Chapter 25 Briar #3
We do, I realize. I taste like him and he tastes like me. I smile, shocked but pleased.
He pulls me, rolling me beneath him on the bed, and my breath catches again.
I feel his fingers at my core, testing to see if I’m still wet, and I make an embarrassing squelching sound when he slips his fingers into me a few times.
He licks them with another one of those sexy smirks before lining himself up with my entrance.
I’m surprised he’s still hard . . . hard again?
But I don’t have time to question it because he slides into me with one deep, driving thrust.
I automatically cry out over how good he feels inside me, and rush to cover my own mouth this time, knowing I won’t be able to stay quiet.
It’s like I walk around, living my daily life not recognizing that this important piece is missing from me until Dominic is inside me.
Kinda how I didn’t realize he was missing from my life, either, until he inserted himself right into that too.
He strokes into me a few times, letting me adjust to him, before rising to his knees and sitting back on his heels.
Bringing my legs to his shoulders, he caresses me over the silly giraffe socks, which are half fallen down now, with a teasing grin.
I expect him to gently slide into me again.
Instead, he lays an arm over my thighs, keeping us locked together and then begins slamming into me harder, deeper, faster, shaking the whole bed in the process.
Oh my god.
Yes.
This is what has been missing. Dominic, with his ability to let me feel strong and weak, free and safe, in control and out of control .
. . all at the same time. Wanting to scream my joy and my pleasure to the sky, I fight to stay quiet, but the best I can do is muffle my whimpers against my palm.
When even that gets to be too much, Dominic falls forward, catching himself with his hands on either side of my head, effectively folding me in half despite having never done yoga in my life.
“You okay?” he asks. His voice is gravel, low and gritty.
I try to nod, but it comes out more like a desperate jerk. “More,” I mumble, and he smiles.
“Good.”
It’s all the warning I get before Dominic resumes slamming into me.
This new position makes me feel it even deeper.
I swear he’s hitting my lungs. Or maybe I just can’t breathe because I’m folded up like an Auntie Anne’s pretzel.
But he gives me the oxygen I need, kissing me to muffle our sounds. Okay, mostly my sounds.
In moments, I’m on the edge again. “Dom?” I try to warn him. I don’t want to wake up Harley. I have to be quiet, but I don’t know if I can be.
“I’ve got you,” he vows.
I think he’s still kissing me, swallowing any noise I make.
I feel him over me, but my entire soul is floating through black space as my body shakes and spasms. As I return, I realize Dominic is struggling to stay quiet and I return the same favor, sealing my mouth over his to muffle him as he fills me with jet after jet of hot cum.
“Jesus fuck, Briar,” he gasps, blinking dramatically when we’re done, and I release his mouth so we can both breathe again.
I smile, high on hormones and release and bliss and pride. I did that to him. Little ol’ me, Briar Johns. With my silly nightgown and even sillier socks. I do a weird finger wave. “Hi.”
“Hey,” Dominic answers, grinning. Then with a chuckle, he says, “Stay there. I’ll get a washcloth.”
Once we’re cleaned up and situated back in the bed—to actually sleep this time—Dominic pulls me to his side. With my head on his chest, I can hear the steady thud of his heartbeat. It feels reassuring and comfortable, a song I could listen to forever.
“You awake?” he whispers. “I need to tell you something.”
I don’t move. I don’t let my breath hitch. I try really hard to not let fear grow. That last one is the hardest. “Yeah?” I answer.
“Okay, don’t freak out—”
“Saying that makes me freak out.”
“Briar . . .” His heart thuds faster against my cheek. “I love you.”
I lift up, barely able to see him in the darkened room. But I see his smile. To be sure, I poke his cheek to make sure it’s one of the good ones and not a “gotcha, just kidding” one. It’s real. “You do?”
He huffs out a laugh. “Yeah, I do. And I know it’s fast and I know you might need time, so I’ll do the albatross thing and wait forever if that’s what you need.
But I needed to tell you.” He’s rambling, which is about the most adorable thing I’ve ever heard.
Confident, cocky Dominic is nervous about sharing his feelings with me?
“Dom?”
“Yeah?” he says, his voice tight.
“I love you too.”
Time stops, at least in this room. And in the moment, I think we both realize the hugeness of what we’ve just said. Or at least I do.
Dominic pulls me back into him, and with our lips close enough that I feel the brush of his, he says, “Of course you do. I’m Dominic Lee, what’s not to love?”
I’m still laughing when he kisses me. Even though he’s absolutely right.
