Chapter 28

I can’t be the only man that thinks about sex like ten times a day.

And what Amber just did to me has my dick jumping in my pants.

First, that skirt is a solid ten on her.

Then to see her bend over in them…that was great.

I’m allowed to look? I can’t wait to see her in that skirt tonight, barefoot on the beach.

I think that skirt will be the death of me, and that’s why when I saw it hanging on its hanger, I had to suggest it. And she’s a smoke show in it.

“Can we go to the earring section?” she asks, walking out with the outfit in her arms. “I want to look for something classy to add to the fit.”

I stand and then follow behind her. “Yeah.”

She says to herself, “Maybe a necklace.”

When we reach the section, she’s touching everything on the rack and humming the song that was on the radio in the truck before we got out. Watching her like this is out of our normal element, and I’m eating this shit up.

“Do you like this?” I ask, holding up a necklace with an M on it.

She rolls her eyes. “What do you think about these earrings? Should I go with something that dangles or…” She holds it up to her ear and then looks at me. “Try your best to imagine, so I don’t have to put it on.”

“That looks good.”

“Or this,” she asks, holding a square-shaped thing to her ear.

“No.”

“Okay,” she says. “The dangling ones. Ooh, look at these belts.” She grabs a black one and whips it towards me with a laugh.

“What’re you going to do with that?” I ask.

She looks at me through her long eyelashes and says, “Whip your ass into shape if you’re out of line.”

Why does that sound hot? I imagine taking off the belt and tying it around her wrists. Fuck, there I go thinking about sex again.

“I don’t like rules,” I offer. “I’m definitely a rule-breaker.”

“Naughty boy,” she scoffs.

I break eye contact to look at the earrings again because I won’t be able to control myself for much longer. This playful, flirty side to Amber is turning me on. Maybe it’s because I keep calling her my girlfriend, and my dick is hopping up and down like girlfriend, girlfriend, girlfriend.

“Did you get your mom a gift?” she asks.

I shake my head.

“A card?”

I shake my head again.

“What is wrong with you? Let’s go get her one. Come on.”

I walk beside Amber across the store to the greeting cards. I take a few, reading them.

“These are brutal,” I mutter.

“What, you don’t like cards?”

“You know these end up in the trash, right?” I ask, placing a card back where I got it.

“So, what if it does? The point is the gesture.”

I lean down to look at one that’s caught my attention. “I’ll leave it to you to choose a good one.”

She picks one and says, “Let’s get her a thoughtful gift. Something for the kitchen. Maybe some wine.”

“That’s a bit overboard.”

She scoffs. “No, it’s not.”

I throw an arm over her shoulder and say, “The card is enough.”

She looks up at me, staring into my eyes.

I continue, “Trust me. The card is thoughtful enough. Do you need anything else before we leave?”

She looks forward. “Maybe some nail polish.”

We walk across the aisle into the beauty section. We walk down a few until she finds the nail polish.

“Any color I shouldn’t do?” she asks.

“White,” I joke.

She shakes her head. “I want a complimentary color like blue.”

“Or,” I grab the yellow. “You could paint them this color.”

She grabs it and asks, “Yellow?”

I nod. “I think your boyfriend plays for the Honey Badgers or something.”

“Okay,” she rolls her eyes. “That’s something a cute girlfriend would do. And I like it, it’s like a honey yellow. Fitting.”

She’s chewing her bottom lip as she observes me for a moment.

“Bandages?” she asks.

I follow her, expecting that she knows where to go. And she does. We walk down the aisle as she looks at my face.

“Oh, it’s bleeding,” she says, walking up to me. She reaches for my cheek as I peer down at her. She taps my cheek very gently. “Is this okay?”

“Yeah,” I say, observing her.

She shows me her finger with blood on it. She places her clothes on the shelf and starts opening up a few of the bandages. First, she grabs the Neosporin and puts it on my cut.

“This might not do anything, but just in case.” She opens the bandage next and folds it in half to fit on my cheek. Then she rips open a Band-Aid and puts it gently on my face. I’m lost in her eyes. God, she’s fucking beautiful.

“So much better,” she says with a smile.

“I’m ready if you are,” I say as we gather the trash and open containers.

“I’m ready,” she chirps, grabbing her things from the shelf. “Let’s get to that hotel.”

“After you,” I say.

When we’re ten minutes away from the hotel, I reach for her hand. She glances down, confused, but I need to know I have her support.

“I’m happy that you decided to come.”

“Yeah…boyfriend.”

I smile, holding her hand. “We’re having lunch with them.

And then my mom’s heading off to get ready.

They seal the deal at sunset on the beach.

Then they’re going to take pictures and have a private dinner, so I’ll take you out to dinner and then we can go to the jacuzzi or hang out in the room.

Whatever you want to do. Tomorrow we will eat breakfast with them and we have to check out at noon. ”

“Okay.” She smiles. “Sounds easy enough.”

“We can check-in, so make sure you have everything. My mom said that there’s valet parking in the front.”

I squeeze her hand and then let go to focus on driving. She sits in the passenger seat, staring out the window for the rest of the drive. And I can’t count my blessings enough. I’m grateful she’s here.

When we get to the hotel, Amber’s eyes light up as she observes all the nice greenery.

“Have you stayed here before?” she asks.

“Not this one, no. But my mom likes this area.”

“I can see why,” she says.

The valet waits for my truck while I grab our bags from the back and Amber grabs her target bag. When the truck drives off, she takes her bag from me and says, “I got it.”

A man behind her says, “I can get those for you.”

She looks over at him and then back at me. “Oh, is that necessary?”

He shakes his head. “No, ma’am.”

“Okay…sir, thank you.” She puts her bag on her arm and then smiles at me. As I walk past the guy, he hands me a ticket for my truck, I thank him, and then follow Amber into the lobby.

“This is so nice,” Amber says as we walk to the front desk. The place is filled with modern furniture and beautiful artwork.

“Checking in,” I say to the front desk agent. “Matthew Pearson.”

Amber stands next to me, but she’s busy observing the big piece of art on the wall. We get our hotel keys and the front desk agent shows us the path to our room.

I grab Amber’s hand, and for the first time, she doesn’t hesitate. She observes the hotel as we walk through the lobby. She’s subconsciously using me to lead her to the room while she enjoys the art on the wall. I release her hand when we reach the elevator.

“What floor are we on?” she asks when we step in.

I click on level four and glance at her. I joke, “The size of your shoe.”

She glares at me in our reflection and snarks, “More like the size of your di–”

The elevator stops on floor two as I stare at her. When the people walk in, I say to her, “You’ll be very disappointed to find out it’s not even that big.”

Her hand smacks her mouth as she spits, laughing.

Kudos to me for making her react like that and possibly making her imagination run wild. A small dick isn’t good for anyone, but neither is a huge dick. Let’s just say it’ll pique her curiosity and it’ll be our little surprise if she ever finds out the real size of it.

When we reach the fourth floor, Amber walks out first and says, “By the way, my shoe is a size 8.”

I nod. “Me too.”

We walk in unison next to each other as she looks down at my feet.

“You are not a size 8.”

I stop at our room. “I’m not talking about my shoe size, Amber.” I unlock the door with the keycard and watch her turn crimson. “After you.”

She hurries in and stares at the single bed in the room.

“I…” she trails off. “Matt…I…there’s no couch?”

I stand beside her. “I guess not.”

“I knew to expect this, but now that it’s actually happening…I don’t know.”

I place my bag on the bed and say, “You’re my girlfriend for the weekend. There are no solid rules to it, so when my mom booked the room, she assumed we would share the bed. You won’t even notice I’m next to you. It’s just a place to sleep.”

“First, I am your fake girlfriend. And second, of course, I’m going to know you’re in the same bed as me, you’re like twice my height and weight.”

I shrug because she’s right. “It’s only for one night. I won’t bite.”

“It’s just weird,” she says, walking to the other side of the bed. She places her bags on the nearby chair and says, “What time are we eating lunch with your mom?”

I check the time. “In two hours.”

“So,” she plops on the bed. “What are we doing until then?”

“I’m leaving that up to you. I don’t know if you like to relax on vacations or have a full schedule.”

She leans back on the pillows and says, “I like that you’re calling this a vacation and letting me call the shots.”

“That’s what girlfriends do, right?” I mutter.

She says, “What does the hockey prince want to do?”

I sit on the bed and shrug. “I could sit on this bed and watch hockey all day. Or I could get out and do something. It doesn’t matter to me.” I look over my shoulder. “I’m leaving it up to you.”

“Okay,” she says, thinking for a moment. “I think you have to help me.”

“Help with what?” I turn around.

She shrugs. “If I’m myself around you, I think your mom is going to know that I am so not into you.”

Now I’m intrigued, so I comfortably face myself to her and listen.

She continues, “I need help selling it. I’m not the best with moms, and from what I remember, she’s really protective of you. I’m not scared, okay.” She laughs. “But I know she’ll pick me apart, so I want to be your perfect girlfriend.”
