Real Love #3
Sometimes you just needed to mind your business because when you go snooping you find what you’re looking for. Malika would say time and time again that Kase was too good to be true and it seemed as if she was right.
Toni: You’re my husband so ditch your side piece, come home, and show me some attention. I missed the dick anyway.
My blood was boiling before I could finish reading the sentence.
I was no dummy and knew that her message was a response, so I opened up the entire message and was in for a rude awakening.
To say that he fooled me was an understatement.
That man entertained me the way a circus would a child and I was pissed the fuck off.
Tears fell without permission and before I could clean my face up, he returned to the table. What I wanted to do was smack the taste out his mouth, but I cared about my image in the public light. He wouldn’t get that satisfaction out of me.
“Baby why you crying? What happened that fast?”
Swiping away the tears, I handed the phone back with the messages still open.
I grabbed my clutch and coat and left him where he stood.
I had nothing to say to him. It was clear that whatever we shared was a joke to him.
He didn’t even have the decency to hide it.
I scurried out the restaurant immediately trying to flag down a taxi.
“Vee, wait!” I ignored his request and stood waving my hand to be noticed. “Baby give me a minute to explain.”
“Explain Kase but the result is the same. I know my worth and I refuse to stay anywhere where my presence, time, and affection isn’t appreciated.”
“Me and Toni have an open marriage. We’re both free to do whatever we want to do. That text didn’t mean shit.”
“Kase, from what I read and what I know now… you are a muthafuckin’ clown. Please leave me alone.”
“I ain’t never been that. I understand you’re mad but don’t get it twisted. That disrespectful shit gon’ only last for so long.”
I looked at him unbothered by his words. Kase didn’t scare me the way he thought he did. He was caught up and couldn’t take that spotlight, so he was trying to direct the attention to something else. He was and always would be Bobo to me from this day forward.
A taxi finally pulled up and I opened the door all for him to snatch me back and slammed the door.
The driver wasn’t there for any drama, so she pulled off without questioning anything.
The reaction he was looking for wasn’t in me.
I knew he probably wanted me to scream and shout about my feelings being hurt but the embarrassment was too much.
He played me and that was that. I was getting the hell away from him and this relationship.
“Kase I would appreciate it if you got out of my way so I can go on about my business. You have a wife to go and tend to.”
I pulled out my phone and facetime Prez not caring what Kase was about to spew out of his mouth. It wasn’t anything but more lies and I quite frankly wasn’t in the mood to hear them.
“Aveena, you ain’t gon’ let me run this shit down for you? It’s not what you think.”
“I saw that woman tell you to ditch me and come home. There’s nothing more for me to think. The proof is in the pudding, and I don’t want to deal with the mess. You’re the husband to someone else which means we’re done. What’s there to run down stink?”
I was over the bullshit with him and wanted to dip out as fast as I could. I rolled my eyes and diverted my focus back to the call. Prez was on the screen already walking out the crib. I couldn’t recall when the connection was even made.
“Where you at?” was all he asked when we made eye contact.
“The Palm.”
“I’m on the way.”
The call disconnected and that pissed Kase off. His gentle ways were no longer in him. He turned into a mad man as if I was the one that was married. He had some nerve to react the way he was.
“You really gon’ call that nigga in front of me. Yo’ hoe ass probably been fuckin’ him too.”
“Whatever makes you feel better sir.”
I began to scroll through social media when my phone was smacked out of my hand. I chuckled and bent down to pick it up. He was losing so he was doing whatever would bring him satisfaction. Walking away casually, I was pulled back and thrown into the wall. I was still unbothered by his tactics.
“Why you playing with me Vee? You know I love you.”
“So I’ve heard. Can I go now?” I asked with a smirk on my face.
That man was losing his shit, and I couldn’t help but find it amusing. Was I going to break down in the car? Of course! However, letting him see me cry for him again was a no-no.
“Don’t make me show my ass, Vee.”
“You’re doing that already. I just want to go home and get some sleep. It’s sad that you won’t even allow me to do that.”
Without saying anything, he grabbed me by the hand and tried to usher me away. He had to be out his rabbit ass mind if he thought I was going with him. Snatching my hand out of his, I shook my head and gave a small laugh. The wine had him acting different for real.
“I’m really trying with you, Aveena,” he said tight lipped.
“Well stop. Trying won’t do nothing but create more chaos. What don’t you understand that me and you are done? I’m not getting in the car with you and I’m damn sure not going home with you. You’re going to Toni and that’s that.”
He stared me down before he rushed me and the next thing, I heard was the sound of a gun being loaded. I knew who it was and what was about to happen. Kase was from the streets, but Prez was still in them and deep. Prez wasn’t afraid to pull the trigger.
“I been itching to light yo’ pussy ass up. Make me a happy muthafucka and put your hands on her.”
Prez had it aimed and ready to go. Kase knew not to test him because Prez never hid the fact that he was missing several screws when it came to me. I wasn’t to be hurt or harmed at any given time. I didn’t know why Kase tested him like that.
He eyed me intensely. I knew this wasn’t going to be the end of this, but he had to let me go. He was married and I didn’t need that kind of karma in my life. I stepped back creating distance between us as his stare down was finally making me nervous.
“Get in the car, princess.”
I did like Prez ordered and didn’t bother to mind Kase any longer.
My protector had shown, and I knew that whatever happened from now on, Prez would handle it.
Kase was defeated and although this wasn’t going to end well, I was glad that it did come to an end.
I was having too many internal battles with my feelings.
Prez carried a devious smile that low key scared me.
He was a killer through and through. He had asked to do Kase in several times, but I kept him at bay.
He just didn’t like him, and he was very verbal about it.
However, when I asked for double dates and game nights, he always showed up on his best behavior being cordial with Kase and his people.
He stayed trained on Kase until he was out of sight. Prez rounded to the driver’s side and hopped in saying nothing. When he pulled off, he hit the music and the loud derogative music was blasting. He was just as pissed off at me as clown ass was.
I hit the radio button turning it off and he side eyed me. “He —”
“I’m killing him, and you if I ever catch y’all together again. I don’t give a fuck if it’s at his fat neck ass grandma funeral. You got me?”
Nodding, I took heed to his threat because his were more like promises.
PREZIDENCE
“I told you that nigga was a fraud and you still dealt with him. Now look, he played yo’ stupid ass.
” I was beyond pissed the fuck off. Aveena was a nigga heart and soul, and her well-being was the only thing I was worried about.
Since we were kids seeing her smile had been the only focus a nigga had.
“Don’t talk to me like that, Prezidence.”
“Man shut the fuck up and listen to a nigga some damn time. All of this shit could’ve been avoided if you would’ve done that. I got way too much shit going on to be dealing with this.”
“Wow. Well, sorry for being a fuckin’ inconvenience.”
I heard the crack in her voice and that tugged at my heart instantly.
If she would’ve admitted to her feelings for me, she could be living a life that was stress-free.
As someone that knew her inside and out, I knew where she wanted to be.
However, she was too stubborn to let her feelings ride and enjoy real happiness.
My feelings were already expressed, and I wasn’t repeating myself.
I told her how I felt about her when we were kids and she laughed me off.
I wasn’t going for that rejection again.
She could like or love a nigga all day, but she could still refuse me in every way. That would hurt more than anything.
Most people thought that because I was so deep into the streets that I didn’t care about relationships and shit.
That was the complete opposite in fact. I cared but I wasn’t settling for anything or anyone.
If your name wasn’t Aveena Samuels, then I wasn’t budging.
It was that simple. I’d been in love with her for far too long and she’d been holding a nigga heart hostage for decades.
“You’re not an inconvenience, princess.”
I calmed down my tone and spoke to her with a little more respect. She was sensitive and I knew it. She also valued everything I said to her. She made it clear that I had more pull and say so than anyone in her life.
She wiped her face a few times which let me know she was crying.
Now those broke a nigga down like a fraction.
She found out that he was married and was unbothered but the minute I hurt her feelings she was in a pool of tears.
She was a big ass baby behind me. Her tears didn’t seem like they were going to stop anytime soon so we drove in silence to the crib. I couldn’t comfort her like this.
