Chapter 8 Eris

Exiting my job, I saw Courtland and got annoyed. I’ve been ignoring his pop ups, gifts stacked at the door, the messages and everything else, but he wasn’t hearing it. I couldn’t be with someone as crazy as him. That altercation with Michael was the reality of how different we were.

He pushed away from his Benz.

“Damn baby, you ain’t gon’ say shit to me?” he called out to me as I tried speeding by.

He grabbed my arm gently. I glared at his hand like shit on my shoe. He felt the tension and dropped his hand.

“What, Courtland?”

He looked so good in his cream Fear of God tee, tailored jeans with the black leather belt, lightly swagging. All-white 1s, Cartier, solid Cuban link with his thin rope with the cross, diamond pinky ring, fresh line-up, moisturized skin and lips. Cologne whisking through the air.

“Damn, I’m Courtland now?”

He almost had me.

Clearing my throat. “Ain’t that what your mama named you?”

The darkness in his eyes and draw back from me told me I hit a sore spot. I knew the relationship amongst his family and should’ve thought about my words but shit, I’m angry with his ass so he’s going to have to deal with it.

“What do you want?”

“I want you, but you actin’ like you don’t fuck with a nigga.”

“And why should I after that shit you pulled?”

“I’m gon’ bleed a nigga every time behind you, E. You gave me that pussy, fuck you thought? I don’t know why you setting mothafuckas up.”

“We’re not together, Rayzor. I still date. I’m not saying that shit when you got bitches with you.”

“Ain’t nobody worried ‘bout them hoes. I’m ‘round here sniffing yo’ pussy and can’t sleep because you not with me. Fuck that tells you, E?”

“That I got some good pussy and keep attracting ain’t shit ass men. Bye, Rayzor.”

I tried walking away and thought he was going to follow me. With each step I took felt a pull, but I had to stand strong. Rayzor had that effect on me that’s hard to beat. It grew every day when I’ve tried stopping it.

“Shit, I can’t cap you down, baby. You got that shit that got me outchea playing stepdaddy to the kids. Own that shit.”

I giggled against my will.

He pulled me into him. “I miss that smile, baby. That’s all I’m trying to do is make you smile.”

“And you can do that without all the extra.”

He tilted his head with that sexy smirk. “Sometimes a nigga like extra.”

I rolled my eyes, trying to mask my smile.

“Let me make it up to you.”

“On my terms and bring a friend.”

“Oh shit, you trying to get down like that?”

I slapped him in the arm.

“Not for me fool. For my girl, Suki.”

“Oh shit, I got you.”

Sitting in his arms in silence, there was a lot said without words. That’s how things were with us. It was dangerous to feel this open, careless and free with a man after all I’ve been through. But even after Rayzor’s antics, I admit that I enjoy being around him.

Rayzor sent a car to pick up Suki and me. We arrived at Teedy’s, one of the exclusive and new restaurants and lounge in the city. It was packed when arrived, but I was nervous to get in. The waitlist was long.

Rayzor was waiting at the curb. I almost ran over and tongued him down because he looked too damn good in his all-black. I’m convinced whatever he wore, he made it look irresistible. It’s in him, not on him.

“Girl, you should’ve told me I was third wheeling, I could’ve called somebody,” Suki mumbled.

“What’s up, Suki?” Rayzor greeted. When she looked at City, it’s like she saw a ghost.

“Hey, Rayzor.” She waved.

“You ain’t gotta call nobody. This was part of the plan,” I told her.

“That’s what my boy City here for, Eris got you right,” Rayzor added.

“Girl, this a double date?” Suki asked, and I giggled. She wasn’t laughing.

“Yeah. I know you said you wanted to double date one day.”

“Yeah, whenever I get a man.”

“Who said I can’t be that, though?” City said. I grinned so hard because Rayzor told me how he was, but he had Suki blushing already, and she doesn’t go that easily.

Rayzor had me under his shoulder watching the exchange.

“Suki, right?” City asked, extending his hand.

“That’s me.”

“You mind kicking it with me at dinner with my boy and E?”

“I guess since they surprising me and everything.” Suki playfully rolled her eyes.

“You think they’ll hit it off?” I whispered to Rayzor as we headed inside.

“They need to so she can stay off yo’ line while I’m trying to get some pussy.”

We shared a laugh.

It wasn’t long before we were seated. Once again, all eyes were on us. Rayzor had to sign autographs and take a few pictures. By the time that was over, our drinks were almost watered down.

Even the waiter talked Rayzor’s ear off. I could tell he didn’t want to be rude by telling the dude to just serve us, but I applaud him. It’s always something to see when he’s being treated like royalty. He was grateful for every supporter.

“Rayzor, does that ever get old?” Suki asked.

“What’s that?”

“People always approaching you.”

“Sometimes. For real, I never thought the shit would take off like it did, but it is what it is.”

“Shit, even if my boy wasn’t in the ring, these hoes gone still be on him.”

“Oh really?” I asked, looking over at Rayzor. His facial expression was pissing me off because why the fuck was he smirking.

“Baby, I’m not no ugly nigga so yeah, these hoes be trying to fuck with me,” Rayzor stated.

“That’s all they better be doing because the moment you do the fucking, we have a problem,” I retorted before catching myself. Rayzor and I weren’t even together, and I was getting jealous.

“I know that’s the fuck right. You gotta check these niggas before they start roaming.” Suki reached for five. I reached across, but Rayzor pulled my hand back.

“That’s how you feel?”

“If I said it then I meant it,” I said with attitude.

“Remember all this shit you poppin’ now,” he told me.

There was no expression in his voice. I didn’t feel that he was mad. We were just making light of the situation.

“She ain’t scared,” Suki hyped up.

“Aye, stay out their shit. My boy got this. They brought you here for me,” City chimed in.

Suki pointed her finger. “Oh, let’s clear this up. Eris is my business. I’m ten toes, so I’m talking my shit for her and me whether it concerns me or not. I’m sure you’re the same way with Rayzor.”

“I don’t even gotta say that though,” City nodded.

“What’s understood don’t have to be explained then.” Suki nodded.

“Yeah, you made the right selection. She gon’ get his ass right,” Rayzor mumbled, and I giggled. City and Suki’s heads snapped in our direction.

“That’s if we get past the first date.”

“Oh, that’s already done,” City said, sure of himself.

Putting the four of us in the same room was a mistake because we never stopped laughing and talking shit. Between Rayzor, City and Suki, I had tears in my eyes. They even had the people next to us laughing.

After dinner, we skipped the lounge and retreated to Rayzor’s house, which was the first time I’d been there.

His house was a nice, ranch-style, four-bedroom, three-bathroom home.

His career served him right, and he had no worries from the nice house, outside appearances, down to the luxury cars and world at his disposal.

“Oh, you got it like that, huh?” I joked.

“I ain’t hurting. What you need?”

I was taken aback by his answer because he already does so much. I’ve never physically asked him for anything. It’s not that I needed it.

“To pay my babysitting services,” I joked.

“Done,” he responded, grabbing my hand and leading me to the living room with everyone else.

He tucked me under his shoulder, and I sulked deeper into his couch. It amazed me how comfortable I was with Rayzor. Why weren’t my senses on high alert?

“You good?” he asked.

Snapping out of my thoughts. “Um, yeah. I’m good.”

The drinks flowed. Suki was on the bar making everything under the sun. Then the cards came out, and we had to switch teams. It was always me and Suki on the table. We run people off.

“Y’all talking shit, just know we ‘bout to show y’all who the fuck the kings are,” City gassed.

“Boy, bye. Me and my girl run it up. Sorry to you, Rayzor, but my girl about to get you off this table.”

“We’ll see. We don’t shit, we show numbers,” Rayzor stated.

“What’s the wager if we win?” I asked.

“Oh, you know it’s unlimited dick and pussy eating on me.”

I spit out my damn drink because he was so damn uncensored. I wasn’t sure why I expected less. Then, on top of it, his facial expression never changed. He was serious and it had the entire table quiet.

“Oh, I’m getting that anyway. We need something else.”

“What you talkin’ then?”

“I’m always shopping for the kids. I wanna ruin that bank account.” I smirked.

He went into his pocket and place a thick titanium black card in the center of it. The noise bounced against the soft music in the background. He sat so confident, cards stacked in his hands, ready for war.

“It’s your world, Pretty teeth.”

“Pretty teeth?” City laughed.

“Yeah. He’s been calling her that since Miami.”

“This nigga just be doing shit.”

“I think it’s kind of cute.” I smiled.

“And if we win. I got to fuck you however I wanna. I know you be holding back,” Rayzor’s voice dropped, causing my pussy to quiver.

“And I want the same shit too,” City told Suki. I was too stunned because that was forward.

“You can get the hell outta my face. That’s the best thing you can do,” Suki retorted, and I cackled too loud.

“Yeah, you heard me,” City smirked.

Rayzor shook his head while I made sure that my best friend was okay and comfortable from his comments.

We ran the table back-to-back before it got heated in a friendly way, but I could tell the men didn’t like losing.

Rayzor and City ran the table like they said. While City gloated, Rayzor made a joke or two. Then Suki and City had some words before Rayzor called it a night.

“Let’s get up out here, girl. You’re staying with me?” I asked her.

“That’s cool,” Suki replied.
