Chapter 1 Eris #2

“This my boy Rayzor,” City introduced then stepped aside.

Rayzor was guzzling a bottle of water. He wore a towel over his head, chest still out but now wearing sweats. Even his Adam’s Apple bobbing was sexy.

“Birthday girl,” he called out as he stood from the sofa, towered over me. I glanced up into his eyes. “You must’ve been luck tonight.”

I bashfully tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. “I think you had that all by yourself. Congratulations on the win, though.”

He grabbed my hand with his strong ones. His knuckles were still taped up. Veins protruded. Specks of Flow’s blood was under his nails.

I squealed on the inside.

“True that.” He chuckled, showing a slugged solid gold grill at the bottom as he smiled. “A nigga was almost out of there though. But seeing this beautiful, chocolate ass skin helped me get that W.”

I smiled.

“You have a way with words I see.”

He held out his hand for me to shake.

“Eris, but you they call me E,” I introduced, holding out my hand.

We grew silent.

I cleared my throat.

“These are my girls, Suki and Rhea.”

“Sup,” he said without dropping his gaze from mine. “What you got planned for the night?”

“Whatever they have planned for me.” I shrugged.

“Nah. You with me.” He paused. “After these interviews, I’ll meet y’all outside. Sit, chill, enjoy some food and shit.” He caressed my cheek with his thumb. “Aiight?”

“If that’s what you want.”

When he released me, I let out a breath I had been holding.

City and Suki were having a sidebar that they didn’t think anyone saw. She stepped away from him after they saw us looking.

Rhea and I shared a look.

Rayzor lead his men away from the room, leaving us alone with security and a room full of possibilities.

City walked past us out behind Rayzor.

“Girl!” Suki squealed when the door closed.

“Something going on with you and City?” I smirked.

“Girl… that? Nope. I just wanted him to let Rayzor know we don’t play about you.”

It took about two hours before City came back for us.

Rayzor was posted up outside against a matte-black Raptors truck, lifted with big wheels.

It fit him. The illuminated red lights bled into the night.

He wore a black, silk short-sleeved shirt, unbuttoned.

Black trousers, a heavy Cuban Link, pinky rings on each hand, and a big face Rolex.

He had his arms folded, biceps almost ripping the sleeves.

He opened the door. “Hop in,” he said, low and husky.

I had to use the power boards to get up.

The girls whispered amongst themselves as he opened the backdoor for them. “Girl, happy fuckin’ birthday to you!” Suki shrieked. “You better act like the bad bitch you are!”

I slowly examined his interior. Black suede seats with Rayzor in the headrests in red. He had a single energy drink inside the cupholder unopened. It smelled nice and expensive, well taken care of. You could tell he took pride in his vehicle.

“Girl, hush. I’m along for the ride just like y’all.”

“We know all he wanna do is fuck,” Rhea smartly remarked.

I spotted the intense conversation him and City were having before City hopped into a black truck. The driver left in a rush going in a different direction. I thought Rayzor was going to leave as well.

“Is City coming?” I asked.

“Nah,” he replied, starting the truck.

The engine rumbled, coming to life. It vibrated under my ass.

I glanced back at Suki, and she shrugged. I turned back around as we ran over the lot’s gravel. Security opened the gate for us to exit, letting us into the world.

Fans were on the sidelines with posters of him. They waved and shouted for him. It felt weird being in his spotlight, so I looked off to the side. Yet, I didn’t miss Rayzor holding up two fingers at them, thanking them while smoothly controlling the wheel.

When we touched main road, the sky lit up with Rayzor’s face on the billboards of the arena. He didn’t look fazed by the glitz and glamour of his career. He appeared to be living in the world with the rest of us.

The quietness of the ride, Miami’s cityscape gliding pass as we escaped into it, I glanced out the window, taking it all in. Not believing it was happening made my stomach tight.

“Rayzor, what you want with our girl?” Rhea asked.

My nerves spiked. I wanted him to say something. Cough, clear his throat, anything, but he hadn’t.

His quiet felt dangerous.

“Are you always this quiet?” I asked.

“Only when I’m studying or after a fight.”

“Studying what?”

He glanced around. “You.”

“I’m right here. Just ask.”

“Nah. I’ll find out whatever I need to.”

“Oh.” I clasped my mouth shut.

We arrived at the club. They broadcasted Rayzor and Flow’s fight on the board. When Rayzor exited the truck, people screamed for his attention. The cameras started again.

“Girl, now this how you do your birthday! Go big or go the fuck home!” Suki shouted.

I laughed while nodding my head.

“I guess.”

Rayzor rounded the front of the truck, my eyes following him along the way. He opened the door, and the music, noise and calls sounded full blast. After helping me down, I pulled my dress down while he opened the door for Suki and Rhea.

Then he grabbed my hand, placing it under his arm, and led us to the rope.

They lifted the red velvet material, letting us in.

The deejay’s voice boomed through. “Ladies and gentlemen, help me wish the birthday queen E a happy birthday!”

We made it to the section overseeing the club just as bottle girls came out with sparklers on bottles and a sign in hand. My mouth flew open.

“Wait. How did you–” I started.

He smirked. “It’s about you.”

“But it’s your night. You invited me.”

“I already got mine. You enjoy. Come on, birthday girl.”

Suki squealed. Rhea was trying her best not to smile with a cup in her hand. She tilted her imaginary hat to me. Rayzor handed me a cup.

“Happy Birthday, E.” He raised his glass.

“Happy Birthday, E!” the crowd shouted with their cups in the air.

We downed the liquor, and I nestled under his arm.

“You could’ve had any woman tonight, why me?”

“Because you were the only one that looked into the darkness and didn’t want to run.”

He was right. I was lured into the darkness. Afraid of what I couldn’t see, yet I wanted to stay.
