Chapter 15 Havoc
Havoc
Ibreak the lock.
Inside the box are three things.
A flash drive.
A folded map.
And a pistol wrapped in cloth.
Aspen goes pale.
“That’s Joseph’s.”
The pistol is engraved.
SEAL Trident on the grip.
Wolf studies the map.
“Nevada,” he says quietly.
Multiple locations are circled.
Marked in red.
I looked at Aspen. “Do you have a laptop?”
She walks us into the house and hands me her computer.
I plug the flash drive into the laptop.
We are going to have to find the right code to open it.
Wolf whistles.
“What do you think is on it?”
Tank wasn’t just hiding keepsakes.”
“No,” I say quietly. “Whatever is on that is important.”
“He’s hiding something dangerous,” I say.
Aspen looks between us.
“What is it?”
Before I can answer—
Buddy starts barking.
Loud.
Sharp.
I turn toward the window.
A truck is parked at the end of the driveway.
Same dark windows.
Same silent engine.
Watching.
Wolf mutters under his breath.
“Well.”
“Looks like somebody else might know about the flash drive.”
And suddenly…
Tank’s past just caught up with us.
