Havoc
Something feels wrong.
I can’t explain it.
But after years in the teams, you learn to listen when your instincts start talking.
Buddy and Dylan are playing in the dirt lot.
Aspen is talking with Saint near the porch. Grandpa is sitting rocking, minding his own business.
Everything looks normal.
Too normal.
Then I see it.
A truck parked half a mile down the road.
Engine off.
Windows dark.
Facing the farmhouse.
Watching.
My jaw tightens.
Wolf appears beside me like he felt the shift in the air.
“You see it?” he asks quietly.
“Yeah.”
“How long?”
“Don’t know.”
The truck doesn’t move.
Doesn’t leave.
Doesn’t come closer.
Just sits there.
Observing.
And suddenly I know one thing with absolute certainty.
