Chapter 10 Super Preggo and The Missing Mom Riddle

Emmi’s voice softened into something almost fond, the way someone talks to a skittish animal.

“Oh, Cole-y Poo, there’s nothing to be embarrassed by. It’s not like you haven’t seen your wife naked before.” She let that land, watching both of their faces heat. “As for where your mommy went… well, let’s just say you won’t be seeing her for another three-ish months.”

Cole’s brow furrowed hard. “What the fuck does that even mean?”

He tried—really tried—not to let the mental image of Zoey naked take root, but the new adult body he was stuck in had other ideas.

Heat crawled up his neck. Across from him Zoey was doing the exact same desperate mental dodge, refusing to picture Cole without clothes even as the thought kept slipping through anyway.

Emmi rolled her eyes, clearly done with their denseness.

“Do I really have to spell it out for you two? You’re a happily married couple. You just recently moved into your dream home about six months ago, and that first night in your new home you ‘celebrated.’ Need I say more?”

They both stared at her like she’d started speaking another language. The hint sat right there in the open and neither of them could grab it. Emmi’s expression flattened into pure disbelief.

You’re kidding me, she thought. I gave them adult brains and they’re still this slow.

She sighed, long and theatrical.

“Fuck it. I’m not even gonna bother trying to explain it.”

Her right hand lifted and waved one more time.

The change hit Zoey like a detonation.

A tiny, liquid explosion bloomed deep in her lower belly—warm, wet, and utterly wrong.

Her hands flew to her stomach on pure instinct.

She yanked the hem of her shirt up and watched, frozen, as the soft flat plane of her abdomen began to push outward.

The skin stretched in real time, going from smooth to taut in long, glossy increments.

The dome kept rising, rounder and heavier with every second, until it looked like she had swallowed a beach ball whole.

The weight settled low and permanent, pulling at her lower back, shifting her center of gravity so hard she had to plant her feet wider just to stay upright.

Under her palms the new skin was hot, tight, and already dotted with the faint itch of fresh stretch.

“I-I-I’m… no… this can’t be real…” Zoey’s voice broke. Tears spilled over as she ran both hands across every curve of the swollen belly, mapping the impossible shape. “You made me pregnant with my mother…?”

Emmi’s correction was gentle and absolute.

“Daughter. And yeah, your eggo is super preggo. Congrats, girl! You two must be super excited to be expecting parents!”

Cole’s vision actually grayed for a second.

He watched the entire transformation with his mouth open, brain scrambling for any explanation that wasn’t this.

Then the new knowledge simply… arrived. Clean.

Complete. It felt like he had always known.

Zoey was six months pregnant with their daughter.

The certainty sat in his chest like it had lived there for years.

He moved without thinking.

Two steps closed the distance. His longer arms wrapped around her from the side, careful of the new belly, and pulled her into a solid, protective embrace.

Zoey stiffened for half a heartbeat, then the fight drained out of her.

She let him hold her, forehead dropping against his chest while the tears kept coming.

Neither of them noticed the clothes rewriting themselves.

The plain white t-shirt melted into a soft pastel-yellow maternity top that stretched comfortably over the heavy curve of her stomach.

A supportive maternity bra settled into place beneath it, cradling the already ample breasts that would only get heavier.

The boxers she had still been wearing simply ceased to exist; the only thing left on her lower half was the original pair of sweatpants, now riding low under the dome of her belly.

“This is impossible,” Zoey sobbed into Cole’s shirt. “All of this is impossible… I can’t be pregnant. I-I just can’t be. It was just a game, lady. Why? We didn’t mean any of the stupid things we said. We were just teens!”

Emmi’s giggle was bright and merciless.

“If it’s popsicle, it’s possible, hun. You’re right—it was just a game. But it’s the new year, and being sexist assholes at such a young age is a hard no. Besides, my chat loves watching stuff like this happen… and as an entertainer, I gotta give the fans what they want.”

Cole’s arms tightened around the trembling, pregnant body that used to be his best friend. The question left him raw.

“Why this? Why did you turn us into adults? Why is Zoey pregnant with our daughter?”

The last word felt natural in his mouth. He only realized afterward that he could no longer think of the missing woman as anything except the baby girl currently growing inside the person he was holding.
