Chapter 37

CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN

NASH

A knock on the door drew my attention from the steak I was cutting. Why did people show up at suppertime? It was rude. Fallon smiled and pushed her chart back from the table. “Hal, what brings you all the way out here? Please come in.” I heard Fallon’s voice change from chipper to concerned, and I pushed my chair away from the table and walked out to the front door.

“I didn’t expect to be here with news, but while I was going through your ex’s car, I found these in the back seat.” Hal said as he handed an envelope to Fallon. Ripping it open, I watched her eyes dart back and forth as she read.

“This says my divorce was finalized last month just shortly after I left. He signed the papers and everything has been filed.” She scanned the papers and stared at them in disbelief before looking up at me .

“Let me see.” I reached for the papers, and Fallon handed them to me. “If this is true, why did he come here looking for you?” Something still didn’t seem right. If these papers were filed, why hadn’t she been notified?

“I might have an answer for that.” Hal said as he shifted awkwardly on the porch. “When that guy’s men showed up, they let it slip that whoever his mistress was, is no longer in the picture. She’d had her baby and, well, it wasn’t your ex-husbands. So he was trying to file a motion to stop the divorce and if he could get you back, then it could all be null and void.”

“Smart isn’t a word I’d use for that man,” Fallon said off the cuff. “Thanks Hal, I appreciate you bringing these.” The sheriff left the house, and we both stared at the paperwork.

I hadn’t expected this to go through so fast, but I suppose when one side has money, the ear of a judge and extreme hatred of me, things can be moved along.

“You’re not married anymore and haven’t been for a month.” I whispered, unable to keep the smile off my face before I pressed my lips to her head. “You haven’t been since before Christmas, since before Kipp’s wedding.” I tried not to smile, but I couldn’t help it.

“This is such a strange feeling. I’ve been wanting it for so long, but gave up on it ever actually happening, and now it’s been over for a month.” She turned and walked into the living room, plopping down on the couch. “He can’t hurt me anymore. ”

“He shouldn’t have hurt you at all. That was my fault.” I pulled her onto my lap and brushed her hair out of her face.

We finished supper, cleaned the kitchen side by side, but it all happened in silence. It was a strange turn of events, and I wasn’t prepared for it. I was sure she’d be so happy I’d have a hard time keeping her head out of the clouds. This quiet, introspective woman beside me had me off kilter.

“I’m going to bed. Thank you for everything, Nash.” She kissed my cheek and left the room. We’d waited for this day, lost hope it would happen and now here it was and there was a dark cloud over everything. Turning the lights out, I climbed the stairs and flopped down on the bed.

I didn’t know how long I’d laid there staring into the darkness, but the door to my room flung open. Propping myself up on my elbows, I stared at Fallon’s silhouette. “What’s wrong?” I asked, bolting off the bed.

“Nothing, everything’s right. It can be you and me now.” She walked into the room and closed the door behind her. The moonlight shone in through my window and illuminated her perfectly. “I want you Nash. I’ve wanted you for as long as I can remember. You honored my marriage vows even when I didn’t care about them. The love you’ve shown Josie from the moment we fell back into your life, and the same love you show Lottie, even though you didn’t have to.” Silently, she reached out and touched my chest .

I didn’t dare move, speak, or even hope I knew the reason she was standing in my room. This was a dream. If I even flinched, I’d wake up, and I didn’t want to wake up. This was too good.

“Make love to me.” She whispered as she flicked my belt buckle open and pulled my shirt out of my jeans. The snaps rippled as she opened my shirt and pushed it off my shoulders. Her fingers skimmed over the tattoos I bore and traced an open area over my heart. “Why’s this space empty?”

Pressing her hand to that spot, I smiled, “I kept it for the most important people in my life, my wife and kids. Do you know anyone who can fill that spot?”

“I think I know a few names that could fit.” Reaching behind her, I grabbed the back of her head and pulled her to me. What she didn’t know is I already had an appointment to have two new names and her’s again, permanently etched over my heart.

Crushing my mouth to hers, I didn’t wait for her to open her mouth. I pressed my tongue against her lips and forced her to open.

I wanted access to every part of her, but I would take my time. This had been years in the making and I wasn’t going to rush. Fallon reached her hands between us and pulled down my zipper, and my jeans fell to the floor. “So much for going slow.” I mumbled, without pulling away from her mouth.

“We’ve got a lifetime to take it slow. Tonight I need fast and hard Nash.” She let her head fall back as I kissed and sucked my way down her neck. Picking her up, I tossed her onto the bed.

“Fast and hard are my middle names.” Her laughter bubbled out, and she clapped her hands over her mouth. I didn’t think that either of the girls would hear, but it was something we’d have to be mindful of.

“Really? I thought it was Jensen?” She laughed, and I trailed the kiss down her neck, to the top of her cleavage.

I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one to get naked, when she reached between us and tugged on the tie of her robe, letting it open, before she shrugged it off. She wasn’t wearing anything underneath. “When you know what you want, you go after it, don’t you?” I trailed my hand between her breasts and stopped just above the V between her thighs. “Do you have any idea how long I’ve waited for you to be in my bed?”

“Three long years.” She replied, moaning as my hand moved to cup her wet sex. Dipping a finger into her, she arched her back and pressed against my hand. She rocked from side to side. Feeling her rub herself on my hand made me harder than I’d ever been.

“Nash, as much as I want hard, you’re going to have to be.” I stopped the words from leaving her mouth by kissing her. I didn’t miss the wince when I pressed my fingers into her. She’d had Lottie only six weeks ago, and since I was a witness to that, I would take it slow.

“I know, my love, there will be time for all the things. We have a lifetime together.” Moving her to the bed, she slid to the center, and I climbed between her legs.

She was the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen. I couldn’t believe she was mine finally. The mother of my children and the woman I’d spend every waking moment making happy, and letting her know how much I loved her.

Fallon looked up at me, her hair spread out on my pillow, in my bed, waiting for me to make love to her. “Are you going to stare at me all night?” She smiled slyly, letting her hands roam up my arms.

“No, I’m not into torture.” I drawled as I leaned down to kiss her. Moving my hand, I grasped her breast and rolled her nipple between my fingers and she moaned against my mouth. Reaching for my nightstand, I pulled open the drawer and pulled out a condom.

“I thought you didn’t bring girls here?” Fallon questioned as her brow arched.

“I don’t, but where else are you supposed to put them?” I ripped open the foil package, and her hand wrapped around mine.

“Please don’t wear one. I want you and me with nothing more between us.” Her eyes pleaded with me as she pulled the condom out of my hand and dropped it to the floor.

“Toot’s you could get pregnant again, and I don’t want to put you through that.” I brushed a lock of hair away from her face, and her eyes bore into my soul. “I will never put you through darkness like you’ve had. We’re going to be happy, Fallon, I promise you that.”

Fallon reached up and took my face in her hands. “if I get pregnant, I get pregnant. Nash life is different now. It’s not hopeless. I have you, the girls, and family.” She smiled, her eyes sparkled in the dim light and I knew everything she said was right, but I was still worried about her.

“I’ll pull out, even though it’s not foolproof. But you’re calling the doctor and getting on birth control. You can fill every nook and cranny with kids, but I want your body all to myself just for a bit.” Leaning down, I covered her mouth before she could say anything else.

Fallon reached down between us and grabbed me, positioning my hard tip at her entrance. “I don’t have all night Nash, you’re killing me here.” She huffed, and I thrust into her, making her breath hitch in her throat. Her eyes were wide, and panting as I stare as still as I could until she said to move.

Leaning over, dragging my tongue up the side of her neck to her ear and whispering, “sorry Toot’s, I said I’d go slow. I got lost in the moment.” Her fingernails dug into my back and her mouth was still open, with no sound escaping.

“More Nash.” She finally said as she gasped for air. Slowly, I pulled out of her and gently plunged deep within. She dragged her nails across my back and I shuttered as the sensation shot to my cock.
