Chapter 22 #2

“Yo,” I heard my son say into the phone.

“That’s how you answer your goddamn phone, Trey?” I growled at him.

“When it’s you, yes. What do you want?”

“Where’s Rowan?”

“Relax, she’s fine. Just having lunch with Frankie at Crossbones.”

“Are Tee and Tori there?”

Trey was silent for a moment. “Why would you care if they were working?”

His tone told me he was pissed off. So the fuck was I.

“Trey, for the love of God, tell me.”

“Yeah, they’re behind the counter, shooting daggers at the girls but what’s new there?”

Maybe it was nothing. Just idle talk from two bitches who got put in their place, and it was a way to be in power for a few minutes. Still, I felt uneasy.

“What is it?”

“I don’t know,” I told him. “Maybe nothing. I’ll call you back in five.”

He hung up before I could, and I knew my relationship with him needed work, but right now, I had to focus on the woman who I very nearly lost.

“Prez, talk.”

I turned to Maverick, who looked like he was concerned for me. He knew me better than I knew myself sometimes, and I hated him for it, but right now, I knew I needed it.

“He said she’s fine.”

“You know you’re not going to rest easy until you know for sure. We can go and grab a bite to go. We used to do it all the time. Then you can explain to her later, yeah?”

I looked to Chaos who was agreeing with Maverick.

“Yeah, right.”

We put our helmets on and rode from the clubhouse toward Crossbones Diner. A sickly feeling settled deep in my chest, and I had no way to ease it. She was going to be pissed, I knew it, but as long as she was safe and the bitchy cunts didn’t hurt her, I’d be good.

It didn’t take long for us to get to the diner, where I could see Trey sitting on the bench outside of the diner, looking down at his phone.

When he heard us rumbling into the carpark, he stood up, shaking his head and putting his phone away. He stalked toward where we pulled up, and I looked over at him once I took my helmet off.

“She doesn’t like being controlled, you know.”

“We’re here for some lunch. Last time I checked, this was still a Sons’ run business, kid.”

Trey shot Chaos a look that could have sliced and diced if Chaos gave a shit about any of that.

I saw movement at the door, and looked over at Rowan and Frankie coming out the doors.

Rowan headed my way while Frankie looked down at her phone, and anywhere away from where we were.

That’s when I noticed Chaos getting back on his bike, and pretending like what he had with the girl was casual.

That shit wasn’t casual, no matter how bad he was telling himself it was.

“Couldn’t handle an hour without me?” Rowan asked, in a chipper mood.

“Jesus, get a fucking room,” Trey said, moving away from us, just as she draped her arm around my neck and kissed me hard. I cupped the side of her face, my fingers drifting in her hair and yanking back. She let out a tiny gasp of surprise, before the look of hunger overtook her eyes.

“Want to go for a ride?”

“Let me say goodbye to Frankie. Don’t want her to hate you more than she already does.”

I chuckled, letting her go, and swatting her on the ass.

“You good?” Maverick asked, his signature smirk back on his face.

“Yeah, brother.”

The sound of another car pulling in, the engine loud and obnoxious in the serene carpark, had me turning my head. Frankie squealed when she saw who pulled in.

I knew those plates anywhere.

“Bye, Ro!” I heard Frankie call out, before she jumped in the car. “Call me later, bitch!”

As the car spun around to leave, I caught sight of the driver and froze. Fuck. His cocky grin had my eyes shooting to my left where I saw Chaos’ jaw tighten.

“What the fuck?”

“Don’t,” I said, firmly. “He’s done nothing wrong. Frankie chose this.”

“She doesn’t know who he fucking is,” Chaos said. “Prez.”

“You made your choice, brother. Let her make hers.”

He nodded, but I could see how he ground his teeth, looking out over the road the car had disappeared down.

Maverick turned to me. “I’ll keep him from doing something stupid.”

I nodded, watching as they rode out of the carpark, leaving me with Trey who was talking with Rowan, animatedly, and Rowan shaking her head. He eventually shook his head and got in his car, before she moved over to me.

“What’s going on?”

“He’s upset with Frankie’s choices. I don’t see what the problem is.”

“She’s hooking up with Mannix Charman.”

“Who’s that?”

I smiled, loving how innocent she was in this world of mine. It could either be a great thing or a really bad thing.

“Come on, I wanna show you a place. Then I’ll tell you all about the Forsaken Crew.”

“Sounds…illuminating,” she smirked, taking the helmet I held out for her. She jumped on behind me, wrapping her arms tight. Her hand was making its way down to my crotch just as I started the bike. Goddamn minx.

“Hold on tight, baby.”

Her excited squeal as I tore out of the carpark and down the road had the blood rushing to my cock immediately. It was true what they said.

You’re only as old as the woman you’re fucking.

Coz right now, I could go ten rounds with her, and still be hard as stone.
