Chapter 15 #2

Her stomach clenched in disappointment as he failed to respond. Unsure of what she was doing, she continued to speak to him, convinced he could hear her. As she began, she spoke from her heart, the words she couldn’t say. As if she were in a confessional, she whispered, speaking her truth.

“I’m sorry about today. I’m sorry this is happening to us.

You shouldn’t have to worry about hurting me.

I know you didn’t ask to be vampire. But you’re beautiful, Rafe.

Inside and out. Your wolf. Your vampire.

All of you. I don’t know if you can hear me, but I want you to know…

I lied. I don’t want to be just friends.

I want to go on a date. I want to go on lots of dates with you.

I want to go for beignets with you and get powdered sugar all over.

” She gave a small laugh. “I want to go to this little place I know in the quarter with candlelit dinners under a sea of twinkling lights that has amazing shrimp creole. I know it’s cliché but it’s romantic.

We’d go dancing all night and make love all hours of the day.

We’d take vacations. Maybe go to Europe.

Maybe we’d settle down, get married, have a kid or two.

” Skylar fought tears, aware she would never be a main character in his story, never his mate.

“This is my fairytale. I, uh, I don’t know how to get you to hear me.

Or feed. I just know…I want you to be happy. I want you to have your wolf. Please.”

Skylar pressed her lips to his, cupping both his cheeks with her hands. “Please Rafe. I need you to hear me.” I love you. “Please, baby. Wake up.”

The tips of her breasts grazed his skin, sending desire through her body. Skylar craved his touch, his bite.

Her fingers teased his thigh as she brushed her mouth over his. “Remember making love to me? Come play, feed.”

Rafe moaned in response. She gasped as his eyes flashed open, his hand gripping her wrist.

A mixture of fear and arousal threaded through her. Locked in his gaze, her heart pounded against her ribs as his mouth took hers. Skylar kissed him back, tasting, her tongue dancing with his. Her whole body lit on fire with arousal. This man would always be hers in her heart.

She wrapped her fingers around his rock-hard cock, stroking him. Her lips dipped to his neck. Her mouth moved down his chest as she tightened her fist around his shaft. He sucked her fingers, releasing them, as his fangs descended.

Rafe groaned as she guided him onto his sensitive back and slid between his legs.

Her lips hovered inches above his cock. Skylar teased the velvety, crinkled balls in one hand, her tongue sliding over his wet slit.

She moaned, tasting his essence on her tongue.

Stroking him, she plunged his cock into her mouth, swallowing him down to its root.

His fingers tunneled into her hair, his hips tilting upward as he fucked her mouth. She relished tasting her wolf. She stroked him, sucking his shaft, faster and faster.

“Stop,” Rafe pleaded, his fingers curled into her hair.

Panting, Skylar complied. Her body ripe with arousal, she moaned, her pussy aching for relief.

Like a panther, she rose, stalking over her prey.

Her lips wet with his essence, she climbed onto her hands and knees.

As she lifted her gaze, she drank in the sight of his hungry eyes watching her every move.

She hovered over him, her core mere inches from his cock.

“Skylar,” he growled, his voice rumbling over her.

They exchanged a heated look as she descended onto him. She cried out his name as his thick, rock-hard cock plunged inside her pussy. Her hair spilled over onto his shoulders as her head lolled forward. Fucking him, she moaned as his fingers teased over her breast, his hand around her throat.

Her body thrummed with arousal as her hips gyrated, her clit brushing his pelvis. He tilted his hip upward, filling her to the hilt, stroking her clit.

“Ah yes, Rafe,” she breathed.

He cupped her chin, his mouth crushing hers. She sucked a deep breath, edging closer to orgasm. As he thrust inside her, he palmed the globe of her ass, his fingers playing at her puckered hole, probing.

“Rafe,” she panted into his mouth. Closer, closer, every cell in her body thrummed with desire for her wolf.

“Yes, come for me, sweetheart,” he urged.

Skylar cried out in ecstasy as Rafe plunged a finger inside her tight hole. She arched her body as he delivered a powerful thrust, her orgasm crashing over her.

“Ahhh,” she gasped as he flipped her onto her back, her body quivering with pleasure.

She cried in pleasure as he pumped inside her tight core, pressing into her with slow deliberate strokes. She arched her hips, meeting each powerful thrust.

Never taking his eyes off hers, his fangs descended. Baring her neck, she submitted.

“Bite me.” As the words left her lips, Skylar’s heart raced in anticipation.

“Mine,” Rafe growled as he struck.

“Yes, oh God…” Seized by ripples of ecstasy, she lost her words, coming hard as he claimed her as his.

Rafe drank, tasting her sweet healing nectar as he made love to her. Skylar quivered in pleasure underneath him, her body pulsing with each possessive thrust. Her explosive orgasm rocked through her in a final shattering release.

In a frenzy of simultaneous climax, Rafe stiffened, exploding his seed deep inside her. He groaned as he released her neck, pressing his lips to hers.

Rafe consumed her, devouring her in a devastating kiss.

Never in her life had she experienced anyone like Rafe.

Skylar’s heart bloomed with emotion, aware her universe would never be the same without him in her life.

For this one moment, she’d relent, submitting to the pure happiness of loving him. My Alpha.

Skylar smiled, content in Rafe’s arms. Instead of falling asleep, they’d talked for hours about everything and nothing. Healed, he brushed his lips to her head, trailing his fingertips over her skin.

“If you were any supernatural, what would you be?” Rafe asked.

“I don’t know.” Skylar giggled and squirmed against him, with her leg wrapped over his. Her inner thigh brushed his cock, her body still ripe with awareness and arousal.

“Hmm…. are you ready to go again?”

“All night, every day.” Though an impossibility, they spoke to each other as if the moment would never end.

“No, seriously. I didn’t get to choose, but if you did?” he pressed.

“I don’t know. Maybe an orca. I do love my family,” she mused.

“A lioness?”

“No, I think maybe I’d be a raven or a crow,” she confessed. “I want to fly. And have my own murder.”

“All right, all right. The lady has made her choice.”

Skylar smiled as his fingers teased over her breast.

“I told you my dad, my grandfather…they all just had this kind of special thing with the crows. They’re cool. They’re not like any other bird. They have families and a community and I like that.”

“It fits with your vibe.”

“They’re also very clever. Did you know they can fly faster than wolves can run? I could fly ahead of you and warn you of danger. We’d make a good team,” she mused.

“And after defeating our enemies, we’ll come home and I’ll make a fire and cook you dinner.”

“And fuck me senseless.”

“But of course. Before and after dinner.”

“As you should.” Skylar laughed, shoving reality to the back of her mind.

“Where do you usually run? I’d want to see all the animals.”

“I have a cabin in Wyoming. Tons of property to run free. We’ll see the bison. Bighorn sheep. The only ones you’ve gotta watch out for are the humans.”

“Hmm. True. Well, I’ll fly so high they can’t see me. If they bother us, I’ll call all my friends to help us attack.”

“Sounds like you have a plan.”

“Indeed, Alpha.” Skylar yawned and snuggled into his embrace.

As she fell asleep in the safety of his arms, she imagined soaring high in the clouds while her wolf ran wild. There was no need for reality. Tomorrow would come and the bond would be broken. Under the darkness of the eclipse, she’d be forced to let him go forever.

Rafe held tight to her hand as they approached Ilsbeth.

It had been the best dream she’d ever had in her life…

until reality once again loomed over her.

Today was the end of her dream, with no return to what they’d shared.

Rafe’s vampire would be forever banished, their bond shattered into a million pieces.

Rather than indulging in the impending onslaught of feelings over the end of their relations, she chose acceptance.

“The eclipse is nigh.” Ilsbeth turned to Henri, who awaited her next command. “You may leave us. Gather the servants and remain in the safe room until I call for you.”

“Of course, madam.” He nodded, gave a brief bow, and exited without saying another word.

“We have twenty-five minutes,” Ilsbeth explained and pointed to the purple cloth on her altar. She reached for her sage and lit it on fire, cleansing her space, waving the smoke over the pouch.

Skylar had always loved sage but wasn’t sure she believed there was enough power in the smoke to rid the evil that awaited them. She watched as Ilsbeth set down the burning plant and tugged on the ribbons on the pouch, revealing its contents.

Ilsbeth’s eyes lit up with delight and pointed to a small vial filled with a crimson powder, a black feather and a stone. “Hellfire ashes. Crow feather. Amulet.”

“That’s it?” Rafe asked.

“Hellfire is hard to come by. The Fae are prohibited from giving it away. And this hellfire? It contains the ashes from my sister’s hair.”

Skylar’s stomach clenched. Rafe squeezed her hand and she released the breath she didn’t realize she was holding.
