Chapter 35 – Easton #2
CJ removed one of the cigarettes and held it out to him, then jammed the other one in his mouth. Standing, he dug into his pocket and fished out a lighter. Once he lit both cigarettes, he returned the lighter to his pocket and sat again, then took a drag.
“Girls, man,” he said around a plume of smoke. “I will never understand them.”
“You aren’t meant to. Women are mysterious, beautiful creatures. We are just the mere mortals who worship them.”
“I’d never disrespect Skye or Jaleena but I don’t worship them.” He took another drag. “I thought I’d get to that point with Jaleena, but, fuck…I don’t know if I pushed her away for a legitimate reason. She was so demanding and jealous. Skye is nosy, possessive, bossy, and fucking irritating.”
“It sounds as if you’re over both of them.”
“Today, Wilhemhein is a motherfucker, who’s enjoying my fucking pain. Tomorrow, he might be chill. Who knows with him? The worse part? I hate to team up with anyone at school for any reason. It just reminds me of Molly.”
Easton’s peace and contentment fled. He’d been worked to the bone, kept up for hours at a time, just busy in his quest to become a full patch Death Dweller.
Every now and then, in his downtime, he thought about her and wondered if she was okay.
Here and there, inappropriate thoughts and ideas flickered across his mind, but for the past week he’d kept her at bay.
But, at CJ’s words, Easton recalled Molly as he’d last seen her, out of her head and proclaiming she loved him.
Why that touched him, he wasn’t sure. She was so fucking tragic. After Bash almost killed her, Easton spent days caring for her and keeping her alive. That was probably why, when she did cross his mind, he had to force himself to stop worrying about her and wishing he could watch over her.
Now he couldn’t allow the opportunity to pass. “How is she?”
“Fine as far as I know. We’ll see her over the summer. Maybe next month. Rebel hasn’t mentioned it, but I know my little sister. She probably wants to spend her fifteenth birthday with her twin. If that’s the case, we’ll see Molly then.”
Easton wanted to go with them to see her himself, but he couldn’t bring himself to ask.
“Can I ask you something, Easton?”
“Sure.”
Flicking his cigarette, CJ glanced into the distance, then looked at Easton. “How old were you when you lost your virginity?”
“About your age.”
“Exactly,” CJ said irritably. “I’m the freak of the family. I had a hot teacher who wanted to have sex with me. She gave me a blow job and I fingered her, but that was it.”
A hot…teacher? “I beg your fucking pardon?”
“Fuck. Forget I said that, but for what it’s worth, both Mom and Dad know about her.”
“What?”
“Dad and Diesel congratulated me. Mom was pissed.”
“You told your mother a teacher gave you a blowjob at school?”
“It wasn’t at school. I was on a date with Jaleena. She got mad and Ember saw me. We hooked up in one of the restaurant’s private rooms. A few days later, she invited me to her place and we talked and danced, but then I left.”
“Are you attracted to guys?”
“What? No! I like girls.”
“Sex doesn’t define your manhood whether you want a girl or a guy in bed with you.”
“Dad was younger than me!”
“You aren’t Outlaw.”
“You’re not the first fucking person to say that. There’s only been ten or fifty before you.”
Easton discarded his cigarette. Unlike CJ, he’d smoked his down to the butt. “Then I’m the eleventh or fifty-first fucking person who’s right.”
CJ huffed.
“There’s nothing wrong with being a virgin. Maybe you’re someone who needs feelings involved—”
“I don’t have any feelings for Skye except annoyance and all I can think about was kissing her all over and…” He turned beet red and dropped his gaze. “Harley and me are getting back on track. I always thought she was the most beautiful girl in the world. But she isn’t a virgin.”
“Is Skye?”
“I refuse to ask her and give her false hope. Suppose, one day, I’m with Harley and I don’t know what to do? She has experience.”
“How experienced can a fifteen-year-old girl be?”
“It doesn’t matter,” CJ said, groaning. “I’d bitch out with her too, probably.”
“Have you talked to Outlaw?”
“My dad’s a legend in all aspects. Mom thinks I should talk to him too. I just don’t know how to bring up that I might die a virgin.”
Easton smiled. “I doubt that. Every girl in that room—”
“Yeah, but I only wanted one girl in that room. The most irritating one of all. She’s like a fucking gnat, fluttering around me when I just want her to go away. I don’t even like her. Besides, Ryan wants to hook up with her. I refuse to pass her around like she’s a disposable piece of meat.”
“She might not take what Ryan’s offering.”
“Unfortunately, we have similar tastes. Molly was his girlfriend. I ended up really liking her. Harley was my best friend. No, my everything. He ended up sleeping with her. Now, Skye.”
“There’s nothing I can say that will make you feel better. Talk to your father. Trust me on this.”
CJ considered Easton for a minute. “Do you have a girlfriend?”
“Girlfriends weren’t wise to have around at the American Scorpions.”
“Just another reason not to trust them and wish for a different outcome. I didn’t agree with that peace agreement.”
