Property of Yak (Kings of Anarchy MC: Oakheart, Ontario #1)

Property of Yak (Kings of Anarchy MC: Oakheart, Ontario #1)

By Cala Riley

Prologue

I take another drink from the bottle of beer I have been nursing all night as the party rages on around me.

Usually I would be all for this. The booze is flowing.

The women are hot, wet, and willing. I could grab any one of them and fuck them against the wall right now.

None of the men here would say anything.

In fact, many of them are doing just that.

The moans are drowned out by the bass of the music, but there’s no denying the smell.

The clubhouse has the stench of alcohol and sex.

The Kings of Anarchy are known for being ruthless both on the battlefield and in bed.

They’ve made a name for themselves in all fifty of the United States and have expanded into Canada.

I shouldn’t be surprised. They are a much bigger operation than the club I represent.

The Mountain River MC is nothing like the Kings of Anarchy.

Where they thrive in the violence and chaos, we tend to try to remain peaceful. We have made a name for ourselves as well, but we are more known for the good we do for the community. Sure, the cops still don’t like us, but we try to keep our illegal dealings to a minimum.

Not here. I’m not privy to what they do, but I know the scales are weighed heavily toward the bad column. I don’t judge them for it, though. Everyone needs to have their thing.

I scan the group once again, waiting for him to show his face.

“Hey, handsome. Want to take me for a ride?” A beautiful blonde runs her hand along my arm, giving me the same look all of these girls have given.

They are desperate for a patch. They want to be the woman who will change my mind.

Make me take an old lady. Too bad for her, I’m not even remotely interested.

Sure, I’m happy for my brothers who have found their forever girl.

Three of them recently declared their own old ladies, which I could never fault them for. I never wanted that, though.

Why would I ever want to impose my shit on someone else? Sure, I am known as the fun one. The guy with a quick joke on the tip of my tongue. No one cares to see the guy underneath. The one I hide from everyone. Even myself at times.

The room is still loud and chaotic, but I know when he enters the room. The vibe changes. There is a tinge of respect in the air.

Then he meets my eyes. It’s one of our defining characteristics. How we know we’ve been fathered by the same bastard. He nods his head out the door. I don’t make any move until he disappears from my sight.

“Sorry, not tonight.”

That’s all I spare for the tits in front of me as I push through the crowd and head out the door on the opposite side of the building from where he just went.

It’s cool up here. Cooler than our summer at least. It’s something positive about being here.

Dread settles in my stomach as I make my way around the building.

“Where you going?” Aragon, the VP of the club, calls out from his spot by the fire.

“To take a piss. Seems the bathroom is a revolving door.”

He snorts. “Some of the girls prefer not to be fucked in public, and none of us are dumb enough to take them to our rooms.”

I nod. “I’m going to go find a tree to piss on.”

He smirks. “You do that. Watch out for those bears, though. They are killer.”

I ignore his warning and walk straight into the woods. I don’t know them like I know my woods back home, but I am comfortable here.

It only takes five minutes of walking before he makes himself known.

“Thanks for coming.”

I turn and find Yooper standing behind me.

“I thought you were going to make me walk all night,” I joke.

“I considered it. Payback for being a twerp growing up.”

I chuckle. “You’re just mad I could always pin you. Not my fault you were a small kid.”

“I let you pin me, dumbass. Mom would have killed me if I had made you cry.”

My mood sombers at the mention of our mother. She died when I was a teen. Yooper was already gone, but she left behind me and our two younger sisters. Thankfully they had fathers to go live with. I wasn’t so lucky.

“Why am I here, Yooper? We agreed to keep our distance. Stay off the grid. It’s why I joined Mountain River instead of the Oakheart Rebels with you,” I ask, cutting to the chase.

I might have told my club that I wanted to find my brother and reconnect, but that wasn’t quite the truth. He reached out to me and asked to see me. Something I never thought would happen, and for some reason, I couldn’t say no.

“Circumstances have changed.”

“That’s a bullshit answer, and if you aren’t going to be straight with me, then I’m leaving. I’m not putting my people in danger because your circumstances have changed,” I growl.

“Jameson, I need your help. I can’t trust a single person here. Shit…it’s not good. I don’t know if I will make it out alive if I don’t figure out who is betraying the club.”

I rub my hand down my face. My brother is probably the only person who could get away with calling me by my government name. The fact that he used it tells me this is serious.

“What about our mutual issue? Won’t this make it easier for him to find us? It’s why we separated,” I remind him.

“The ship has sailed on that one. He knows where I am. Has for a long time. You too, but I’ve kept him off your back.

I wouldn’t call you here if it weren’t dire.

When we patched over to Kings of Anarchy, shit was rocky, but we figured it out.

I don’t know what has changed since then, but shit is going sideways.

There are rats. Multiple. The men I am supposed to trust at my side could be the ones waiting to put a knife in my back. I don’t want to end up like Caesar.”

I look up to the sky to stare at the stars. The sky looks as clear and beautiful as it does when I’m back home.

“What do you need from me?” I finally say.

“Patch over. I can get it approved. I might not be able to trust any of my council at the moment, but the defectors are hesitant to go against me and show their hand. You’ll skip prospecting and go right into a fully patched member.”

“That won’t seem suspicious?” I look over to him.

He grimaces. “I might have already laid the foundation work. From the moment I asked you to come, I’ve told them you are unhappy with your club.

They won’t question why you are patching over after seeing how we run things.

What can I say? Kings men are arrogant as fuck.

They will like that we stole you away. Another way of saying they are better. ”

I look to the ground. What he’s asking me to do is something that will change my life forever. It means leaving the group of brothers I’ve called family and leaving the home I have built.

I look back at Yooper.

He’s my blood, though. My family through and through. He got me through my roughest years. Sacrificed for me in ways that no one will ever understand. There is a bond there that could never be broken.

He needs me now. I won’t disappoint him.

“I’ll make it happen then. I need to go back and tie up some loose ends, but I’ll be back. Two weeks.”

He nods. “Thank you, brother.”

They are simple words, but I know what he is conveying. He is relieved that he will finally have someone on his side he can trust.

Leaving him in the woods, I head back to the clubhouse. I ignore Aragon as he calls out to me. I don’t need his shit right now.

Instead, I head back into the clubhouse and find the blonde from before. She doesn’t hesitate to climb into my lap and kiss me.

If I’m going to be a Kings of Anarchy brother, guess I better start acting like one.
