WARREN ‘WOLF’ BENNETT

Ipulled up to Bennett’s Aviation Group this morning.

The company that my father owned and passed down to my brothers to manage.

The business operated out of Miami Opa- Locka Executive Airport.

Although I don’t always see eye to eye with my father, when it come to this business, and seeing the blood, sweat, and tears that he put into building something like this, I couldn’t help but to offer him my respect.

To know that this business was black-owned, and there was mostly black staff that worked for the company, was inspiring in itself.

This location held corporate offices, private terminals for when customers flew out of the airport privately, and more than enough space to house the fleet of aircraft that the company owned.

I could have very much still been a part of this company, just like my brothers were.

Part of the reason why my father was so upset with me is because I chose to leave.

I was the child that had my father’s hustle.

When it was passed down to us, I remember him telling me that he was mainly passing it down to me, but he didn’t want any conflict with my brothers, so he passed it off as if he was handing it to all of us.

When I walked away from it, I crushed the nigga. He didn’t expect me to do that. I just knew that he would remove the shares that I had within the company, but he didn’t. My shares with the company were the only involvement that I really had. I wasn’t hands on with this business anymore at all.

I only came down this morning because my brothers had been hitting me all week, telling me about the aircraft delivery that was happening today.

This was the biggest aircraft acquisition in Bennett’s history.

It was something that my pops had been trying to acquire since before he retired, but things didn’t align at the time.

Even though he did his thing behind the scenes, and he allowed my brothers to take over the company, he was still hands on whenever he needed to be.

My brothers had been explaining what the aircraft was going to look like to me for months, so here I was, stepping out of my car, headed for the building, prepared to see it in person.

There was staff on deck, in which I knew personally, so I spoke, while making my way inside of the building.

I headed in the direction of the ramp, which would lead me outside.

Walking down the ramp, I could look out of the big glass windows, seeing that it was already crowded outside with people.

The newest aircraft was stationed right there for everyone to walk around, take pictures, and admire it.

I geeked out about this kind of shit, so I walked a little faster, and before I knew it, I’d made my way outside.

“There you go, nigga. I didn’t think you were going to come. What’s up?” that was my big brother, Kingston saying to me, as he walked over in my direction.

He had a woman standing next to him that wasn’t his wife.

We all took certain character traits from our father, and Kingston just happened to be the nigga that took the trait of cheating.

He was a bold cheater too. It’s one thing for him to fuck hoes on the side, and try to hide the shit from his wife, but he did it loudly, and out in the open.

There were so many people standing out here and anyone could have snapped a picture of him and this woman together and sent that shit to his wife. He moved sloppy as fuck.

“Who is this with you, man? Where is Mya?” I had to ask him, bringing up his wife, just in case he forgot for a second that he was married.

“Stay out my marriage, nigga. You see Mya? If not, then don’t bring her up,” he said, getting defensive. He knew to get defensive because the shit he was doing was wrong.

I actually liked Mya. She was cool. A damn good wife to my brother, even though she didn’t need to be.

He wasn’t deserving of it. She was a good mother to their kids too.

She was supportive when it came to his position that he played within the business.

I’m sure she would have loved to be here this morning, celebrating this win with the team.

It’s no telling the lies that he fed her though.

I ended up walking away from him because I didn’t want him thinking that I condoned this shit. I went over to the aircraft, so that I could check out what brought me here in the first place.

I made my way over, and my mouth damn near dropped once I was closer to it.

Shit was beautiful. It was one of one for sure because I know for a fact that I’ve never seen another aircraft like this before.

It was that same black, glossy color as the rest of the fleet, along with the gold lettering, reading, ‘Bennett Aviation Group’, but those were the only similarities.

This plane looked modern. The body was long, and sleek.

Standing here, seeing the windows, you could check out how dark they were, as if a tint was added to them.

Wasn’t sure how much my pops pushed out to create this, but just from the look of it, I could tell that it was a pretty penny.

Everyone had their phones out, and they were either recording it, or taking pictures of it.

As I was standing here, taking it all in, I felt someone walk up on me.

It was my mom. She was wearing a smile on her beautiful face.

I’ve been working so much these past few days that I haven’t pulled up on her in a little minute, so the second she was close enough, she wrapped her arms around me, hugging me from the side. She squeezed me as she held onto me.

My mom was tall, but I was much taller than her. While she had her arms wrapped around me, I was able to lean my head down, so I could kiss her on her forehead.

“What’s up beautiful?” I asked, once she pulled away from me.

“I didn’t think you were going to come. I’m happy to see you,” she said.

My mom cleaned up nicely. For as long as I could remember, my mom has always been the kind of woman to put that shit on, even if she was just going across the street to the grocery store.

This morning was no different. We had perfect weather today, so she was able to wear a light blue button down top, that she had tucked inside of a pair of high- waisted jeans.

She wore a long tan trenched coat on top of the outfit, but it was casually draped across her shoulders.

She’s been growing her Birkin collection for as long as I can remember, so she stood there with a brown Birkin casually in her hands.

She wore tan heels that had her standing up just a little higher.

Her long, wavy hair was parted down the middle, and she’d nicely done her make-up this morning.

Drop dead gorgeous is what she is, and my father was a fool to continue to play with her the way that he did.

“I been working a lot, so I slept in a little later today. That’s why I was late.

My brothers been calling me, telling me about the delivery, so I wanted to come out and see it like everyone else,” I responded, and as I was saying this to her, my pops made his way over.

Him, and all that dark energy came over.

“Ahh shit. Here goes my wife’s real husband,” this nigga said, trying to be funny.

I’ve always been the son to be very overprotective of my mom. Ever since I was a kid, he would try to be funny and say that I thought I was my mom’s husband. Whole time, it was just about respect with me.

“Wallace, please don’t start,” my mom responded, calling my dad by his real name.

He laughed once she said that and hugged her from behind.

He placed multiple kisses on her neck. Staring at them, they were easily one of the most attractive looking couples that I’ve ever seen.

My mom was 55 but looked every bit of 35.

My pops was 58 but looked like he could be in his thirties as well.

Both were in perfect shape. They ate clean.

My pops has a gym at their house, so he would often get workouts in every day.

My mom was just naturally slim. Looking at them, you wouldn’t think they had the kind of problems that they had, but it was true.

“What’s going on, son? Your brothers told me that you were coming, but I didn’t think you were going to show up. You like to think that we’re enemies,” he went on to say to me, sticking his hand out for me to slap it up with him.

My father and I were the same height. I was bigger than him though. Being in the gym was an addiction for me. Two very manly men, that walked around with the exact same face. You could just tell that he was older.

I was still in my feelings about how he did my mom on their wedding anniversary, but for the sake of not bringing any bad vibes out here today, I stuck my hand out and shook it up with him.

“Don’t say that like you’re surprised that I treat you like an enemy. You know exactly what it is that you be doing,” I had to clear that up for a second.

He stared at me intensely after I said that. The same way he looked at me, is the same way that I looked at him. He eventually cleared his throat and looked at my mom.

“Baby, let me talk to my son. Give us a few minutes,” he went on to tell her. She nodded her head at his words, and before she could walk off, he pulled her to him.

Like the two of them were middle school lovers, he placed both hands on her ass.

For my mom, the hand that wasn’t holding onto the purse, she went ahead and wrapped it around his neck.

I had to turn my head once the two of them started kissing.

Not because I was grossed out. Shit, I had to grow up in the house with this.

When the two of them were good, they were good, and they didn’t care who they would show affection in front of.

I only turned my head because this nigga was performing.

He was hugged up with her right now, but knowing him, he would be with the next bitch tomorrow.
