Thank You #2
“I did not understand human ceremonies before.”
I gazed up at him. “And now.”
His gaze stayed locked completely onto me.
“Now I think choosing someone publicly may be one of the bravest things humans do.”
Chapter 35
Eva POV
By sunset, the rooftop above my apartment building was more like chaos decorated with fairy lights. It fit us perfectly.
Silver candles lined the edges of the roof while warm city lights stretched endlessly beyond the buildings around us. Somebody, probably the cult members, had scattered black roses absolutely everywhere.
Nina stared around the rooftop in disbelief. “…Okay wait. This is actually beautiful.”
One cult member burst into tears. “WE HELPED CREATE LOVE.”
“You sold me candles while I was drunk .”
“DESTINY CANDLES.”
Meanwhile the younger brother was still carrying folding chairs with deeply offended royal dignity.
“I survived war councils for this.”
Nina grabbed his tie and pulled him down into a quick kiss instantly. “You’re doing amazing sweetheart.”
The younger brother forgot his own sentence halfway through existence.
Across the rooftop, my mother aggressively rearranged decorations while Nina’s aunt argued with the cult members about candle placement like this was an international diplomatic crisis.
His mother was delighted watching human wedding chaos unfold in real time.
“Your species becomes highly violent during celebrations.”
“We call that love,” my mother informed her.
“That explains several wars.”
Meanwhile my demon stood beside the rooftop railing quietly watching the city below. Human city lights reflected softly across the black suit he wore tonight while cool evening wind moved through his dark hair. And the entire world narrowed down to him standing there waiting for me.
I walked toward him while the rooftop chaos continued behind us. His eyes found mine instantly. Then just like that his entire attention shifted toward me in that devastating way that still made my heartbeat betray me.
There was no throne room waiting for us, no politics, no Hell looming over the moment. Just us.
“You disappeared,” I murmured softly after reaching him.
“You were being attacked by floral arrangements.”
“That’s fair.” The corner of his mouth lifted slightly before his gaze moved over me. Enough to make warmth crawl into my chest.
“You look beautiful.”
The honesty in his voice hit harder than compliments normally should. Because he sounded like he meant it completely. And God , he looked unfairly beautiful too. Before I could answer, Nina yelled across the rooftop:
“IF YOU TWO START MAKING EYE CONTACT ROMANTICALLY AGAIN I’M STARTING THIS CEREMONY WITHOUT YOU.”
The younger brother nodded seriously beside her. “That feels reasonable.”
My demon seemed deeply unimpressed. “You both are so extra .”
“We’RE IN LOVE,” Nina shouted back.
The ceremony itself moved quickly after that.
There was no ancient magic involved and no terrifying rituals waiting to interrupt us.
Just city lights glowing around the rooftop, family and friends gathered close, and two completely different worlds meeting in the middle of one tiny space.
The cult members cried through the entire thing. Actually sobbed.
One whispered dramatically: “THE PROPHECY.”
“There was no prophecy,” Anderson muttered from the back.
Meanwhile my father stood quietly beside me while Nina’s aunt aggressively fixed my veil for the fourth time.
“You alright,” my father asked softly.
My gaze found my demon waiting beneath the lights near the center of the rooftop. Then I answered:
“Yeah.”
And weirdly, for the first time in a long time, I actually meant it. Then my father squeezed my shoulder once before stepping back quietly. The city wind moved softly through the rooftop lights while everybody gathered around us.
Nina stood beside me holding flowers dramatically while the younger brother leaned beside her looking completely gone already. His mother and father watched from the front row together looking strangely soft beneath the city lights.
And at the center of it all, my demon waited for me. There was no throne behind him, no crown, no title hanging over the moment. Just the man who made coffee in my apartment kitchen and changed my entire life without either of us realizing it at first.
“Go marry your demon already.”
Nina shoved me forward before I could recover.
The rooftop lights blurred slightly around me while I walked toward him through warm city wind and silver candles. And everything felt quiet. Not because the rooftop was silent. The cult members were still crying dramatically somewhere behind us.
But because the second my demon met my eyes, nothing else mattered anymore. He reached for my hand the moment I stopped in front of him.
The human officiant standing beside us blinked several times like he was still trying to process exactly who had hired him.
“Okay,” the officiant said nervously while glancing between: demon royalty, crying cult members, and supernatural family members. “I have absolutely no training for… any of this.”
“We believe in you,” Nina called supportively.
“You should not,” Anderson muttered.
Meanwhile, my demon still hadn't looked away from me once, not even for a second. Then, quietly, soft enough that only I could hear, he admitted:
“I think I’ve loved you since the moment you summoned me while you were drunk with vanilla candles ”
The warmth in his voice nearly destroyed me right there in front of everyone.
The officiant finally cleared his throat awkwardly. “Right. Vows.”
Then, unexpectedly, my demon spoke first with no hesitation and no fear anywhere in his voice. Just complete honesty.
“I come from a world where love is treated like weakness,” he said quietly while holding my hand tighter. “Then you walked into my life and made me understand why people destroy kingdoms trying to protect it.”
The rooftop went completely silent. Even the city noise below felt far away. His gaze never left mine while he continued softer this time:
“You challenged me. Fought with me. Choose me even after seeing the worst parts of me.” Tiny pause. “And if you let me, I want every version of forever with you.”
I heard Nina crying somewhere behind me. The younger brother whispered: “I hate how good he is at this.”
Meanwhile I was trying very hard not to collapse in front of the entire rooftop. Then finally everyone turned toward me. I stared at him for one long second before laughing softly under my breath.
“Honestly,” I admitted quietly, “this all started because I bought stupid candles.”
Several cult members sobbed harder.
“But somehow,” I continued while squeezing his hand gently, “the best thing that ever happened to me came walking into my apartment acting emotionally constipated and terrifying.”
The younger brother choked laughing.
My demon stared at me in utter betrayal. “In front of witnesses?”
“Yes.”
“Cruel.”
“But true,” I whispered softly. Then quieter this time: “And I’d still choose you again.”
Silence hit the rooftop hard after that. Because everybody understood: this wasn’t a drunken mistake anymore. This was forever.
The officiant scrubbed quickly at one eye. “Okay wow. You may kiss before I cry professionally.”
My demon kissed me very carefully. And somewhere behind us, Nina screamed dramatically, the cult members collapsed into dramatic breakdowns, my mother started crying, and Anderson was finally relieved for the first time in weeks.
Then things got even worse because Nina and the younger brother decided to do THEIR vows immediately afterward. Which turned into complete chaos.
“I wasn’t planning to fall in love with you,” Nina informed him while holding his face dramatically.
A delighted grin spread across the younger brother's face. “You threatened me with a spear twice.”
“That was foreplay.”
Several human relatives gasped. His mother looked proud. Then unexpectedly the younger brother lost the teasing smile entirely before speaking quietly:
“I would follow you anywhere to the corner of earth to centre of hell.”
Oh. That landed. Because Nina stopped breathing for a second before muttering:
“…Rude.”
Then she kissed him before she started crying about it apparently.
By the time both ceremonies finally ended, the rooftop had turned into complete destruction. Human family members were hugging demons like this had become normal, the cult members were loudly crying about destiny, and my demon’s parents had ended up helping clean the decorations afterward.
And standing beneath the fairy lights afterward, both worlds no longer felt separate anymore.
Just connected. My demon stepped beside me near the rooftop railing while a silver portal light opened nearby for the return to Hell.
Then quietly, he intertwined his fingers with mine.
“We’ll come back often,” he said softly.
It wasn’t a promise spoken lightly. It sounded certain, steady in a way that settled deep inside me. I looked out across the city one last time before leaning gently against his shoulder.
“Good,” I answered quietly.
Because now, I finally belonged to both worlds.
Chapter 36
Eva POV
The return to Hell happened instantly.
One second: city lights, human rooftops, warm summer air.
The next: silver fire, black palace towers, and an entire kingdom waiting beneath the night sky.
The palace had transformed completely.
Massive silver flames burned along every balcony while ancient symbols glowed across the marble floors beneath our feet. Thousands of demons filled the enormous ceremonial halls below the palace terraces, their voices echoing softly through the night like distant storms.
And for the first time since arriving in Hell, the kingdom didn’t feel frightening anymore. It felt like home. Beside me, Nina stared around the glowing city below while her demon wore unfairly smug expression.
“…Okay wow,” she whispered.
