Chapter 62 Aspen
Aspen
He’s impossible.
I knew that the second I met him.
But this?
This is something else.
“Sit,” I tell him.
“I am sitting.”
“Then stop trying to get up.”
He glares at me.
Like I just insulted his entire existence.
Dylan snorts from the floor.
Buddy lifts his head like he’s enjoying the show.
“You’re worse than her,” Havoc mutters.
Dylan grins.
“She’s always like this.”
“I am not.”
They both look at me.
Same expression.
Same disbelief.
I cross my arms.
“Fine. Don’t listen to me. Tear your stitches. See what happens. I’ll have to call the Doctor to come and sew you up again.”
Havoc leans back again.
Slowly.
Deliberately.
“That’s what I thought,” I say.
Rylie laughs softly from the kitchen.
“Look at you,” she calls out. “Running the place.”
I shake my head.
“I’m just keeping him alive.”
Havoc’s voice comes low.
“You’re doing more than that.”
I still.
Just for a second.
Then I move again.
Because if I don’t…
I’ll feel that.
And I can’t.
