Chapter 12 Guided by the Body

Zoey shot him a dirty look that was only half convincing.

She pushed herself back to full height—well, as full as five-foot-seven-and-a-half with a six-month belly would allow—and stood there breathing a little too hard. The slick heat between her legs had not gone away. If anything the short argument had made it worse.

“I don’t even know how to begin…” Her new voice came out softer than she wanted. “It’s not like we had ever done it before we were changed…”

She dragged in a deep breath, steeled herself, and took one step forward.

Then another. On the tips of her toes she stretched up until the heavy curve of her pregnant belly pressed flush against Cole’s stomach.

The contact was startling—warm, firm, impossible to ignore.

She slid both arms up around his neck and locked her fingers together at the back of his head, using him for balance and something more.

Cole’s hands hovered in the air for a second, startled.

“Uhh… What are you doing, Zo?”

“Just work with me, you goof.” She looked up at him through the long chestnut hair that kept falling into her eyes. Her cheeks were still flushed dark pink. “Our bodies want—no, need—each other right now. I’m just trying to let my body guide me for this next part…”

Cole swallowed. The thick length of his cock twitched hard against the soft cotton of his sweats at the word need.

He forced himself to take a slow breath and stop fighting the new instincts that were already flooding in.

His hands settled carefully just above the wide flare of her hips, thumbs resting against the soft sides of the maternity top. He waited, watching her face.

Zoey tugged gently at the back of his neck. He resisted for half a second out of pure leftover teenage awkwardness, then consciously let the resistance melt. His head dipped. She licked her plumper lower lip once—nervous, automatic—and closed the last inch between them.

The kiss was quick. Soft. Almost chaste.

She jerked back almost immediately, eyes wide with embarrassment.

“I’m sorry. I-I didn’t mean t—”

Cole didn’t let her finish.

He leaned down and kissed her properly this time—firmer, longer, the way the new adult body seemed to already know how to do.

Zoey’s eyes fluttered open in surprise for a heartbeat, then drifted shut.

A soft sound escaped her throat as she melted into it, arms tightening around his neck, trying to pull him closer even though the solid curve of her belly kept them from pressing fully together.

The taste of him, the heat of his mouth, the scrape of faint stubble against her softer skin—all of it felt brand new and terrifyingly right.

The kiss deepened.

Cole’s hands slid downward in a slow, deliberate drag.

Past the waistband of the maternity top, over the full swell of her hips, until both palms cupped the round, soft cheeks of her ass through the thin sweatpants.

He gave them a generous, testing squeeze—fingers sinking into the new flesh that still didn’t feel like it should belong to the person he used to game with every night.

Zoey broke the kiss with a tiny, high squeak.

She pulled back just far enough to look at him, lips already kiss-swollen, and a knowing little smirk curved her mouth even as her face burned.

“Maybe we should take this to the other room?”

Cole’s answering smile was pure, helpless hunger.

“I think that’s a great idea.”
