15. Deja McCoy #3
I took my final bow for the night and gracefully left the stage.
While I left, there were about three security guards, and they were picking up all my earnings, placing them in garbage bags.
I knew that once they finished piling all the money in the bags for me, that they were going to bring it to the back.
I received so much love as I walked to the back. The dancers that stuck around, watching my set, gave me props, letting me know how good I looked on stage. While I was almost to the back, someone called out for me. It was Blue. He did a light jog, trying to make it over to me.
I stopped in my steps, waiting for him to come over.
The second he made it in front of me, my eyes had no choice but to look down at his left hand.
His wedding band was right there. You couldn’t miss it.
It was clear as day. I wanted to ask him so bad about whatever it was that he was doing with Lyric.
It was on the tip of my tongue to ask, but Lyric was my friend, and I didn’t want it to look like I was backdooring her, so I didn’t.
“Good shit out there. Good shit! As selfish as I want to be by telling you to stay a couple of more hours, I can’t even do that. You gave the crowd a show. I’m proud of you, girl,” he said, extending his arm out to me, giving me a quick, brotherly hug.
“Thank you. It’s so many people out here tonight. I just knew that I was going to run into Gaelle. She didn’t want to come?” I questioned. Gaelle was his wife.
I chose to ask that, instead of flat out asking him what was it that he was doing with Lyric.
Blue was a smart nigga though. Even though he did his years in the streets to have the street smarts, I’ve also held a lot of conversations with him over the years to know that he was smart in other aspects as well.
Smart because the second I asked him about his wife, there was a look on his face as if he’d just caught doing something that his ass didn’t have any business doing.
Kind of like the look that Lyric had when she walked out of his office.
“I told her earlier to come out with her girls, but she wanted to stay in the house,” he said, and when he said it, he couldn’t even look me in my eyes.
I’m sure he was lying. He probably never told her to come out tonight. I gave him that intense stare that I would give Hitta or any other nigga when I knew that they were lying. I didn’t have to call him out on it though. My eyes said enough.
“I’m about to pack up and call it a night. I’ll see you tomorrow,” I let him know, and that was the end of that.
I went ahead to the locker rooms, and as I was walking in, I noticed a big commotion going on. It was a lot of yelling back here. Happy yelling though.
That’s when I noticed that the girls were happy because Obsession had come back.
She was dressed in a tracksuit, hair was done, face was beat, and her duffle bag was on her shoulders.
It was late. Damn near one in the morning.
Because I knew club life, I’m sure that someone had hit her up, letting her know that a lot of money was in the building tonight, so she probably dropped whatever she was doing, and came down to the club.
Even though it’s only been a week since I’ve been back, she’s been gone since before I left.
Now that I knew she was pregnant, I now had the answers on why she hadn’t been coming into work.
That shit broke me down to my core when I found out that she was pregnant with Hitta’s baby.
Seeing the way that nigga put his hands on me, and beat me down the way that he did, I no longer was hurt about the pregnancy.
She was the one that was going to have to deal with his ass for the rest of her life.
I left that relationship with him with an empty uterus.
I no longer had any ties to that man. She could have him.
I wanted the nigga whose house I was sleeping over every night.
That’s the one that had my pussy purring.
Obsession had to feel my eyes on her because she looked in my direction. Just like any other time though, she didn’t speak to me, and I didn’t speak to her.
Our beef stemmed from one thing, and one thing only…
jealousy. Bitches tried to mask jealousy with saying that it was Blue’s favoritism in the club with me that they didn’t like, but it was deeper.
Obsession hasn’t liked my ass since she started working here two years ago.
She came from a different club in Miami, where she received a lot of love there, but once she came here, I was big dog around these parts, so she hated me from jump because of that.
She expected to come here and be the face of Club Playground.
She didn’t think it was fair that Blue always put me in the big sections with the ballers, I could make my own schedule, and Blue didn’t take a large cut out of my earnings.
She thought I was receiving special treatment.
In a sense, I was, but I could get that kind of treatment because my name alone will sell out this entire fuckin club.
That frustration turned into envy, and from there, we just never fucked with each other. I know for a fact it’s her hatred that she has towards me that made her fuck Hitta. I know that’s what it is. She did that shit to hurt me.
The stare down between me and Obsession went on for about five seconds, and I went ahead, moved along, so that I could back my bags, and get out of here.
“Poison, can I get in your business a little bit?” that was Rochelle.
Rochelle was the house mom. She’s been at the club for about 3 years now.
I have a love/ hate relationship with Rochelle.
I loved her because she really did a good job at running the locker room.
She stayed on top of keeping track of who was up next to dance, helping with wardrobe malfunctions, breaking up petty arguments in here, and she would stay in communication with the DJ, club management, and security about us.
Now, I hated her in that same breath because she was messy as fuck.
I felt like she played her part in why it’s some of the beef that takes place within the dancers.
She likes to go back, and repeat shit, and that’s why I didn’t tell her intimate details about my life.
“Now Ro, you know damn well that you can’t get in my business,” I said, making it over to my locker. I keyed in the combination and pulled my duffle bags out.
“I’m going to try my luck anyways. Word around town is that you’re fuckin that Bennett nigga.
The finest one. Wolf. I hear that money is fuckin long over there.
What’s said in this locker room, stays in this locker room.
What’s tea, boo?” she asked the question loud enough for all the girls to hear.
Again, that’s what made her messy because she knew that I didn’t fuck with half the bitches in here. She could have pulled me to the side and asked me that shit. Yet, she chose to ask me this out in the open.
After she asked it, it was as if a pen dropped in here. Everyone stopped what they were doing, with their mouths on the floor, waiting to hear what my answer was.
“What I’m doing with this pussy doesn’t concern you, Ro. Let that be the last time you ask me some shit like that in front of everyone. Okay?” I said it in a nice/ nasty kind of way. She knew she was being petty by asking that, and that’s why she just laughed it off.
I would never tell these hoes about me, and Wolf.
They fucked my last nigga to the ground!
One bitch had such a time with that dick, that she’s standing just a few feet away from me, pregnant with his baby.
Even though there really wasn’t much to tell right now between me, and Wolf, I wanted to keep that part of my life sacred.
It’s to the point that I don’t even talk to my aunt, and my girls about Wolf, which wasn’t like me because I typically told them everything.
Then again, I guess a piece of me didn’t tell them because then I would have to explain what led me to staying with him in the first place. If either of them found out that Hitta put his hands on me, I know for a fact that they would be ready to kill him.
Yes, it was foul what Hitta did to me, but I wanted out of that part of my life.
I was in a peaceful stage right now, and I wanted it to stay like this.
The second I let the world in, and gave just a little bit about me, and Wolf, I felt like that’s when the drama, and the noise would come.
I had enough drama, and noise to last a few lifetimes. I wanted peace now.
