Chapter 62 Saint
Saint
We don’t let Laney see the body.
Wolf handles that.
Havoc handles the perimeter.
Trigger handles the town police, because the Sheriff is Rylie’s father.
I handle my new family.
Once Laney and Emmy are secure in the safe room, I leave two men on the door and head downstairs.
The entire team is already there.
“This wasn’t a scare tactic,” I say. “This was a clean kill op.”
Trigger nods. “Two-man team. One breach. One overwatch. Amateur mistake was coming in without knowing the layout.”
“Or assuming no resistance,” Wolf says.
“They were wrong,” Havoc growls.
“Thank God, I heard something.”
“Who do we think sent them?” one of the guys asks.
I don’t hesitate.
“Marco Rossi.”
Nobody argues.
“That means money,” Trigger says. “Resources. Reach.”
“And more coming,” Wolf adds.
“Yes,” I say. “Which is why Laney and the baby are now full-time protection detail.”
“No more windows,” Trigger says. “No more routines. No more soft perimeter.”
“And no one leaves her alone,” I add.
“Not even you?” Wolf asks.
I look at him.
“Especially not me.”
