4. Deja McCoy #3
From her background, I could tell that she was at my mom’s house. She was sitting at the dining room table.
“It was good. Lyric took pictures and videos. I’ll send them to you once we get off the phone. Auntie, that nigga was so damn fine. My God!” I told her, and she started laughing.
“And that’s why I called because the nigga is fine, so I wanted to see what was up. I know you told me that ya’ll had to do a few spicy scenes. How did that go?” she asked, having to adjust the way that she was holding the phone because Nico was reaching for it, trying to take it out of her hands.
At four months, he was such a busy body, always trying to get a hold of things, so that he could put it in his mouth.
It was such a blessing to have a cool auntie.
Most people probably couldn’t carry on like this with their aunt, but I could.
She’s always been that safe space for me.
She’s always been someone in my life that I could talk to as if she was one of my home girls.
We had such a beautiful relationship. It’s been that way since I came into this world.
Looking back at her, she looked so beautiful tonight.
She’s always been one of those women where you could just look at her and smell the money on her.
Today was no different. Her hair was freshly done, just like it’s always been.
Skin was glowing, and diamonds sat in both ears.
It’s also never been like my aunt to not have something icy around her neck, so she had that going on as well.
I could see her arm that was wrapped around my nephew, so my eyes shot down, going to her wrist, seeing the iced-out Cartier watch that she was wearing.
She will forever be my favorite ‘it’ girl.
My aunt was no longer dancing. She put her dancing shoes down probably two years into me dancing.
I wasn’t shocked when she finally decided to stop dancing.
It was time. My aunt had been stripping damn near my entire life.
She saved up more than enough money to go on and live a good life without having to dance every night.
She kept a few tricks, just like she’s always done.
Plus, she was working on something special these days.
With all the years of experience that she had in the club, the bomb outfits that she wore on stage, she was now working on her own line of custom dancewear.
I’m talking bodysuits, two-piece sets, bras, garters, the whole nine.
She’s been working on it for a few months now, and so far, I’ve seen some of the pieces.
It was something that I’ve never seen before, and I couldn’t wait until it was complete, so I could rock it on stage.
“Oh, you’ll see once I send you over the videos and stuff.
We worked so well together. It came so naturally.
We’re about to leave and head back to the hotel, so we can get ready.
He has a hosting at a club tonight, and he wanted me to come.
At first, I was telling his ass no. One, I know that people are going to assume that we’re dating.
We just did this music video together, and now we’ll be at the club.
You know they going to take that and run with it.
Plus, I’m not trying to be beefing with Hitta.
He was already in his feelings about me flying out here anyways and doing the video with Kilo,” I shared, and when I said that, she sucked her teeth at that, along with rolling her eyes at me.
“If that nigga can’t handle what comes with being with a bad bitch, you need to leave him the fuck alone.
When he started messing around with you, he knew that you could get called for things like music videos, photoshoots, and other bookings.
All the hoes that nigga be fuckin. Fuckin them for free at that.
Don’t let that nigga get in your ear and try to stop your bag.
I’ll be glad when you leave his ass the fuck alone,” she shot, and Lyric hopped in the conversation, adding her two cents in, letting my auntie know that she felt the same way.
Everybody hated Hitta for me. My godsister Eden, and my best friend Dream hated him just the same. Don’t even get me started on my godmom. If I wasn’t grown, she would probably beat my ass for enduring the shit that I do from him.
Hitta could make me happy. He could make me laugh to the point that I’m rolling over in tears, having to hold my side.
But, he could also hurt me. I’m such a tough bitch, always trying to keep my head held high, and not wear my feelings on my sleeves, but all the fuckin around that he does, it gets to me, even without me showing it.
“Where’s my sister?” I asked, changing the subject, not about to get into it with her about Hitta.
“She just walked down. She about to go outside tonight. I’m happy she did something with her hair.
I was going to scream if I had to look at that messy ass bun another day,” my auntie spat, taking her eyes off the camera for a second.
She turned to look to her right, and I’m sure that she was staring at Nari.
“Flip the camera. Let me see her. I want to see what she has on,” I said, and my auntie went ahead and did it. Nari was standing right there, and she looked so pretty tonight.
Nari didn’t take after my mom, and I when it came to her figure.
She didn’t have the small waist, with the fat ass.
My sister was super tiny. Tall as hell, and very slim.
She’s been taller than me since she was in 6th grade.
Looking at her, you wouldn’t believe that she just gave birth to a baby boy four months ago.
Her body immediately snapped back. Plus, with the depression that she often feels from feeling isolated, and that she was missing out on things in life, it caused her to be even smaller than she was before the pregnancy.
I helped with my nephew as much as I could, but I worked a lot, and was constantly on the move, so I couldn’t be there outside of the time that I would have him during the day, while she was in school.
I knew there were times when she wanted to get out of the house on the weekends, and spend time with her friends from school, but the weekends is when I made the most money, so I wasn’t available most times.
“You look cute. Where you going?” I wanted to know.
“Dave and Busters,” she said, coming closer to the screen, so that I could see her clearer.
Her response reminded me that she was still just a baby at the end of the day. Although she had a child of her own, she was still a child herself that just wanted to have fun, and a life like the rest of the children her age.
“Who you going with? You have money?” I asked.
“Why you running down all them fuckin questions to my child like you’re her mother? The things you asking her, me and her already covered that!” that was the bitch that said that. My fuckin mama.
Her mouth. Her damn mouth is the reason why the two of us couldn’t get along.
She always had some slick ass shit to say.
I’ve been on the phone with my aunt over five minutes, and I didn’t hear my mom let out a peep, so I didn’t think she was around.
When she finally found her voice to say something to me, it was for her to talk shit.
I’m telling you, the bitch was weird as fuck.
“Here you go with the bullshit. I’m running down questions on her because that’s my fuckin little sister.
That’s cool that you already covered that.
I’m covering it with her too. I hate it when you do that shit.
You always trying to shake shit up between the relationship that I have with my sister.
Go finish doing whatever the fuck you was doing!
” just that fast, she’d managed to piss me off.
My mom was such a trigger for me. For as long as I could remember, she’s always talked crazy to me.
As I got older, the things she would say to me only got worst. See, I’ve never been a soft bitch though.
I would talk shit right back to her ass.
Now that I was an adult, and no longer living under her roof, I’ll talk to her like the bitch on the street that she treats me.
“And I hate when you do that shit, trying to play mama to my child. You’re her sister. Only play that role!” her face was in the camera now.
I was really sitting here, arguing with a bitch that looked just like me. Both her face, and my auntie Twan’s face was in the camera. Identical twins, but like I said before, they didn’t act shit alike. Well, they did act alike, but my auntie didn’t have the nasty ass soul that my mom had.
“Meka, chill the fuck out. Go back in the kitchen where you were!” my aunt snapped at her, trying to push her away, but she wouldn’t move.
It’s cool because I didn’t want the bitch to move. I wanted her to stay her ass right there, so that I could read her to filth before I hung the phone up.
“I don’t ever try to play mama when it comes to my little sister. You, on the other hand, plays mama very well though. Being a mother is a fuckin act for you. You’re performative as fuck—”
“Deja, stop! Ma, you stop too. Please,” Nari screamed at us.
I wanted to keep going. Lord knows that I wanted to let this lady know that she had me fucked up, but I knew how much my sister hated for me, and our mom to argue.
She’s hated it since she was a little girl.
I remember she used to be in her room, hard down crying, especially when we started physically fighting.
“You got it. Ima let you have it. Nari, keep your location on, and I’m going to Zelle you some money. I love you,” I responded, saying these things quickly.
I didn’t even wait for a response. I quickly hung the phone up and tossed it on the bed. I sat here, literally shaking. That’s how angry I allowed her to make me.
