Chapter 49 Lennox

LENNOX

My scream ripped through the room. It echoed off the walls.

The dishes on the table rattled. Everyone stopped in their tracks, frozen in time.

They would pay. They’d all fucking pay for hurting him.

For daring to lay a finger on him.

I thrust my sword up, and blood rained down on me as my sword cut through the guard’s stomach.

I scanned for Luka and Keziq. Guards surrounded her now and Adreona was nowhere to be seen. Figured she’d run from a fight. She knew hurting Luka would unlock my rage. As much as I hated to admit it, the bitch knew me well.

I ran for the guards surrounding the witch, they were the only ones still in the room, the rest, including the one holding Viona, had disappeared.

The rest that weren’t already dead by my sword.

I screamed as I charged for the guards.

I never realized how therapeutic screaming was.

But it felt so fucking good.

It fueled my rage.

Sent my magic fluttering and pumping through my veins.

I made quick work of the first guard, and as I turned to the next two, I scanned for Luka, my sword clashing against the female guard’s pursuit.

He writhed in pain, as Keziq continued her assault.

I threw out a burst of air, but it was blocked by the guards, they were a fortress around her.

“Lennox!” I disarmed the female guard and turned my attention toward my sister as she and Nico raced into the room.

“She’s got Luka!” The female guard fell to the ground, blood dripping from her lips. “We need to get him and get out of here!”

I lost myself in my movements, Luka, I had to get to Luka.

Each guard I killed, another one appeared, keeping me from closing in on him. I had to get to him. Life after life I took, my body on autopilot as I killed one guard after another, Nico and Kara fighting alongside me.

Finally, the last guard fell, and nothing stood between me and Keziq.

I let out another vicious scream as I leaped for her.

Keziq’s eyes flew open. She fell back, Luka’s body slumping to the ground as she scrambled away.

“Kara! Nico! Get her!”

I didn’t spare another look at Keziq.

“Luka!” I fell to my knees, wrapping my arms around his torso and pulling him into my lap.

“Luka.” I brushed his matted hair away from his sweat-soaked face.

“Luka, wake up.”

My chest heaved. “Please, wake up.”

I knew the effect Keziq magic could have on a mind. I still had nightmares about it.

I had to fight my way back from it.

He would too. He’d fight his way back. He’d fight his way back to me.

He had to. I hadn’t gone through all this for him to leave me.

His eyes opened as he drew in a breath.

“Lennox.”
