Grace #2
I walk away. Because I know for a fact if I don’t I will be jumping him right here on the living room floor. After turning off the alarm connected to the door, I slide it open.
Michael and Theresa Balle are tied to the chairs inside. A husband and wife couple who didn’t just abuse me, but Anya, Gustin and others.
“Who are you?” She whimpers.”What do you want with us?”
“I want you dead.” I laugh. “For what you did to my child.”
“Who?” Michael asks. “We don’t know who your child is.”
“Is that because you hurt so many of us? Or just because you don’t give a fucking shit?” I grab a chain off the wall. I don’t bother dragging out their kills anymore.
“Please, I don’t know what you mean, you have the wrong people.” Theresa cries. She rarely got involved with the girls, but according to Gustin, she was very involved with him and the other boys.
“Trust me. I don’t.” I wrap the chain around her neck, squeezing it tight and asking Julian to zip tie the links together.
“You get to watch your wife die.” I say to Michael, getting the knife ready to chop off his junk - the one consistent thing I’ve done with them all. “Just like she watched you abuse all of us.”
“Who are you?” He whimpers.
“Your worst nightmare, or your best friend. Depending on whether you like where you’re about to go. Do you like Hell?”
“No.”
“Then I’m your worst nightmare, shame.” I shrug and stab his leg, He screams loudly.
“Shut up, you’re giving me a headache.” I sigh and head for the bottle of acid.
I don’t know where Julian gets it, but I know I like using it.
“Honestly, you uncles are getting boring now.” His eyes widen when he realises who I am.
“I wish one of you actually wants to go down below. Because when I die, I get to have my fun with you again. Only this time I get to torture you for infinity.” My stomach starts to churn.
Weird . I take a needle from the shelf and fill the syringe with acid.
“Eyes open, sunshine.” I tilt my head in disappointment when he closes his eyes tight.
“I said open.” He shakes his head. Julian, ever so kindly, forces his eyes open for me.
“I remember Jessi coming home one day with bloodshot eyes. Can you remember why?”
“B-b-because I stabbed her in the eye with the heroine.”
“That’s right.” I smile and stab the point into his pupil.
His screams are silent just before he passes out.
“They don’t put up much of a fight anymore.
” I exhale, pulling the knife from his leg to slash his throat.
Turning, I see Theresa’s breathing has shallowed and she’s in and out of consciousness.
The two men don’t say anything as I walk out the room.
“Grace.” Julian calls after locking the room back up. “Everything alright?”
“Just need to clean up. Alone.” I add when the two of them step forward.
I come out of the shower feeling mostly refreshed. The vomiting before the shower was random, but I feel a little better now at least. And yet I still have that dreaded feeling in my gut.
Something’s wrong. Something’s very wrong. Even though I messaged the group chat while I was drying off after the shower to see if everyone was okay and they all confirmed they were. My gut still tells me something is coming.
And my guts have never been wrong.
Flicking the switch on the kettle, I hear the two men cleaning together. I hold back my chuckle as I remember finding out about the bet last week. Shaking my head I pull three cups out of the cupboard. Throwing a tea bag in two and coffee in the other.
“Best make it three teas.” A deep, very familiar voice makes me jump. Spinning I see someone who I didn’t want to see. His green eyes burn into mine. His salt and peppered hair isn’t slicked back like I’ve seen before, but relaxed and stroking lightly against his forehead.
I knew it. I knew something was wrong.
I’m so sorry guys. I love you.
My breathing quickens, lungs struggling to keep in air. Yet I know I have to protect my men.
Please look after my babies. I pray in my head, hoping they can hear me.
“It was all me.” I blurt out to the man walking closer. “They had nothing to do with those bodies in there, it was all me.” I hold my hands in front of me. “Arrest me, not them. They’re innocent.”
Police Chief Gerald Shaw is standing in front of me, casually dressed with his hands in his pockets. A small smile on his face, although his eyes scream he’s upset.
He knows about Howard. He knows I got his brother killed.
“Nice to know you’ll protect my son, Grace.” He sounds distressed .
Son?
Hands come down on my shoulder and I’m being pushed behind a large body. Julian stands in front of me, I quickly step between them holding my arms out again. “I promise, it was all me.”
“It’s okay baby.” Julian steps beside me, his demeanor relaxed - even with two dead bodies in the next room and the chief of police standing in front of us. Dante joins us, putting a hand on my shoulder when I go to stand in front of Julian again. I look up at him and he shakes his head.
“Dad? Why are you here?” Julian asks.
Dad?
“J, it’s your mum. She’s been kidnapped.”
