Chapter One #3
“Gods!” Callum rasped and pushed his face into the back of my hair, his hips jerking as his cock pulsed.
A deep groan rumbled against my neck before Maddox joined us in orgasm, his large body quaking.
He wasn’t as vocal in his pleasure as me and Callum, but as his blue eyes met mine, they had a dazed glint in them.
He rode the waves of his release, rocking up into me slow but deep and filling me with so much cum that it oozed out.
I slumped against Maddox, drained of all energy. “I think you two killed me.”
“Then how can you still bless us with that mouth?” Maddox cupped my face in one hand, a sated smile on his lips.
Callum breathed out a tired laugh and pecked kisses against the top of my spine. As he withdrew from me, more cum dribbled out.
I was too tired to move. “Muffin lord down and going back into sleep mode. Need coffee.”
“A bath first,” Maddox said, lifting me from the bed. “Coffee after.”
As he carried me across the room and into the connecting washroom, I nuzzled his muscled chest and breathed in the scent of his skin, a warm spice and manly musk I couldn’t get enough of. He sat me on the edge of the large claw-foot tub and turned the faucet to start heating the water.
Despite this being a medieval-fantasy-type world, there were similarities to the contemporary one I knew.
Water faucets, for one, though the temperature was controlled by magical runes.
Same went for other everyday appliances, such as ovens, stovetops, and the refrigerator.
They were either powered by runes or energy crystals.
Maddox sat behind me in the tub and lathered me up with lemon-and-honey-scented soap.
“I can wash myself,” I mumbled.
“Shh.” He gently bumped my nose with the soapy washcloth. “Let me take care of you.”
The warm water and glide of the rag over my body was soothing, so any further complaints died on my lips. Being pampered sometimes wasn’t so bad, I guess. My eyes closed as I savored the feel of the soft cloth against my skin.
However, the thoughts I’d tried hard to push from my head soon found me again, preventing me from fully enjoying said pampering.
A lot had changed since last night. Draven and Reign, two spies I adored, had journeyed to the Shadow Realm to tell me King Eidolon was dead and that Prince Cedric, the cruel bastard, would officially be crowned soon and take the throne.
On top of that less than awesome news, my men had also been declared as traitors of Bremloc under the suspicion that they’d ‘helped me poison the king and escape.’ Cedric had ordered they be killed on sight.
Blood boiling, my powers as the Hallowed Saint had awakened, triggered by a raw anger that’d surged within me. As that anger expelled from my body, the flames in the fireplace had exploded upward, scorching areas of the mantle.
The shock of it had terrified me, and I’d run from the room. Run from the truth I didn’t want to face. That I truly was different—special. That I had powers and was fated to use them in a future war, just as the saint before me had done.
Even worse? Lord Onyx had witnessed my power firsthand. The same power he had seen once before when the former saint had defeated his father.
“I’ll never forget the way her hands sparked as she dug her fingers into his chest and ripped out his mana. Like blue fire.”
Blue, just like the sparks of my fingertips.
“What do you think will happen today?” I asked, the trembles in my body sounding a bit in my voice.
“In regard to your powers awakening?” Maddox dipped the rag back into the water, then smoothed it over my shoulder blades.
“And nearly setting the throne room on fire, yes.” I cringed at the memory. “Lord Onyx saw everything, as did Seraphina, Borus, and some of the guards. Once the cat is out of the bag, there’s no putting it back in.”
“Which cat do you speak of, and why was it in the bag to begin with?”
I breathed out a laugh. “It’s a figure of speech. I just meant that my secret is out now, and we can’t go back to pretending everything’s normal when it’s not.”
Would Onyx hate me now that he finally knew the truth? Maybe throw shackles on my wrists and toss me into the dungeon, making me his prisoner after all?
“Room for one more?” Callum asked as he trailed into the bathroom, his washboard abs still glistening with a sheen of sweat.
My mouth watered, and I swallowed hard. Yeah, those abs were a great distraction.
“No,” Maddox said without missing a beat, his deep voice tickling the shell of my ear. I lightly elbowed him in the stomach, and he smiled. “Very well. If you must.”
The tub was huge, so the two knights, even with their bulky, muscled builds, managed to fit into it. Maddox kissed my nape while Callum leaned forward and captured my lips.
Fane would be expecting me in the kitchen soon. He was a real stickler for time too. One minute late, and he’d throw me into the oven and serve me up for breakfast.
But the moment with my knights couldn’t be rushed.
The outside world could wait for a while longer.
