Sittin’ Up In My Room #3

All eyes seemed to find us, and we had both men and women checking us out.

What bestie wore was just as fitting as what I wore.

While Mya was a beautiful caramel woman anything against her skin brought her figure out.

She was a slim-thick female that was proportioned perfectly.

She was the star athlete for our college, and she retained the body from it years later.

“I always feel like somebody’s watching meeeee,” she started whispering Michael Jackson’s lyrics and I had to giggle from it. She never took anything serious.

“I hope you know that we’re the best-looking women here so the encounters will be several. Oh, and from what I can tell, we might have some envious women here as well. I spotted three so far with their noses turned up.” I scanned the room once we walked in and caught every glare.

“Well, somebody’s going to be pissed off by the end of the night because I’m walking away with their man. Let’s go get a drink.”

We kept our smile on and let our steps lead us to the bar where we sat on the far end to be able to see the room comfortably. We didn’t like surprises and always wanted to see who was approaching.

I scanned the room again and noticed a group of men staring in our direction.

I knew what was coming next. Most men saw me and Mya and figured the first thing we needed was a savior when that was nowhere near the case.

What we needed was an equivalent partner who still dominated in their position in our life.

Men these days were selfish and inconsiderate as fuck, and I’d be damned if I gave into that.

I liked a man who knew how to stand on his own and stick to his guns but make his woman feel righteous.

“Here they come,” I softly uttered.

“Yeah, I see them. The only cute one is the one playing the background,” she said causing me to examine a little more.

He was a very attractive man but not my type. I was stuck on Cam’s appearance whether I wanted to admit it or not. No one I ran into measured up to him and I wasn’t going to settle for less.

“Ladies, how are you?” I could tell the one that spoke up was confident. A little too confident if you asked me.

“Good and yourself?” I kept it simple.

“Better now that you two have entered the room. You brought some seasoning in if you get what I’m saying.”

I chuckled from his remark because a lot of pale faces were in attendance. He had jokes and I liked that. That would be something good going for him.

“I’m Marcus, this is Saxon, Chris, and La—”

“I’m Lance. I don’t need another grown man speaking for me.” Cutie pie introduced himself not knowing that put him at the top of the totem pole.

I looked at Mya and she was intrigued with his approach.

He was who she was taking back to the room.

He did what was necessary to stand out and she was eating it up.

Extending their hands at the same time, they gave a shake and locked eyes.

No one else mattered to her. Lance was that one in a million man.

“Nice to meet you Lance, I’m Mya.” Her tone dropped and I shook my head. She was definitely fuckin’ him tonight.

“And what’s yours?” Marcus asked.

“It’s none of your concern.” I heard the voice, but I didn’t see him. It sounded familiar in a way, but I couldn’t connect the voice to a person.

“Who said that?” I questioned trying to look around the men.

The group of men stepped to the side with the same curiosity as me. When he stepped into the light my heart stopped. I knew I talked about him and thought of him constantly, but I wasn’t expecting to run into him again. His features matured from the young man I fell in love with.

Mya instantly recognized him and looked my way with worry eyes. The connection she made with him was broken to protect me. However, there was nothing to protect me from when it came to him. He had a hold on me that no one could release me from except him.

“Camden…”

“Harlow.”

“I see we’re not wanted any longer. Have a good night, ladies,” Marcus said excusing him and his followers, except Lance. He stayed to converse with Mya.

I sat nervously as he took steps in my direction. I wasn’t prepared to take him in, but my body reluctantly gave in to him. It missed him… dearly. I wasn’t trying to react to him, but it was unavoidable.

He was finally standing in front of me and before I could take in his aura, his lips found mine and we shared a long passionate kiss.

That kiss flooded me with so many feelings and memories.

I couldn’t escape him, and he added fuel to the fire.

He was supplying me with the dose I’d been feenin’ for.

As soon as our flesh disconnected, I felt a wave of sadness. I was given so much at once that I was temporarily overwhelmed. I needed more of him but knew an explanation was due. He owed me his reason of leaving and why my heartbreak stayed on a loop.

The look in his eyes was the same it had always been for me. I felt the love and warmth behind them. However, I couldn’t help but believe he came back for other things that didn’t include me.

“Cam, what are you doing here?” I questioned with my face still being cuffed in his hands.

“I have free range now, so I came back to get the love of my life.”

I gasped on his response.
