’ve never even seen him. You’d think someone with his level of vengeance wouldn’t wait decades to finish you off. ”

He’s right, no one from my family, or my club brothers for that matter, have seen Cassius. Except for Senna.

Ignoring that comment, I decide to state the obvious and lean my forearms on the desk in front of me. “Fosca’s powers might not have an effect on me, but it doesn’t mean she’s powerless.”

Karev gives me a wolfish grin. “Fuck her power. Need I mention I come from a line where my ancestors guarded the gates of the underworld?”

Okay, he might not be wearing a wolfish grin, more like the grin of a three headed hellhound since he’s a Cerberus descendant.

Every member of the Lexmore Beach, Maryland chapter is a supernatural being.

My VP is a hellhound, our enforcer, Shock, is a descendant of Jupiter and wields lightning.

Holton is a centaur shifter. Triton, our Sergeant at Arms, is a Triva descendant, which makes him a warlock.

Levan, our road captain, is a shark shifter.

We have more members who are a different kind of shifter. It’s become a rule not to add humans as members. We learned that the hard way when Cassius managed to influence a prospect. He somehow made him behead one of our own, and ride to Fatal’s Maryland chapter with the damn head in his saddlebag.

No more damn humans in our brotherhood. It’s the only way I can guarantee that fucker can’t control any of the member’s minds. Now, Fatal’s chapter might not have supernatural members, but we’re not the only Kings of Anarchy chapter with supernatural beings.

The president of the Massachusetts chapter has the power to camouflage, and another member is a vampire. The Nevada chapter is filled with different kinds of shifters. The president, Prowler, is a wolf, but there’s also a bear and a mountain lion.

Hell, the Ohio Chapter are scarecrows who protect their town, which is Halloween themed with a haunted hotel. Their club has a fall, horror, and Halloween themed business as a tourist attraction.

The Louisiana chapter is a mixture of vampires, demons, and shifters.

Then there’s the Alaska chapter, their president, Blade, is a bear shifter who recently claimed a human as his mate.

Vex, the VP, is a vampire and is stalking a woman named Tessa who recently found out what some of the members are.

The Alaska chapter even has a fallen angel.

I could recite more details of other Kings of Anarchy supernatural chapters, but it’s safe to say we’re definitely not the only one out there.

Focusing back on my VP, I grumble, “We don’t need the attention. The bitch is a medical examiner working cases right here in our damn town. I can’t simply grab her, lock her up, and be done with it.”

“Shit. We knew she worked with law enforcement...really? She’s working as an ME here?” Karev rubs his neck. “That does complicate shit.”

“Ya think?” I grunt.

Karev grins once more before he says, “We might have to make Levan eat the next one, or Croc. Hey, they can share, even better.”

Flipping my shit won’t do any good and it’s why I take a slow breath through my nose, hold it, and breathe out.

I mean, Karev means well with his suggestion for Levan, or Croc, another shifter with sharp teeth and an appetite for raw meat, to dispose of the next dead body we run into.

Yet, it would still draw unnecessary attention if the damn woman shows up here unannounced.

My vision blurs and my surroundings shift into a room I don’t recognize. Until I glance down and realize my hands aren’t my own and are fist-deep into a dead body.

“What the actual fuck?” I grunt and blink a few times, making the visual evaporate just as quickly as it hit me.

“It was just a suggestion,” Karev grumbles, oblivious to what happened to me a heartbeat ago.

I rub my temples. “The bond between my fated mate and me might cause more damn issues than bringing down heat on the club.”

“More than her fucked-up brother who’s on a killing spree, and the law enforcement side? Does she have a cunt attitude you don’t find appealing? A shoe collection draining your future savings? A crab shifter she fucks on the side giving her the crabs? What?”

The fucker chuckles about his own bullshit crabs joke.

I flip the idiot off and then lay out the issue. “I’m fairly sure I just tapped into her through our bond and saw exactly what she was doing through her eyes.”

Silence thickens the air between us when he stares at me slack-jawed.

Yeah, I’m stunned as well. Fated mates between supernatural beings have their own unique connection, and each develop their powers after connecting to strengthen the bond.

Except, when it involves descendants from a strong line of legendary Gods of the roman mythology, things clearly are a little more intense.

“This is a whole new level of clusterfucks, Prez,” Karev mutters.

A loud voice comes from somewhere inside the clubhouse, making me and my VP frown. I get to my feet while Karev opens the door. We both reach the main room of the clubhouse to see a bewildered man with wild eyes.

He has a gun in hand and is waving it around while he snarls, “Who of you motherfuckers fucked my wife?”

“Dammit,” Karev whispers. “I can smell the new sweetbutt, Brandy, on him.”

Ah, so that was the naked chick’s name who walked out of my bathroom this morning.

Levan slowly comes up behind the man just as the gun goes off.

Holton grunts, looks down at his chest and moves his jean cut away from his naked pecs to show a bullet hole. “Ouch, motherfucker.”

The man’s eyes go wide when Holton’s body starts to heal and pushes out the bullet.

The gun is shaking in the idiot’s hand when the centaur shifter takes a menacing step in his direction.

“You’re going to pay for making a hole in my damn cut, and I can tell you right now it’s not gonna be by offering your wife’s cunt.

I’ve already tapped it, like many of my brothers, ’cause she’s been giving it freely. ”

“Fuck,” I sigh in frustration.

The look in the man’s eyes is a promise more bullets are going to fly real damn soon. I get a little lightheaded when Levan’s gaze hits mine. I slightly dip my chin to give him my blessing, knowing what’s about to happen.

The upper part of Levan’s body becomes a blue-gray whirlwind blur as he partly shifts. The gun goes off twice before the mouth of a great white shark covers the fucker’s head and rips it right off.

“Great,” Holton grumbles. “Now I have three damn holes in my cut.”

The man’s dead body is bleeding out on the floor when Levan shifts back. There’s a grin on his damn face and a satisfied look when he glances down at his kill. It only lasts a second before he coughs and removes a patch of hair from his mouth by spitting it onto the body.

Karev is laughing beside me while I still feel slightly lightheaded as I stare at the bloody scene. I know for a fact it’s not due to the gory shit that just happened, and I hope to hell my fated mate didn’t just get a glimpse of what I just witnessed.

I need to deal with this shit, and fast.

Turning to Triton, our Sargeant at Arms, I tell him, “Church. Now, Trition. VP, you too. Levan and Holton, clean this shit up and make sure there’s not a hair or any DNA left of that fucker. Oh, and track down the cunt who caused this shit. She needs to go as well.”

I walk into church and wait for both Triton and Karev to enter before shutting the door.

“I’m going to need your help,” I tell Triton. “Would it be possible to bind my mate’s power without it affecting mine?”

The warlock is silent for a few heartbeats until he tells me, “I could place runes into handcuffs and bind her powers. Though, I have to warn you, Prez. Chicks tend to rage when they are being suppressed. So, you’d better make sure the cuffs stay on, otherwise you’d have one raging bitch on your hands. ”

I refrain from wincing, knowing he’s right, and instead I rumble, “Let me worry about that. Go make them and put a rush on it.”

Time to plan the first step in settling this vendetta once and for all.
