Chapter 22 #2

Ain’t shit fancy about this but it’s me and one of the main reasons I love Kyrah so much is that she appreciates anything I do.

I can truly say she loves me, all of me, and holds me down.

If I’m having a stressful day, she’ll hop on my bike with me and just ride.

Wherever I take her, she’ll go, no questions asked.

She rocks with me no matter what and I love that shit and her.

About thirty minutes after getting the suite set up, I reach campus, park in a visitor spot behind her building, then walk in.

I check in with the security desk and tell him I have an appointment with the dean and he points me toward her office.

I’m stopped again by a lady sitting behind a large, round desk.

“Good afternoon. How can I help you?” she asks with a smile.

“Lexie,” I begin and her eyebrows raise in obvious shock because we’ve never met in person, only over the phone. “I’m Shiro and I’m here to surprise her for lunch,” I say and nod toward the closed door with the brass Dr. Kyrah Morris - Dean sign on it. Her eyebrows drop and her smile gets bigger.

“Now I don’t have to wait until the wedding. Nice to finally meet you. She’s going to be so happy to see—”

“Leave!” Kyrah’s voice cuts through Lexie’s and she looks back at the door while I step in that direction. “Get out of my office!”

“Who’s in there?” I ask as my hand grips the handle.

“Her ex,” Lexie says apologetically.

The fuck is he doing here!

Not even a second passes before the door is open and I’m inside with my arm around this nigga’s neck.

“Shiro!” Kyrah exclaims, surprised as hell to see me.

“Yeah, baby. I’m here,” I tell her, then lean close to his ear. “But why the fuck are you here, nigga?” I grit.

My forearm pressed against his throat makes his words labored but he manages to choke out, “Let…me…go.”

“Nah. I’m about to drag yo’ bitch ass out of here. She asked you to leave and you didn’t. So I got it.” I yank him back and start dragging him out. He tries to resist by actually kicking his legs like a fucking child. It only causes my grip to tighten.

From behind, I hear Lexie say frantically, “I can call security.”

“Yes. Call them,” Kyrah adds. “Shiro, let him go. They can handle it.”

“Nah. I’m yo’ security and I’m gonna take his bitch ass outside and give him the fade he’s been overdue.”

Kyrah says something else and so does Lexie but I can’t hear shit.

This nigga just scratched my arm. I see Kyrah pick her phone up right as I drag him out of her office.

He’s struggling to say something too but my anger and adrenaline have my damn ears clogged to all noise.

I’m focused on getting this nigga outside so I can fuck him up.

When we’re in the main lobby, the security guard I spoke to just minutes ago and another stop me. Both of their big asses stand directly in my path, blocking me.

“Sir,” the one from earlier begins. “We need you to let him go,” he says sternly.

“Nah. I got him.”

“Sir, please. We can’t have this on campus.”

“I know. That’s why I’m taking him off campus. Let me by,” I say calmly. There’s a small crowd gathering and I hate scenes. Plus, this shit is really between me and the nigga I’m choking, nobody else.

“Michael. Michael,” I hear Kyrah plead. She must have followed me out. “That’s my fiancé, Shiro. I asked Raquan to leave, he wouldn’t, and Shiro got him out.”

“Dr. Morris, we can’t have this in the lobby,” the security guard says.

“I know. Trust me. I just want Raquan gone and banned from campus. Please, that’s all,” she says, then steps in front of me. With pleading eyes, she says, “Shiro. Let him go. They’ll handle him.”

“Nah. I’m going to handle him,” I insist.

“Love,” she utters before placing her hand on my arm.

“Please. This is my job. Let…them…take care of him.” For a moment, she just stares at me, then she grips my arm.

“Please,” she says, and although nothing in me wants to, I release my grip from ol’ boy’s neck.

He falls to the floor, gripping his neck and coughing loudly.

Both guards rush him, scoop him up, and drag him outside.

While shaking her head, Kyrah grabs my hands then sighs. “Thank you.”

“He needs to thank you for saving him. What the fuck happened in there?” I bark.

“Not out here,” she says in a hushed tone before heading back into her office.

With her head held high, she strolls past the small crowd and simply says, “Please break this up and get back to class or your offices.” To my surprise, the same calmness she has with the crowd remains once we’re back in her office and I close her door.

“You’re early.” She smirks before stepping toward me and wrapping her arms around my neck.

“And I’m so glad you came when you did.”

“So, you’re not mad?” I ask.

“No. We’re even.”

“Even? What are you talking about?”

“I beat your ex’s ass at your shop and you beat mine here. Even,” she says and I just shake my head.

She truly rocks with me no matter what.

“She wasn’t my ex and you stopped me before I could put my hands on him.”

“Same difference.” She shrugs then smiles. “I’m trying to kiss but you keep talking.”

“Are you going to tell me why he was here?” I ask and she nods.

“After my kiss. Don’t make me beg.” She leans in and I grant her wish. Our lips touch and tongues wrestle as my hands grip her ass and her hands caress my neck. Any lingering traces of anger disappear as I kiss the woman I love. “Better,” she says once our lips part.

“Good. Now, tell me why that nigga was here?” I ask.

“Sit, love. I’ll tell you while I pack up so we can leave.”

She stares at me until I sit on her small sofa then she steps behind her desk. As she straightens it and gets her things, she tells me, “He just showed up. Because of our divorce settlement, I still get monthly payments from him. He wants me to ask the courts to stop it.”

I can’t lie I don’t like hearing that she’s getting anything from that nigga.

“You don’t need his money. Anything you need, I got it. You can stop that shit right now.”

“Shiro, I don’t even spend it on myself. I spend most of it on my mom’s house and bills and invest the rest. His money has actually made me money.”

“How much is it?”

“Shiro,” she exclaims. “It stops six months after I remarry anyway. September is the last payment. He just wants me to stop it now.”

“Nah, I’m dead ass. How much is it?”

“Five thousand two hundred a month.”

“Then I’ll give you thirty grand and you can stop the payments tomorrow. I don’t want you getting another penny from that nigga,” I grit and she looks up.

“You’re serious.”

“Very,” I admit. Had I known she’s been getting money from him I would have been deaded that shit.

Without breaking eye contact, she stands and walks over to me. After sitting on my lap, she caresses the side of my face and rakes her fingers through my beard.

“Okay. I’ll contact my lawyer and have him file the paperwork to stop it. And you can keep the money. In a few days, what’s yours is mine anyway.”

“It’s been yours,” I tell her, meaning that shit.

“Then smile. You’re still looking serious and we don’t have that much time left together for you to be serious. I want our last hours together to be fun.”

“Ay. Quit saying last like that.”

“You know what I mean. We have tonight then our break. I want to have fun.”

“Trust me; we are,” I say, then kiss her pretty ass. “Let’s go. I got a surprise for you.”
